On 4/23/24, I returned a phone call from ****** at Bloom Health Centers to schedule a talk therapy appointment. The number is ************. After ****** informed me that Bloom does not accept my insurance, I asked to be transferred to the billing department so I could receive a refund on my deductible deposit. She said yes, then transferred me. Instead of transferring me to the billing department, ***** transferred me to a PATIENT named ****************. I then disclosed some medical details, thinking I was talking to the billing department, before the patient stopped me to explain that he was also a patient with Bloom and that they often transfer other patients to him thinking its the billing department. In an attempt to notify Bloom of this issue, I called the grievance line listed on the bottom of their website and left a voicemail on 4/29/24. The number on their website is ************. Today, 5/3/24, I received a call back from the grievance line, only to be told that the number listed on Blooms website was actually for a different medical provider named ************************ (AVP). The representative there did not know of Bloom Health Centers of why AVPs number was listed on their site. This is absolutely outrageous since the voicemail message for that line said it was a confidential line for medical information, yet the info I disclosed was sent to another medical provider. After ****** searching the grievance number on Blooms site, I saw that the number is also listed on an ************************ website, so the number does indeed belong to them. These two instances of possibly HIPAA violations is unacceptable. I was able to eventually reach the billing department at Bloom on 4/29/24, but they have not processed my refund request yet.

    Dear **************,

We received your BBB complaint and thank you for bringing these situations to our attention. Unfortunately, our employee mistakenly connected you to a number outside of our organization through the electronic phone system.  We have completed new training with our team members to ensure this does not happen again.

Our Grievance Line is outsourced to a confidential, HIPAA-certified third-party company. I have reached out to them for an explanation of why you were given the name of a different organization to file your complaint. The line is confidential, and your information was not given to a different company or business through your voicemail. The error was from the employee at the third-party company and they are handling internally.

Again, our apologies that this has been your experience with Bloom. We work very hard to keep the privacy of our patients a top priority. If you need additional
assistance, please feel free to reach me at: *************************************
