Hired this person to complete a finish-out of a small office that consisted of removing a wall partition, removal of several windows/door, removal of tile, repair sheetrock, texture & paint said areas. Once we met and discussed what needed to be done and made him aware of the deadline, we were assured by ************** that he would be able to complete the job. A deposit was paid promptly, and work began shortly thereafter. Several days before the deadline, we inspected the progress and was not satisfied with the sheetrock repair. We then notified ************** via phone call, to which he replied that his original sheetrock contractor had canceled; therefore, he did the work himself and that he was standing by his work. We asked several times for him to come back and look at what we were referring to. ************** declined to come speak to us in person or perform any further repairs and immediately threatened to file a lien. We asked him to come remove his items from our location and that we would hire another person to finish his job correctly. The amount we were to be charged from the repair would be deducted from his final invoice. Once the repairs were completed and we received the invoices, we then sent ************** a certified letter detailing the timeline of our dispute, the final amount owed to him, copies of the repair invoices, pictures of the un-satisfactory work and a lien release. ************** responded via email that he would NOT accept the amount owed nor would he sign the lien release. He proceeded in accusing us of sugar coating, falsifying invoices and overall lying about the repairs that were completed by others. He gave us till 7/31/21 to pay him or else he was going to file the lien against the property. After consulting with our attorney, we decided to settle with ************** as we have no interest in spending any more time or money, thus dragging this issue out further. I personally gave ************** his final payment at the bank to settle the matter quickly. He was unable to cash the check (Unable to prove he was owner of Great ***************************** however the bank manager assured him that there was more than enough in the account for the check to clear. I asked for him to sign the lien release as we had completed our end of the deal and yet again, he refused to sign. In the end, I believe that ************** is fully capable of performing his job, however because his sheetrock contractor failed to show up, he determined that he could do it himself. Unfortunately, sheetrock repair & texturing is not his strong suit. We had hoped that he would have come to look at exactly what we were talking about and tried to settle this as adults and not immediately threatening legal action. As a fellow Veteran-owned business owner, I am dissatisfied in ********** actions. We are very pro-business, especially with Veteran and/or locally owned and believe that we can all support each other. We will not be using Great Dane Construction Services again nor will we refer them to anyone.
