In June 2023, I purchased a solar panel system from Green Light Solar, LLC for $47,373, financed through **********. During the sales process, the representative promised the system would offset approximately 83% of our electricity usage and that we would only owe utility charges during high-usage months (like September). These representations were a key reason I agreed to the purchase and are documented in writing and contemporaneous text messages. After 18 months, the system has only delivered around 23% energy independence and roughly 55% actual offset far below what was promised. I am still paying regular utility bills, which contradicts the financial and energy savings I was led to expect. I am now preparing to sell my home, and Im concerned the underperformance and financing terms will negatively affect my ability to do so.I am seeking resolution from Green Light Solar in the form of compensation, correction, or cancellation of the system financing due to misrepresentation and failure to meet advertised performance.Initial Complaint

The product was finally installed and operating on 6/20/24. The initial transaction began 2/22/24. The transaction was amended on 3/12/24 when Greenlight Solar LLC analyzed my property and devised a setup plan.Because of high electric bills, I found an ad on the internet about a solar company. I ended up communicating with **** **** who worked with ******************. I fully explained my desire to find a way to pay LESS for electricity. After eloquently explaining how a solar system could SAVE money on my electric bill, he ended up telling me how they could have a system installed and I would be paying $310.03 per month for the system and eventually only be paying a little over $20 per month to Entergy. On 2/22/24 I signed the paperwork. The loan was for $77,600 and would be paid over a 25 year period. On p. 9 of the contract, it has my estimated annual usage (based on what I showed him from my Entergy bills) of ****** kWh. Their estimated annual production projected was ****** kWh. The offset would be *****%. I didnt stop and do the math as I was TRUSTING. The year prior I had paid $4,924.33 for electricity. 45.9% of $4,924.33 is $2,260.27. Divided by 12 that is a savings of $188.36 per month. Since the system is costing me $310.03 per month, in reality I would be paying $121.67 MORE per month for electricity. Then, on 3/12/24 it was revised: the system will produce approximately ****** kWh annually. That is only an offset of only 39.2%. When you do the math as in the preceding paragraph, it ends up that I would be paying $149.17 EXTRA per month for electricity! The contract invalidates prior verbal agreements and prohibits taking them to court. This was a carefully crafted deceptive scam!As of today 6/17/25 (3 days away from one year of production) their system has produced only ****** kWh. Their agreement said that it would produce ****** kWh annually.Initial Complaint

My experience with Greenlight Solar, an authorized Enphase installer, has been deeply disappointing and frustrating. What should have been an exciting transition to renewable energy was undermined by some of the worst communication I have ever encountered as a consumer.Throughout the installation process, I faced multiple delays caused by the companys failure to respond to calls or voicemails. No one at the main office returned messages, and there was no proactive outreach or follow-up. Issues went unresolved for extended periods due to a complete lack of communication. After the system was installed, the problems continued. Following the installation of a standby generator at my home, a metering issue arose. I scheduled two service visits and took time off work on both occasions, only for no one to show up. There was no notification, explanation, or response when I attempted to follow up.When I finally reached someone after repeated efforts, I was met with unprofessional and dismissive behavior. Excuses were given, but no accountability was taken for missed appointments or poor service. For the cost of these systems, the absolute minimum a company should offer is consistent communication and respect for a customers ******* my opinion, ****************************************************************** practices reflect poorly on the Enphase brand. I urge Enphase to investigate whether this installer meets the standards expected of its partners.I would not recommend Greenlight Solar to anyone considering solar. Choose a company that will communicate, show up, and support the system you invest in. Greenlight Solar failed on all of those counts in my experience.Initial Complaint

I purchased a solar system with battery backup power 01/03/2024. When it took about a entire year to get it installed and working, I should have complained then. But I did not see any action on my Entergy bill until 05/05/2025 bill. I was told My bill would be about $20.00 plus pay solar from $319-$457 my bill w/Entergy is $87.23 and the finance company (**********) sent me a bill of $435.25 "and inform me that I have to pay $30,000.00 by 04/28/2026 or the bill will be $635.25 .EverBright **** called it a balloon payment. I would never had agreed to this because it is impossible for me to pay this balloon payment. EverBright, P O Box *****, ************************** , acct # **********Initial Complaint

NOTE: My address may also be listed in their system as "***************". This address and my address entered are the same physical address.I bought a solar system 06/18/2024 from Green Light Solar LLC by a sales *** named ****** ******* in partnership with ***** ******. I have tried to reach out several times in the past two months with questions about filing for my tax credit I am entitled to, but nobody has been able to answer me. Instead, they have sent me in circles trying to contact people whose e-mail addresses do not work and whose phone numbers are not set up to take calls or voice mail. All I have is questions on how to proceed with this tax credit, and for the better part of a month, they seem to be actively ghosting **** was told when I bought this system that I would be able to monetize my tax credit for use as I see fit. I planned on using the money to put back into the solar loan as per my attached contract in order to keep my monthly payments consistent. When filing with the ***, I am told this is a non-refundable tax credit, and I am confused as to how this is supposed to be put back into my solar loan, if at all. I asked several times during the purchasing process, and ****** ******* told me that the tax credit would come in the form of a check that I could choose to send back to the party responsible for taking payments of my loan.Initial Complaint

Decided to go solar and green light had contacted us back about a great deal The solar panels cost (amount financed $52702.50) (total sale price $88784.41) well they informed us about the buy down method which takes the solar tax credit and lets you apply it to your bill. When filing the taxes you find out that the credit can not be obtained it can only be used if you owe taxes. So the company lied to us telling us we could use the estimated return for us of $15810.75 to lower our monthly payments but the credit cant be used.Initial Complaint

Solar panel company scamming us. It doesn't work. This company installed solar panels on our house. From day one it has been a mess. I can tell the story much better in person. In the end they ended up putting 380 wat panels on our house instead of the 400 wat they said they were going to put on. In the beginning, they guaranteed me that these panels would produce 103% of the energy that our house consumed. I insisted that it did because the whole point of getting these panels was to eliminate our electric bill. They assured me that it would. That was a lie. Since getting them they have averaged about 60% or what our house uses. We therefore have been paying the electric company AND paying for these panels ever since. They added 2 extra panels when they installed them and said they would make up the difference in the wattage. That was another lie. Enphase, the company that monitors our system, has assured me that doing that would NOT remedy the issue. I have tried to work with the company that sold us this system but they just keep giving me the run around. It is to the point where they will not answer my phone calls, messages, or emails. I even emailed the CEO of the company and have received no response. I ended up giving them a deadline of 11/1/2024 to respond and work to resolve this issue. They failed to respond. I am now compelled to find an attorney who will work on a " I don't get paid unless we win" basis. I see no way that we can lose this case. Enphase has all of the daily, monthly, and yearly outputs of these panels in their records, as well as real time monitoring. I also saved all of the emails that I have sent to them and the installers. And I have all of our electric bills. The name of the company is Greenlight solar. They have misrepresented themselves and these panels from the beginning until now. We also received 10K from the Govt. Had to pay it to them or our payment would have been ****** a month instead of *****.Business Response

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. At Greenlight Solar, we strive for transparency and want to ensure that all aspects of your solar installation are clearly understood.
To clarify, Greenlights role in your solar project was solely to install the equipment as specified in the contract created and held by *********************** (ESD). The agreement between you and *** specifies the installation of 29 panels, which is exactly what was installed. Greenlight was contracted by *** to complete the installation as per the terms of that agreement.
Regarding your concerns about production guarantees, such as the promise of 100% deletion of your utility bill, these guarantees fall under **** responsibility as the sales entity. Any remedies, such as adding more panels to address production concerns, would need to be facilitated and approved by ESD.
We are happy to assist you in contacting ESD to help clear up these issues and address your concerns. Please let us know if you would like our assistance in facilitating communication with them.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.] Until this situation is fully resolved I will keep this complaint. Namely because this is the same thing that has been happening since I got these panels. *** says it is the installers problem. Greenlight Solar says it is ESD's problem. I have heard this all before. I am at the point that I don't care WHO's problem it is I just want the matter resolved. It seems to me that Greenlight solar can easily communicate with ESD and get the issue resolved of who's responsibility it is to take care of this. I am not going to be given the run-around AGAIN!
Regards,
****** *******
