We had a sewer backup that we placed a claim with our home warranty company for. They assigned us Zeus Plumbing to check things out. The tech diagnosed a clog under the house specifically under the fireplace in our living room. He could not unclog it with the auger so he tried to do it with a high pressure water flush. After unclogging, he said that the pipe was now broken under the porch, which he wouldve been able to see when he first looked at the clog, because he had gone from the clean out with the camera, auger, and water flush. They quoted us $4875 to repair the sewer pipe and we scheduled with them to repair it on May 16th, paying half up front and thinking that some of it would be covered by home insurance and warranty. We learned that it would not be covered at all and do not have the money to pay right now so I called to cancel on May 15th, they said they understood.May 16th I called again to ask when we would get our deposit back since no work had been done. They stated that there is a 25% fee that they keep no matter what. They would not provide an itemized receipt for any equipment or items that had been rented/ purchased for the job. I would understand if they kept deposit money to cover their expenses that they had accrued to cover themselves. $1200 with no explanation is shady, greedy business though. I hope that their morals and practices change in the future or that everyone learns of their way of business.

The evening of March 1, my hot water heater flooded my garage. I filed a claim online with American Home Shield (AHS) and filed a claim. The next day AHS sent Zeus Plumbing, ****************************************** out to my home and they inspected my hot water heater. They said it was out of code and my portion would cost $1,989 and AHS would cover the equipment and labor to install. They said they could fix the next day and i had to pay 1/2 upfront. They had me sign 3 places on the plumbers I phone and i asked what i was signing and he said "oh it is just to say Zeus Plumbing will be completing the repair". The following day they called me and said that AHS could not find my unit and it would be 6-8 weeks before i could get a new one installed. I said that was not acceptable. The next day i placed many calls and found my unit at many locations such as *********** ****** Plumbing and ******** Plumbing. So on March 5, I called Zeus Plumbing and canceled the repair as it was NOT acceptable for a person to wait 6-8 week for hot water to their home. I then called AHS and told them I wanted a cash option so i could replace myself. I called Zeus 7 times after the original cancellation and they kept coming up with excuses about needed the owners sign-off and where he wasn't available. After two weeks and me threatening in disputing with my Bank, a manager came on the phone and told me i would have my refund by Friday, today, March 18. I did not receive anything so i called again and they said they mailed in today and by the way, the check would be less 25% per their contract that i signed. They did no work, did not bring any materials, they only made the original service call which I paid $75 through AHS which they received. I told them I would be contacting my bank, ************ 4, and BBB. I am a divorced mother and a senior citizen and feel they are trying to take advantage of me and how many other people have they done this to?

On this particular job the home warranty was providing the water heater. Since we are the contractor and not in charge of purchasing the water heater for this job we were not in control of when the water heater would be received. We did contact AHS requesting authorization to purchase the water heater ourselves so the customer wouldnt have to wait as long, but it was denied. AHS insisted on supplying the water heater for this job. Our company policy is to charge a deposit of half of the job cost when a job is scheduled. We have the customer sign the estimate and agree to the terms of ************ the estimate is signed and we start preparing for the repair, then if the job is cancelled and a refund is requested, we withhold 25% of the total job cost. This is listed under the terms and conditions of the estimate.
