1 starDo not use American Knights nor International Van Lines if you value your belongings. This company was subcontracted by IVL without our knowledge. It was an in state move with 3 months of what was supposed to be climate controlled storage. Twenty eight pieces of furniture were delivered damaged in transit and/or storage. Items were water damaged, heat damaged, functionally damaged, scratched, torn or totally destroyed. The claims process took two months and resulted a payment offer of $400 based on $.60 per pound per item. It's going to cost in the neighborhood of $10,000 to repair or replace the damaged items.Review fromAlex A

1 starContaminated our Boxes and Apartment with Rat-Waste Biohazards
Exhausting and completely unacceptable behavior on multiple fronts but let's go through this.
1: On pick-up they were a full day late and we were not given advanced warning of it until several hours after they were to arrive.
2: Following day were told they'd arrive at 8:00, didn't arrive until 11
3: Didn't write down the "latest delivery date" on contract while claiming it verbally, presumably to prevent liabilities.
4: No attempt to deliver by the specified date, waited 6 weeks for drop-off. Boxes were just put into a local storage unit and untouched for over a month while movers kept saying they needed to find a truck. Delivery time estimate was between 9-11 am and they didn't arrive until noon.
5: Entire boxes and all large furniture (couches, desks) were contaminated with rat droppings and urine which were also tracked throughout the whole house. Biohazard cleanup company advised clothes should be unpacked outside in case dead rats fall out and every item from boxes should be sanitized or discarded. Entire household requires cleaning as well.
6: Ignoring the biohazards for a moment (what a statement) some other boxes showed severe physical damage as if tossed around or jammed into hard objects and many boxes were crushed at the top as if from dropping on top of one another.
***** consistently and excessively late, rough handling of boxes, and egregious biohazard contamination from rodents.American Knights Moving & Storage, Inc.

Dear BBB Board, please review our response to the customer from 11/3/2023. However, we have not received any reply from them to date:
Hello Ayla and Alex,
We are writing in response to your recent complaint about
American Knights Moving. We take your concerns very seriously and would like to
address each of the issues you have raised.
Pick-Up Window Change: Your concern regarding
the pick-up date is not credible. During the booking process, you were
informed that the pick-up date needed a 2-day window, and you agreed to
this in our email correspondence. The change in the pick-up window was
made to accommodate your requested date of September 15, which you
confirmed in writing during the booking process on 09/12/2023. This change
was made in accordance with your preference, and you sent an email
confirmation of a 2-day window for the pick-up. Therefore, your statement
is not applicable in this case.
Arrival Time: The arrival time for
the pick-up on September 16 was confirmed to be between 8:00 AM and 11:00
AM, and our crew arrived at 11:00 AM, as agreed upon. Therefore, there was
no violation in this regard, and the "delay" was within the
confirmed time frame.
Latest Delivery Date: Your decision to opt
for the consolidated move with a flexible delivery window of up to 21
business days since the first ready date, as provided by you, was duly
explained and agreed upon during the booking process. It's important to
note that the actual contract specifies up to 30 business days for
delivery, but as an internal company decision, we limited this period to
21 business days. Each late business day is compensated by the company,
and we applied a $175 discount for the 7 business days of delay, as
indicated and applied to the delivery balance. In the case of a
consolidated move, there is no "latest delivery date"; instead,
there is a commitment to deliver the household goods within 21 business
days from the first ready date provided by the customer, which in this
particular case was 09/18/23. It's worth mentioning that while a direct
move is more expensive, it offers a shorter delivery window of 3-5
business days.
Delivery Delays: We apologize for any
inconvenience caused by the delay in your delivery. Please understand that
various factors beyond our control, such as weather and traffic
conditions, can affect delivery schedules. However, you should be
compensated for each late business day of the delivery after 21 business
days if applicable.
Contamination: We take your concerns
about rodent droppings very seriously. We have investigated this issue
with our crew foreman based on the pictures you shared. In fact, we
contacted the storage facility and addressed this issue. The storage
facility mentioned that they periodically conduct pest control, but it may
not be 100% effective when food is stored with belongings. After a
thorough analysis, American Knights would like to apologize and offer
reimbursement for disinfection treatment of up to $500.00.
Damage to Items: We also acknowledge
your concern about damaged items. We have requested pictures of the
damaged items but have not received them to date. Additionally, you have
not registered a CSI claim. We are committed to addressing any damages
promptly, but we need your cooperation to make progress on this matter.
American Knights Moving is dedicated to resolving issues and
improving our services. However, without your cooperation, this process may
remain unresolved. Please feel free to reply or to contact our customer service
team if you have any questions or concerns. We value your feedback and
apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced during your move. We
are committed to continuing to work with you until we find an agreed-upon
solution.Review fromShaul R

1 starMy move was disappointing. It appeared that everything was packed well. In fact, almost everything that was wrapped and put in boxes survived. A couple of items did break that were well wrapped and a couple items were damaged that were thrown in boxes with no wrapping (lamp shades, model sail boats). The biggest disappointed was the furniture that was blanket wrapped. Two mattress that were wrapped in plastic as required had gotten wet and are totally ruined. The Baker dining room table also got wet somewhere in the process. The finish turned white and pealed, mold grew on the surface, the legs are now wobbly. A French sofa had the two rear carved legs broken off and only one made it to the house. A French buffet had the onyx top split in half, one carved leg with a large chunk missing and another carved front leg missing all together. A French leather chair apparently had something heavy sitting in the seat and stretched the leather out shape and will not return to its original shape. Many items have scratches and nicks. I cannot recommend this company.American Knights Moving & Storage, Inc.

Good morning, Jeff!
I hope this email finds you well. We would like to address the recent resolution of your damage claim with American Knights Moving. After careful consideration and review of the situation, we have determined a fair compensation amount for the damages you reported.
We understand that you initially received a CSI resolution for your damage claim in the amount of $***. However, in light of our commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction and goodwill, we are pleased to offer an additional compensation of $***. This brings the total compensation amount to $****.
We want to emphasize that while this compensation may not fully cover the extent of the damages incurred, it reflects our genuine desire to make things right. Unfortunately, without the full valuation protection, our options for providing complete value or replacement are limited.
To proceed with this resolution, we kindly request you to review the attached document. This document outlines the revised compensation amount and terms. In order to finalize this process, we require your signature on the document in the presence of a notary. You can conveniently complete this step at any local bank branch where notary services are provided free of charge. 2 starsBe Careful, In the beginning, Jennifer, the person I talked to the most was wonderful. Took 2 weeks to finally get our belongings . We moved 900 miles from Houston. The first set of guys, wrapped everything very securely and we were satisfied. When we finally got our things, stuff had been re-wrapped and several things broken. Our heavy duty tubs, 6 were crushed and lids broken. Furniture that had been re-wrapped did NOT have the broken pieces included in the wrapping. In clothes tubs, lots of broken hangers, but pieces didn't match. Broken dishes and crushed accordion and case. For the moving cost we did not deserve this type of service. I was told I would be issued a refund if I didn't use 750 cu. ft. I eliminated all big furniture because of moving costs, but when I called, manager hasn't called me back. He said nobody went thru our stuff, We have too much evidence to prove otherwise.American Knights Moving & Storage, Inc.

Hello Janet *****!
We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns raised in your recent Better Business Bureau review regarding your moving experience with American Knights Moving. We apologize for any inconvenience and dissatisfaction you experienced during the process.
After conducting a thorough investigation into your case, we would like to address the issues you raised regarding the timeline of your move and the damages to your belongings.
Regarding the timeline, your scheduled pick-up date was 06/26/23, and we successfully completed the delivery on 07/09/23. We acknowledge that the overall duration of the move was 9 business days with 5 days excluded: 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays, and Independence Day (Tuesday, July 4, 2023). We also recognize that you agreed to flexible delivery, allowing up to 21 business days from the first ready date you provided - 06/26/23. Based on this information, we completed the delivery within the agreed-upon timeframe, adhering to the terms of the contract.
Regarding your request for the refund, our records show that the original estimate was based on a volume of 750 cubic feet with 71 pieces. During the pick-up, you chose to exclude your sofa, reducing the volume to 700 cubic feet with 70 pieces. However, upon reviewing the paperwork, we identified that an additional 31 pieces were included in the inventory, which comprised items like 1 plastic shelf (10 cf), 2 suitcases (20 cf), and 5 bins (20 cf). Additionally, there were other items, such as 2 dish packs, 2 medium boxes, 3 picture boxes, and a sewing machine, that were added during the move. Considering these additional items, the total volume of 101 pieces has increased beyond the original estimate of 750 CF, however American Knights Moving did not charge you for the additional cubic footage.
We understand your frustration with the damages to your belongings, and we want to assure you that we take this matter seriously. To facilitate a prompt resolution, we kindly request that you share photographs of the damaged items with our claims handling partner, CSI Company. They are responsible for processing claims based on the basic valuation protection you selected in your contract. Once CSI Company receives the necessary information, they will thoroughly assess the damages and guide you through the claims process to ensure a fair resolution in accordance with the valuation protection terms. The claim process information shared with you via your email earlier, if you cannot find the email with the claim process information, please check your spam folder.
At American Knights Moving, we strive to provide excellent customer service, and we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we are committed to working towards a satisfactory resolution for you. If you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service department at 281-345-2695 EXT. 774 or [email protected]. We are available to address your concerns and assist you in any way we can.
Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We are dedicated to resolving this matter to your satisfaction.
Sincerely,

1 starBeware! I have nice things that I thought were going to be handled with great care. Most of my furniture sustained damage. A beautiful antique dresser with chunks of wood broken off. Brand new custom Ethan Allen furniture that looked like someone had taken a bowie knife and hacked the back legs of my chairs. Other items damaged so badly they can no longer be used. Antique etchings with museum quality framing that were wrapped in paper and crammed in a box with other items, and when unwrapped, pieces of wood was falling out where they were damaged. Some boxes had items protruding from the inside where they had been handled so roughly. They failed to deliver my mattress, so I had to go out and buy a new one. They removed my headrest from my new leather office chair and lost it. When they were packing my things I had to intervene several times because of how they were handling my antique oil paintings. They had no clue how to properly fold Persian rugs for transport. Those kids, many of which could not speak English, appeared to be totally untrained. Uri K. the Sales and Marketing Manager for the company was totally unreliable. He would tell me he was going to call me and wouldn’t. I finally gave up. This moving company should not be moving fine furnishings and Art; they should stick to college kids with futons and Ikea. It cannot be overstated how thoroughly disgusted and sickened by what they put me though. They should not be allowed to be in business. There is so much more I could say about the job they did but it would go on forever. Again, Beware!American Knights Moving & Storage, Inc.

Dear customer,
We are sorry to hear about your negative experience with American Knights Moving. We understand your frustration and disappointment regarding the damages sustained by your furniture during the move. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Upon receiving your claim, American Knights Moving initiated the claim process and provided you with the necessary information on May 23, 2023. After analyzing your claim and considering the basic valuation protection you had selected (60 cents per pound per item), a claim resolution amount of $172.65 was determined. However, we acknowledge that this amount did not fully cover the cost of your missing mattress.
As a gesture of goodwill, the support manager at American Knights Moving has decided to offer additional compensation of $500.00. When combined with the claim resolution amount, the total compensation offered to you is $672.65. We believe this is a significant amount, considering the protection level you had chosen.
Although the missing mattress was already included in the claim settlement on June 5, 2023, the manager explained that AKM staff had located a queen mattress in their storage facility. However, there was no inventory sticker on it. They shared a picture of the mattress with you, but you were unable to identify it from the photo.
On June 7, 2023, the manager emailed you to inform you that they were unable to locate the brand ticket on the mattress, and therefore AKM could not confirm if it belongs to you. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and asked for your decision regarding the courtesy compensation. However, it seems that the company has not yet received a response from you to proceed with resolving the situation.
We understand that resolving this situation requires shared responsibility, and we kindly request that you respond to the company's emails to facilitate the resolution process. It is important to maintain open communication in order to effectively address your concerns. If you have not received the email from June 7 or if there was a technical issue preventing you from responding, please let us know so that we can assist you further. As an additional solution, we can deliver the found mattress to you for a closer inspection, and if it is not yours, you will be able to proceed with the compensation process with the offered amount.
We understand that this situation has caused you significant frustration, and we sincerely apologize for any distress caused. American Knights Moving strives to provide a quality moving service, and we regret that your experience fell short of your expectations. We appreciate your patience throughout this process and hope that we can resolve the matter to your satisfaction.
Please let us know how you would like to proceed. If you have any further concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected].Review fromDeborah W

4 starsUpdate:
I left a negative review 6 weeks ago. Since that time, a representative of this company contacted me. He apologized and said that the company is making efforts to improve. He then told me that he was going to try to get some of my money refunded. I must say that I was surprised when I received a $500 check. I felt listened to and grateful that the company did this for me. I would give this company a second chance.
2/28/23: DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS! The day before my move, I got an email saying that I had to empty all of my drawers so I had to pack everything in boxes. When they picked up my belongings on Nov. 30, he said I had to pay $400 more because I had too many boxes. They did not deliver my items until Jan. 4! The boxes were damaged...big holes and smashed. It looked like they had thrown my stuff from truck to truck. My $1000 recliner was stuffed in the truck. It arrived with grease stains all over and it did not work! The driver refused to drive to my apartment door. He said I'd have to pay an extra $500 because they had to move my stuff to a smaller truck. They charged for using an elevator and stairs! They charged more because they had to walk more than 50 feet. The moving man was extremely rude! On pickup day he threatened to take all of my stuff off the truck and leave. On delivery day, the guy threatened to drive off with my stuff and take it back to Houston, where I would have to pay storage fees. Worst customer service ever! And ofcourse, they did not pay for the damage.

1 starAVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! THEY ARE SCAMMERS. AMERICAN KNIGHTS MOVING AND STORAGE DESTROYED OUR FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES, AND WRECKED OUR NEW HOME. WE ARE SENIOR CITIZENS AND THEY ******** THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FROM US. BEWARE!!!
In July 2022, my husband and I moved from Texas to Maine and we used American Knights Moving and Storage, Inc. The problems began ahead of our move.
After providing our final box count, we were told we would have to pay an extra $1,353.00 (on top of our initial $15K quote) in order to reserve the largest truck American Knights Moving had available, which we did. Then, on moving day (7/16/22), American Knights Moving arrived with a little truck that too small. Despite not brining the right size truck (that we paid for), the driver demanded we pay him $2,500 MORE for the truck that we should have gotten originally. To make matters worse, he literally said he couldn’t guarantee a larger truck would come unless we "tipped him good”.
I felt so helpless, but we agreed to pay him the extra money to keep our move on schedule. We are retired and we depend on social security, which I tried to explain. The driver couldn’t care less. He knew he was taking advantage of seniors.
Delivery was 8/19/22 (43 days after we left Texas/13 days late). Most our items arrived totally destroyed and unrepairable, including: Our new refrigerator (arrived smashed, covered in mold), 4K TV, entertainment center, leather sofa, two upholstered stools, sofa table, two butler tables, a three piece buffet, and our coffee table—just to name a few. Plus, nearly ALL of our boxes were completely crushed. Inside, our items were smashed and shattered.
DON’T SUFFER LIKE US. AVOID AMERICAN KNIGHTS MOVING AT ALL COSTS. I WISH I HAD DONE MORE RESEARCH, BUT I’M NOT ALONE…American Knights Moving & Storage, Inc.

Hello Georgia and Jonathan,
We have carefully reviewed your feedback and would like to address the concerns you raised regarding your experience with American Knights Moving and Storage. Firstly, we apologize for any inconveniences you encountered during your move from Texas to Maine in July 2022.
According to our records, our crew picked up a total volume of 2370 cubic feet of your items from Anna, TX on 07/16/22 and delivered 2350 cubic feet to Ellsworth, ME on 08/19-20/22. The additional delivery of 20 cubic feet (2 bins and 2 boxes) occurred on 09/09/22. It is essential to note that you provided a ready date of 07/22/22, and our team fulfilled the delivery within the agreed-upon timeframe of up to 21 business days, as specified in the contract - flexible delivery time frame of up to 21 business days since the first ready date provided by the customer.
Regarding the issue with the truck size, we regret any confusion or frustration you experienced. The truck's size was determined based on the volume of your items, as indicated in the inventory list. If you had concerns about this matter, you could have directly contacted our dispatch department or customer service to address the issue during the pick-up day.
In regards to the additional payment of $1,353.00, we found that it was a part of your payment to the broker. Your full payment to the broker included two payments: $3,070.00 and $1,353.00, totaling $4,423.00. This amount was agreed upon by you before American Knights Moving received the job. The total balance of $15,590.01, after providing a discount of $200, reflects the agreed-upon pricing based on the services provided. For the future, we suggest contacting American Knights (the carrier) directly to avoid any potential brokerage fees.
We understand the frustration caused by the damages during your move. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. As per our records, you notified us about the damages on 08/22/22, and on the same day and again on 10/11/22, we promptly shared the claim process information with you. However, it appears that the official claim was only registered with CSI on 05/03/2023, and pictures were added on 06/19/2023. We have been in contact with the claims team at CSI, and they are currently reviewing your case. Rest assured, we will do our best to work towards a resolution once the review process is completed.
While we understand your concern about our "F" rating on BBB, we encourage you to explore other reviews on various platforms and see that we are actually providing a valued moving service. BBB ratings are based ONLY on their opinion of how a business is likely to interact with its customers. Here at American Knights, we strive to provide excellent service and solutions that go above and beyond the claim resolution based on the selected valuation protection.
We sincerely apologize for any misunderstandings or inconveniences you experienced during your move. Our team is committed to addressing any outstanding issues and resolving them to the best of our ability. We value your feedback and will use it to improve our services moving forward.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us. We appreciate your understanding and hope to work towards a satisfactory resolution for you.
Sincerely,

1 starI hate even giving this sham of a company a single star, they don’t deserve it. Tons of issues from packers showing up 4 days past the schedule date, holding our goods the full 21 days (which we were told never happens by the broker), and not responding or paying for the damage claim we filed. This company is incredibly unprofessional. They only seem to care about getting paid, not a good customer experience. Please, if you have a choice, go with another company. Read through these reviews, lots of unhappy, unsatisfied customers.American Knights Moving & Storage, Inc.

Hello Erin,
We are writing in response to your BBB complaint regarding your experience with our company, American Knights Moving. We appreciate your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and dissatisfaction you may have encountered during your move.
We understand your frustration with the delayed delivery and the handling of your goods during the process. Please allow us to provide some context and explanation for the issues you faced. As mentioned in our email correspondence with you on 10/04/22, we acknowledge the inconvenience caused by the extended delivery time. However, we would like to clarify that the 16 business days for delivery, was within the terms of the contract you signed. The agreement you entered into allowed for a flexible delivery period of up to 21 business days. While we aim to complete all moves within the shortest time frame possible, certain factors, including distance, weather, traffic conditions and scheduling constraints, can sometimes lead to extended delivery times. We sincerely regret any misunderstanding or miscommunication that may have occurred in this regard.
Regarding the damages to your belongings, we are deeply sorry for any harm caused. We understand the importance of your possessions, and we strive to handle each item with the utmost care. However, it is essential to mention that the protection coverage you selected did not provide full coverage for potential damages. CSI provided you a claim resolution on the amount of $9.00, based on the terms of the selected protection. Despite this, our team at American Knights Moving believes in doing the right thing and taking responsibility for our actions. As a goodwill gesture, we offered you a compensation of $400.00 for the damages. We understand that you declined this offer, and we respect your decision.
Customer satisfaction is our top priority, and we are committed to improving our services based on feedback from valued customers like you. We have taken note of your concerns and will work diligently to enhance our processes to ensure smoother and more efficient moves in the future.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment you have experienced. We genuinely appreciate your business and hope that you will consider giving us another opportunity to serve you better in the future. If you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service department.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention, and we hope to resolve this matter to your satisfaction.
Sincerely,
