    We closed on our Monticello Home on 3/6/23. Soon after closing, it was discovered that we had a sewer line broken which resulted in one of our three driveways having to be dug up and re-poured on 4/4. The issue is the concrete that was poured is grey while the other two driveways and the rest of the concrete in and around our home is brown.This is not only an eyesore but will severely affect our market value when we sell as buyers will perceive that the home has needed significant structural repair. Before the driveway was dug up and re-poured, I stressed to the building supervisor **** that I was very concerned that the driveway not stand out from our others. **** assured us that Monticello would make sure the repair was done right and that it was reiterated by his boss. Within days of the driveway being re-poured, I communicated to **** that it was clear that the concrete was a different color. **** recommended giving it a month to see if the color changed and added if we have to chip more slabs then well chip more slabs. On 5/22, **** relayed to me that his boss drove by our home and, although he recognizes the driveways are different colors, Monticello considers the matter closed because the driveway is structurally sound.From our standpoint, we have not been made whole. Before the repair (that was not our fault in any way), we had three driveways all the same color. If the driveway was in the condition it is now prior to closing, we would have never purchased this home. We paid $706k for this home and the very first thing anyone who visits notices is that the driveway repair stands out. On 6/9, we paid $2k for a contractor to pour a sealant on all our driveways to make them the same color. We've worked with Monticello for 2 months to get reimbursed but have not come to an agreement.Monticello presents themselves as a luxury home builder so we expected a high-quality repair and want them to stand by their commitment to quality and remedy the situation

    We bought our home from Monticello 15 months ago. (Note, it was a spec home under contract with a buyer who backed out. All we got to pick was the carpet.) I wouldn't buy from them directly again, and in fact, I'd be wary of buying an older Monticello home now too. Our almost $800K "semi-custom" home feels like a tract home.Buyer beware:1. You'll need to budget to repaint your entire home b/c they put one thin coat of flat paint over a very thin/cheap texture, and you absolutely, 100%, cannot clean your walls. Sticky fingers = paint and texture gone with one wipe from a warm rag. I've heard this from neighbors too.2. After 15 months in our home, our pony wall came loose. That's right - a loose wall in a home to a 4 year old.3. Our super cool, frameless shower, still leaks. They've been over 12 times to "fix" it. First, never get a frameless shower, and two never get one in a Monticello home.4. Our son opened the door to the pantry hard and the hinge popped a hole in the door. They're nothing but paper thin plywood-type material.5. Monticello chose white cabinets for the entire house. In every bathroom and the kitchen we have cabinets with deep paint chips and a few area on the island where the wood is splitting. Budget for handles, but I'm not entirely sure that will even help. Or budget to completely repaint your cabinetry.6. The doors, handles, light fixtures, and faucets that come with the house are cheap. Budget to upgrade if you want your home to look like the amount you paid!Overall, just don't do it. It's a giant, cheap house.
