The only reason this company has positive reviews is because they don’t accept any patient with what THEIR NURSE has determined as risky. If you have anything in your medical record using the word. ‘Cardiac’ don’t bother applying. I have a very common heartbeat called a cardiac bridge. I was denied insurance because their cardiology NURSE says I am high risk, despite my cardiologist stating I have No condition and I am at no more risk than someone with high blood pressure. It’s a scam for yhe company to make money by accepting their version of healthy people and not ‘risky’ individuals. My daughter has a plan and has DOUBLE paid for lab work. They don’t support their subscribers! Stay away!

Only good for Dr. Appts. You will get a small check for the difference of the appt. However, if your Dr orders any blood work or testing, YOU ARE SCREWED. this insurance pays for one test a day. So if he orders the basic panel of a cbc, comp, lipids, etc. it will pay for ONE of them. The rest you have to pay for and that will cost you hundreds!! Same goes for radiology. One view per day! So if both knees are X-rays you will have to pay for one of them. Wellness visits-they will pay for one a year. So if you are a woman they will pay for your pap but they won’t pay for your mammogram or any other wellness type visit like flu shots etc. They won’t be paid for. And omg surgeries, you best not have any. I had a hysterectomy for a tumor. $27000+ surgery. They paid $3k. Even with the discount that the hospital has to give, I owed $22k. RUN don’t walk away from this company.

Attention Houston BBB! When customers state that this is a SCAM l isten! We have paid $1000. a year for this policy since the child was born. They have paid $125. for annual preventive care for a lifetime total of $1375. This year the well child visit included necessary immunizations which Philadelphia classifies as Preventative and says they pay a max Preventative of $125. annually. Thank God this child is healthy. BBB take note you have a crook on your books. Out of pocket expense $496.25.

BUYER BEWARE... This insurance is a complete scam!!!!! As soon as you need to actually use it they wont pay out on the claim.. worst insurance ever!! i cut the tendons in my finger. i had no use of it at all.so i needed surgery to reattach my tendons or i would have no use of that finger ever.. im a diesel mechanic and work with my hands.. they paid 10 grand of the bill and stuck me to pay the other 30 grand out of pocket. sad.. but true.. money i dont have. now my credit will be ruined. They should be shut down for the scam they are running!!!!!! Its not insurance!!! its a money scam.. they take your monthly payments.. then when you have to actually use the insurance. they wont pay out on claims! they have 100s of law suits against them for not paying out on claims.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE.. I LEARNED THE HARD WAY

Absolute worse thing I ever let my firm's health care agent talk me into. Wound up needing some tests done which proved benign and useless and $18,000 plus later I will never be able to pay back. They paid hardly a dime so I guess my credit will be in the dirt till the day I die. Oh yeah, and it was explained several times to me...not health insurance, but an indemnity. Whatever.

Philadelphia life / new era insurance is a joke. Several times I have called in to discuss a claim and after explaining myself very clearly they have hung up on me. Just hung up the phone after I waited on hold for 32 minutes this last time. I have had provider’s send claims and they never received them. They have to resubmit and it just prolongs the process. I’m receiving bills and when I call and ask the providers if they sent these to Philadelphia American/ new era they can give me a date of when it was summited but Philadelphia never received it. I’m talking about a surgery I had in November and the bills were summited December 28th and today is February 15th and Philadelphia American says they haven’t received them. I made sure my policy number was correct and that they had the correct mailing and electronic address. It’s very stressful and I can’t tell you the time I have spent on the phone dealing with this and today they hung up in my face. If we got disconnected then ok. Call me back!! They have phone number. I think they are sorry as hell and I’m having a attorney look into another claim where I had a blood transfusion and they would not pay because they “don’t cover blood transfusions”..it says in my policy you do. I would NOT recommend this insurance company to anyone unless your looking for a headache and lots of time on the phone with nothing resolved. They are pitiful!!

Can't get good coverage when I actually need treatment and can't cancel as no one answers the phone!
