My service dog for 11 years. He passed away unexpectedly from bloat just three months ago. It feels like it's been so long. I rushed him to the vet and tried to save him. I took him to the wrong emergency room. The vet wanted $6,000 to save him. We had already spent $10,000 on him this year and only had $5,000 in savings. The vet wouldn't save him for not even payments on the remaining thousand. They brought him into the room after telling me I couldn't see him til I paid for the xrays he already had to confirm the bloat and for his euthanasia. I laid down on the floor with him and asked the vet to sedate him so I could say my good byes without him in pain. I was also trying to call my dad to get the other thousand. The vet bent the needle for the sedation next thing I knew he had quit breathing. I didn't comprehend at the time why then it occurred to me that instead of getting another needle for sedation the horrible vet injected my boy with the euthanasia medicine without telling me or asking me when it would be okay. My boy was gone. 5 minutes later my dad called me to pay the rest of the money. It was to late my boy was forever gone. I now am without my service dog and don't know how to go on without him. I cry everyday. My husband still doesn't know what happened as I can't speak about it without breaking down. He was my life and how I was able to get up and keep going every day. I've had to euthanize 3 dogs before him and have never had a vet inject them without my saying I was ready. I regret so much taking him there.

*****, we are so sorry for your loss of your sweet dog. Our goal is to help in these scary situations and provide the best possible experience during such a difficult time. While we do understand that veterinary emergencies can be expensive and unexpected, we do need payment to proceed with surgical options. We accept Care Credit and all major credit cards in order to make the financial aspect as easy as possible. We offer all of the options available in these situations and did so in your case. As far as coming in for payment, we handle all of the billing prior to euthanasia to allow our clients the privacy they need after a pet has passed away. That is a very difficult, emotional time and we want to provide you the time to process what has happened and deal with the grief of that. Our veterinarians discuss the euthanasia procedure prior to proceeding to ensure owners are aware of what to expect. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

DO NOT GO HERE. They kicked my wife and my dying dog out because we demanded accountability for a past mistake that led to her preventable condition. We adopted our dog in 2018 and were told she was spayed by the adoption agency (of course). We started noticing symptoms that looked like she was in heat, so we brought her to Cottonwood VCA. They did an ultrasound and the vet told us they couldnt see a uterus. They did a swab and examined it under the microscope and said it looked like tissue affected by estrogen. Their interpretation was that, when she was spayed they likely left some estrogen-producing tissue that would cause heat-like symptoms. That was the story we were given, so it was the story we believed for 5 years. FAST FORWARD to 2023. Our dog Pansy became ill and we brought her to Cottonwood. They did an ultrasound and said she had pyometra, which is an INFECTED UTERUS. She was not spayed, she had a uterus the entire time. My wife asked to speak with a manager or head veterinarian. After HOURS of waiting she finally spoke with someone who completely wrote her off and dismissed her concerns. She finally asked bluntly what avenues we had to explore accountability, and they offered none. As a reminder, they had our dying dog who needed emergency surgery in the back. My wife mentioned the licensing board for a complaint and they swiftly ejected her and our dog. No offer to call another emergency vet, no suggestions on where to take her, nothing. This place is crooked, do not take your pets here. They care about nothing but money. I have doubts they even did an ultrasound back in 2018. And if they did, the vet who read it was clearly incompetent, or over-interpreted nonexistent results. What a joke.
