I contracted with Jake V**** to remove the both old railing for my deck and remove the stairs to the deck, build stairs that provide a waterproof enclosed storage area under the stairs, and replace the railing on the deck and stairs with Trex Signature Railing with a cocktail rail on top. The contract price was $14,919. I paid him $10,000 with the remaining amount due at completion. He removed the old railing and stairs and partially completed rebuilding the stairs. This occurred over the course of May and early June, 2021. He has done nothing on the project since. Around the first week of July, I asked in a phone call for him to complete the job or give me a refund for the outstanding work. He erupted in a violent outburst and told me there was no way he was giving me any money. I didn't hear from him again. Around the end of August, his new project manager stopped by to review the project and assured me it would be a priority. A few days later, a worker dropped off railing. This railing was not the Trex I had requested and was damaged beyond use. Since that time, V**** and his staff have refused to return my calls about the project. When I sent an email to his office manager, I received an email in return that I would need to communicate with V****. My requests to him by text or telephone for information have repeatedly gone unanswered for nearly two months. I can only assume he has absconded with my $10,000 payment.
