      In regards to the late **** Alvena ******, member #***** at Educators Credit Union (ECU), ****, **, her estate has been probated. I am her son and the court assigned, independent executor. One of her beneficiaries, my sister, **** ****** *****, has disclaimed her inheritance (as allowed by Texas Law). She visited the *** branch office on 10 June 2024 to notify them as such in person and in writing. They indicated to her at that time that this was fine. However, after three visits to *** over the past four months, to date, I have been unable to access the funds in question in order to distribute them to the appropriate remaining beneficiaries. I am being told that Ms. ***** cannot disclaim her inheritance. Two employees, including one claiming to be a Vice President, maintain they have never heard of a procedure that allows a beneficiary to disclaim their inheritance. It is worth noting, that during this same timeframe, three other financial institutions where my mother maintained holdings, had no problem allowing the beneficiary to disclaim her assets, so subsequent access was granted immediately. I am not saying that the above represents fraudulent or deceptive practice, but giving the rather dubious record of this credit union over the last few decades, the possibility certainly did come to mind. But I do believe my attempt to ****** outside assistance is indeed warranted. Much thanks in advance for your assistance or forwarding to an appropriate organization.
