********* a subscription at ******* with agents selling newspaper inside. Supposedly I'll be getting the newspaper. 3 weeks past by. No newspaper, I called the customer service department and asked for a refund, they said I can not get a refund that I just need to get the subscription and they just make sure I get my Sundays on time. I told them, that with that kind of service, I don't want it, I just want a refund, again they told me I can not get a refund.

I cancelled a long time ago because of poor customer service and only getting 1 paper and that was fall of 2023. Since the last week of October 2024 I am getting calls from them daily. I don't take the call and I block the number only for them to call me from another number. You would think this company could take a hint and stop blowing my phone up with calls. I will NEVER use your services again. Stop calling me and put my number on your do not call list.

I subscribed to the Express-News home delivery for over twenty-one years. That just ended today.I have always made monthly (four weeks at a time) payments by phone. However, last week, Express-News charged my debit card without my authorization. When I called, they said I requested auto-renewal, but they'd have to research how I did so. It's simply not true. I don't auto-renew anything with anyone. They also said they cannot refund my money. Unacceptable. The supervisor gave me an e-mail address as an option to elevate the matter. I wrote, requesting a full refund of the amount of the unauthorized auto-renewal. I was already paid through November 2nd when they took the additional payment.) I also stated that if the refund is not processed by Friday, November 1, I will cancel my subscription the next day (my previous 'paid-though' date).I received a reply within minutes that said, "we're sad to hear you are cancelling...please let us know why...your delivery will end tomorrow". Seriously?

Sorry I was not able to speak with you when I called to discuss your account further. After reviewing your account I see you called through the automated system and setup the automatic payment and then called to speak with a representative and submitted a one-time payment. Please call when you get a chance to discuss further.

Incredibly, this is still not fixed. On November 5, I finally received the refund for the unauthorized charge. With that processed, I called to pay for an additional four weeks (***** NOV). My expectation, of course, is that I would pay the same amount ($54.00) as I had paid for the previous four-week period. Instead, he quoted me with $63.00 because, he said, the price went up. I asked what the effective date of that increase was and why I had not received notification. He couldn't / wouldn't answer either. He asked me to hold while he tried to get me a better rate. He came back with a $59.00 quote. I reluctantly agreed to pay $59.00. He then processed a payment for $85.37. What? He said he added a 'past-due' amount that was showing on his screen. First, I had no past due amount. Second, when I authorize a payment of $59.00, that means $59.00. I told him to cancel that payment immediately and to connect me with a supervisor. After two minutes on hold, the line went dead. Now I have to go through the whole mess again of trying to get my money back. Unbelievable.

They're criminals. I cancelled my subscription yesterday. It's a shame. It hurts the journalists when they lose a customer, but their business office is so corrupt that I simply refuse to do business with them another day.

    1-Star Review:
I subscribed to a 13-week paper subscription with the option to cancel anytime, thinking it would be convenient and flexible. However, I was disappointed to find that my account was charged 10 days before the renewal period even began. When I called customer service to address this, I was met with unhelpful responses. They claimed automatic payment terms applied, even though the promotional terms I signed up for were supposed to prevail.
Despite pointing out this discrepancy, I received no written confirmation about my complaint, no effort to refund the charge, and an overall dismissive attitude. It’s deceptive to advertise a “cancel anytime” subscription if they ignore their own terms and charge early without notice. Very poor experience, and I won’t be recommending them to others.

    Mr.  Ramirez

Our terms and conditions state you the Express News charges 10 days in advance of the renewal date. Digital subscriptions are non-refundable. I will make an exception and cancel the account immediately and refund the last charge.

This company makes it impossible to cancel a subscription. I have called their subscription management telephone number multiple times to cancel my digital subscription. This is the only method they offer to try and cancel your subscription. I can't even get a person, I am left on hold 20 minutes and then it automatically hangs up .

Express and News has charged my account for news papers never received. I know they never even tried to deliver because I live in a gated complex and they gave to call to be let in gate

    **************,

The carrier will not be able to call you to gain access to your complex. The carrier starts their shift very early. Please provide us a gate code so the carrier can deliver the paper. I will email you my contact information so you can provide the gate code.

Be very careful if you sign up to receive this newspaper. I have tried to cancel this numerous times only to keep getting billed every month. When you ask for a confirmation for the cancellation they say that they do not provide a written cancellation as the agreement is made over the phone. Also, when asked why I wanted to cancel they were extremely rude and I was hung up on. If I am billed again, I will be forced to dispute the charge and/or get a new card. I do not know how they can get away with this. Consider yourself warned!

    ******************,

My apologies for the experience you had with customer service. After reviewing your account I show you called on 5/1/24 and agreed to continue your service. The next communication was dated 7/23/24 and spoke to customer service requesting to cancel your subscription. **************** will make attempts to continue your service and ask the reason for the cancelation. My apologies they were rude to you. Since you disputed your latest charge to your bank you will receive your refund through the bank. I have canceled your account effective immediately.

I was at the store and a sales person was advertising this business at a completely different price than what I was charged for. In no way what so ever was I disclosed the price I was charged. I would like a refund since I never actually got the services, was never disclosed the price, nor was provided the terms of service when signing up. This is a misleading business practice altogether and needs to be addressed.

I never signed up for this subscription and never received emails stating I signed up for this. I called to cancel and to get a refund for this unauthorized transaction and they said sorry there is no refunds. I dont even live in *** Antonio and have no idea how I was conned into this. Beware of anyone affiliated with this company. They do bad business!

I see many others have fallen for the same scam. They offer a 3-month trial for 25cents/month. Beware, however, they bill your credit card for s full subscription 10 days before the end of the trial period. Then they tell you absolutely no refunds! This is a deliberate trick to scam people! I am convinced that it is illegal but the average person can do nothing! Very dishonest!

    ************,

I am sorry to hear that you had this experience.  Our terms and conditions are that you may cancel any time, but we do not offer refunds.

The terms also state that the ******* ********* will charge in 10 days in advance of the renewal date. The only charge I see on your account is the initial charge of $.25 since the account just started on 6/27/24.
