I ordered a kayak for my friend who has a disability (the paypal payment went through July 3rd 2021). The company and I have had phone calls and numerous emails and chats via their website about shipping. After several days of me asking them when it's shipping, and them telling me it's in stock and shipping delayed but soon, they tell me that the kayak wasn't available to ship due to size and shipping in bulk is easier so theyvwait. They asked me if I'd like to pick out another kayak in place of it. I told them I did and we picked out another kayak with nearly same specifications needed for my friends disability. They said to make up for the issue they would throw in a set of paddles with the new kayak for all the issues. I said ok and asked stock availability and shipping. They said it should be in stock (their website says it's in stock) and order goes in and shipping 5-7 business days (that was July 19). I followed up today and now they are saying the shipping being held up becauseBusiness response

Hello. We ship these kayaks directly from the manufacturer. We are limited to their shipping policies. It is not possible to expedite these large kayaks. They can't even go USPS/FedEx/UPS. If they were a t-shirt or something small, that's a different story. We are also limited to the inventory on hand and the freight carriers schedules. As per our previous correspondence we are happy to refund the transaction in full so the customer can make other arrangements, possibly purchasing something locally. There's no humanly possible way we can expedite a 10' kayak that requires shipment on a semi-truck. If the customer would like to wait, they are certainly welcome to do so. If they would like to cancel, we can submit an immediate full refund. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Feel free to contact us with any other questions.

****** ******** If they could not ship the kayak or have it in stock then why on numerous occasions did they say it was in stock and will ship within 2 weeks and take 5-7 business days to ship after shipping order? I asked specifically to provide shipping updates and was led to believe the 2nd one had shipped and/or was on its way any day now. I am sick of getting jerked around. I just either want the kayak within 2 weeks guaranteed or a complete refund asap to the card on PayPal acct.Business response

We cannot guarantee a 2 week delivery time frame I'm sorry to say. It's simply out of our control, especially going to NY. It looks like originally it was the paddles that were holding up the order. I'll go ahead and submit the cancellation and full refund immediately per your request. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Feel free to contact me with any other questions. I ordered a kodiak tent from this business. I paid extra for a ground tarp. I did not receive the tent poles, stakes, carry bag, or ground tarp for it. The only thing in the box was the canvass. I have contacted the business numerous times and was initially promised a replacement. 3 weeks later and I have not received any replacement parts and the business refuses to respond to me giving me any updates on shipment of replacement parts or product. This is with being polite and understanding about the mistake. Nearly $600 tent that is useless to me.Business response

Customer is absolutely correct on each point. I reported this to the manufacturer's warehouse to send out the missing parts....and I thought it was resolved. I just contacted them to get it resolved immediatley and to contact Mr. ******. I will follow up with the customer tomorrow to ensure he was contacted.

Better Business Bureau:
I contacted Kodiak Canvass directly after learning that Competitive edge doesn’t actually handle the physical product. After doing some research I learned that Kodiak sells replacement tent bodies which don’t include the parts listed above that are missing from my order. Mind you that I purchased a full tent from Competitive edge who does not sell the “tent body” only. Charles did indeed contact Kodiak and had asked them to send a replacement after my initial complaint. This replacement did not initially move forward and no one contacted me and would not respond to my messages. I waited about three weeks before inquiring further. There was some miss communication and they thought I had said the tent itself was used by another customer. The canvass in fact was new just missing the above mentioned components. After contacting Kodiak and speaking with their customer service they reluctantly agreed to send me the missing components. The issue really stands with Kodiak’s customer service but ultimately I did purchase the tent through competitive edge making them responsible for it as well.
