I was quoted a price of $1,200 to $1,400 for the rebuild of an injector pump since a new one was not available. The pump was rebuilt by Triplet Diesel of ****, **. The cost of the rebuild was $1,415.37. In turn, **** Deere billed me $2,177.41. An increase of $762.04 or 53.8% of the cost of the repair. I was not told that **** Deere would add on a substantial amount to the repair bill or even given the opportunity to decline the repair based upon the add on. In my opinion, I was deceived about the cost of the repair. I have contacted a service advisor at **** Deere without any resolution of this matter. In fact, I requested that my complaint be referred to upper management since the service advisor was not able to address the fact I was not told the true price of the repair or given an opportunity to decline the repair based on the additional cost. I have not been contacted by **** Deere or do I know if this matter has been referred to upper management. The service invoice number is ********. The invoice date is 05/29/2025.

      Dear BBB,

Deere & Company is in receipt of Mr. ******** previous response.  In reviewing his complaint,it appears that Mr. ******* is addressing his complaints about the ************** dealer, and not Deere & Company as the manufacturer.  ************** dealers are independent businesses and are not entities of Deere & Company.

Deere & Company respectfully denies Mr. ******** request and we recommend he reach out to the dealer directly.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

      Best Regards,
      **** *******

We scheduled our winter service with United Ag & Turf in December. Our mower was taken in with no issues. Upon completing the winter service, we received a call from United Ag & Turf that the technician noticed a low tire, loose spindles and oil around the fuel pump. However to confirm these items we would have to pay another $200ish for further diagnostic services. This was in addition to the $277 that we were already being charged for winter servicing. Prior to this year's winter service we have never had any issues, per **** Deere, with the mower. In addition, during these prior years we have always had a warranty plan (that we paid for at the time of purchase) that would have covered any issues. Ironically in the first year we are now outside of our extended warranty, we now have issues with our mower. I attempted to discuss this with ****** at **** Deere to only be dismissed. I requested to speak with a manager, only to have ****** call me requesting payment ****. I am requesting that **** Deere be accountable for this and not continue to charge me for additional diagnostics.

United Ag & Turf picked up Ms. ******* mower and brought into the shop for the annual ************** Special. We completed the *** which includes changing oil, blades, air filter, greasing, and cleaning/leveling the deck. We give a quick visual inspection to every unit when completing a *** to ensure that any machine that comes through our shop leaves in the best condition possible. It is normal to notice components that have failed or could fail during the usage season. When we notice items that need replacing or could need replacing in the immediate future, we notify the customer that we see some issues and request approval from the customer to allow us to investigate further. The reason that we request approval is because we do charge for the technician to complete diagnostics. If the customer approves, we continue with diagnostics, provide a repair quote to the customer, and request a final approval before completing a repair. Concerning Ms. ******* zero turn mower, we did notify her of the items that we noticed, and the additional diagnostics were declined and therefore we did not charge any additional diagnostics. The mower was purchased May 4th,2018, and a maintenance plan and extended warranty were purchased at the time. The extended warranty expired on May 9th, 2024. The Z345R currently has 260 hours of usage. If the machine was still in warranty, none of the items that we informed Ms. ******* of would have been covered by the original factory warranty or the extended warranty. The play in the spindles is normal wear and could potentially not pose an issue for a long period of time or they could fail during the mowing season. The spindles have not failed but wear has been noticed. The low tire would not have been covered under warranty and the leaks mentioned would not have been covered by warranty as they are due to aging rubber hoses.

I am rejecting this response because:

My complaint is not that these items should be covered under warranty, I understand that the warranty expired.  My complaint is for what I feel like is subpar customer service/junk fees.  I was notified of three issues with the mower...the oil leak, the spindles and a low tire when Coufal originally called me.  However now Coufal is asking us to pay an additional $200 plus dollars for diagnostics in addition to repairing these items.  Asking a customer to pay an additional $200 plus to confirm already know repairs is NOT good business.  Coufal discussed these repairs in detail with us already, so why is further diagnostics required.  At the end of the day Coufal Prater is asking us to pay almost $1,000, $250 for the winter service, $200 for the diagnostics, $450 tire, oil leak, spindles material/labor.  When our mower was picked up, we were not experiencing any issues.  We noticed no oil leaking, no low tire and no give in the spindles.  From our perspective this is Coufal taking advantage of a customer who is now outside of their warranty coverage.  Efforts were made to address this directly with Coufal, these were ended by Coufal which is why we filed the complaint with the BBB.  It is our experience that Coufal is not showing goof faith and not providing a level of customer service that is fair and respectful.

      Regards,
      **** ****-******

June 18, 2024. I reported a grease leak from front axle. They rebuilt front axle.Found that 4 hydraulic cylinders were leaking.Rear axle seals were leaking Charge was $9,000.45.When tractor was delivered to my house, it appeared that the brakes were engaged and could not be released. It could be operated but one could feel that the brakes were partially engaged. Tractor was returned to United AG. I visited the company and met with the service manager ,******* and he told me I needed to drive it like a car(starting in 1st gear, shifting to 2nd gear and then to 3rd gear). The tractor was always able to start in 3rd gear before their repairs. The tractor was delivered to my house again. Same problem I returned the tractor to dealer and they sent it back to my house. Altogether they have had the tractor 3 *********, the front axle still leaks, although not as much as before, and brakes appear to be dragging. While in their shop the front grill was broken and they have ordered a new one (To be shipped Dec 27 2024). I feel they are trying to take advantage of my age (90 next month)

Paid **** for a new **** deere riding mower so I could have a warranty because I am disabled and on a fixed income. The mower has 8 hours on it and blew a head gasket and blades won't turn as well as other issues including carburetor needs to be rebuilt. They fixed the other issues but want me to pay for carburetor claiming warranty doesn't cover it. This mover has 8 hours on it and all these problems and they expect me to pay them more money to fix something that is evidently junk to have those type of problems with only 8 hours on it
