On November 9, BBB contacted Ruth & Naomi regarding advertised claims on their website https://ruthandnaomico.com.
Their website advertises they offer: “assistance for families-postpartum mom’s, or families caring for a child with long-term illness, seniors needs;” and “childcare or adult-care (as needed)” along with advertising a disclaimer that states “We are not a Home Healthcare Service, nor do we provide medical services just Home Services. We are not medical personnel and do not advertise ourselves as such.”
Ruth & Naomi Co. LLC also advertises “Taking care of the little things while you care for your love ones, recover from surgery, injury, are postpartum, or just need help managing the housekeeping.”
Lastly, Ruth & Naomi Co. LLC advertise they ” Take care of your required needs with special attention to families and seniors in their time of need” and offer “Adult/Childcare.” Ruth & Naomi Co. LLC responded the advertisement is in reference to the caregiver running errands.
BBB Code of Advertising states the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
BBB Code of Advertising also states misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements but by omitting or obscuring a material fact. According to the State of Texas (https://texreg.sos.state.tx.us/fids/202101239-4.pdf), a caregiver is only exempt from licensing if the caregiver has written agreement with a parent to provide residential care and does not care for more than one unrelated child or sibling group.
BBB requested Ruth & Naomi Co. LLC to discontinue the use of the terms “postpartum”, and any other terms that might be interpreted as a home healthcare service including modifying their website only advertise they offer housekeeping services.
BBB also requested Ruth & Naomi Co. LLC to discontinue the use of the terms “Adult care” and “Childcare” and only advertise the services they provide.
Ruth & Naomi Co. LLC responded to BBB's request stating they made the necessary corrections to their website to highlight they are not a home health service. Only offering support to family and seniors in caring for their home or daily tasks.
As of December 2, 2021, Ruth & Naomi Co. LLC failed to make modifications to its website.
