  • Advertising Review:

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On March 17, 2023, BBB contacted the business regarding advertised claimed results on their website: https://www.texasmigraineclinic.com.

Amongst other claims Texas Migraine Clinic advertises they provide "Natural Alternatives to Surgery for lasting headache & migraine relief."

Texas Migraine Clinic also advertises claimed results alleging "4,200+ of our previous patients from Texasand around the world no longer need to avoid triggers, take medications &injections, or continue with other non-lasting therapies and treatments (suchas acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, supplements, and other interventions).

Typical outcomes are 75% relief of headaches and migraines at 3 weeksand 90% relief at 6 weeks, including dizziness and nausea.  Though not guaranteed, due to possibleindividual complexities, it is routine that you will no longer needmedications, alternative therapies, or control of triggers after treatment withthis System.”

"Can this treatment actually do what itclaims? How effective is it?" "Although peer-reviewed research isideal, it is impractical and rare in a private practice, clinicalsetting." "We rely on existing supportive research of our theoreticalframework, internal stats of outcomes, which we record digitally in our clinic, common sense with regard to immediate symptom response with patient testing(i.e., what makes symptoms immediately better or worse) and the many detailedpatient testimonials in our Google Reviews, and other review sites."

BBB Code of Advertising States that claims relating to performance, energysavings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be basedon recent and competent testing or other objective data.

BBB requested Texas Migraine Clinic substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating theclaims and the advertised effectiveness of treatments advertised.

Texas Migraine Clinic’s video advertised on their website https://www.texasmigraineclinic.com/migraine-answers/ states that (0:00-2:41) “Migrainesare not a disease.

BBB Code of Advertising States The primary responsibility for truthful andnon-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser.  Advertisers should be prepared tosubstantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication orbroadcast.  Upon request, they should presentsuch substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.

According to American Migraine Foundation:” (Migraines) It’s adisabling neurological disease with different symptoms and different treatmentapproaches compared to other headache disorders.” https://americanmigrainefoundation.org/resource-library/what-is-migraine/.  BBB requested Texas Migraine Clinic tosubstantiate the advertised claims which referred to migraines as not a disease by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating the claims in their advertisement or discontinuing the claim.
