Horrible Billing service and Practice. Sends to collection despite regular, documented efforts to pay in full. Loses track of signed documents. Say they "cant stop the process" even though their errors caused the issue. Really wish there were an equivalent rating system for them as they are willing to damage their paying customers credit. We signed power of attornery and release docs for my 19 yr old daughters surgery ahead of time specifically to allow me, her father and medical benefits provider, to view medical info, pay bills, etc. This was all done very deliberately. Post surgery, multiple billing statements arrive. Coverage was significant, thanks to my employer. However, calling to pay the balance, I was told to hold off as not all claims to insurance were finalized. Did so...called back every two weeks with varying results. Got put on hold multiple times by automated call system...had to drop twice due to long holds. Called again 2 wks later and call would not go through--number cancelled (?) Called a customer support line and was told I could not pay as I was not authorized. Oh...and yes, it had gone to collections. NO...nothing they could do to stop that. Asked for supervisor. Less friendly and helpful than original agent. Zero interest in investigating further on her side. All effort was to be on customer to figure out how to resolve. Refused to send me any necessary forms I'd need and just told me to go to the website. Inova puts it ALL on you even when they've created serious errors and YOU are trying to pay. HIPAA has nothign to do with running your billing system and authorization systems. I had been warned by our caregiver, as well to very closely review all bills for errors, duplication, etc. Note--healthcare/treatment was very good. Business systems, customer service and just doing the right thing are where Inova falls down hard. My credit will likely suffer despite best efforts to pay them all along.
