In July of this year a contract was signed between myself and Branching out Tree Services to clear an acre of land of trees, level the lot and put down a 60x48 foot concrete slab. I paid a partial payment of $29,000 for the start of the project with the expectation that it would be completed by mid September. The land did get cleared and leveled and **** came and said he needed a check to get the concrete and would be back the next day so we wrote him a check for $20,000 to finish the project. He never came back, did not return phone calls and just ghosted us. He finally reached out yesterday and told me that his company was filing bankrupcy and that sorry but there was nothing he could do. The company is owned by his family.

Branching Out Tree Services and Landscaping, LLC was hired to install a patio with fire pit for a verbal estimate of $13000. A sidwalk with matching stone pavers was verbally quoted for $6000. ******************, stated owner of this alleged licensed business, stated that half the amount was required up front for deposit. $9500 was paid to the business with credit card on May 17, 2023. Work was started on the patio July 18, 2023. There was much discussion on the disagreement of stone pavers ordered versus shown in pictures of what was to be ordered. On July 21, ****************** said he needed the rest of the payment to order materials. An additional $4500 was paid to the company. ****************** did no further scheduled work on the patio, firepit, or sidewalk. I have asked repeatedly for receipts, invoices, and estimates as well as where ****************** was getting the supplies for the project. He has avoided answering to any of these requests. He never provided a contract nor any other paperwork. On August 8, he came to finish the patio. The patio was not of the same stone paver and I requested he exchange the pavers for new ones of the same quality. He continued his hostile behavior and said he wouldn't replace anything and wouldn't waste his gas coming back to do the firepit.I have asked for a return of the overpayment of $1000 for the sidewalk deposit as well as additional amount for the custom firepit that was not installed. He has kept all money and not returned for any work despite my repeated requests. I now have a new licensed contractor coming to fix the incorrect work and start my project from scratch. It turns out that ****************** is not a licensed contractor, so additional reports have to be filed. He presented himself as a legitimate business but has neither provided contracts/estimates/receipts (even for my credit card payments) as a licensed business would do, but he has become hostile to multiple parties involved when asked for documentation and refund.
