Ongoing Nightmare – Still Waiting on Full Roof Payment
Our experience with American Risk Insurance has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. What should have been a straightforward claim for roof damage has turned into a drawn-out battle filled with poor communication, broken promises, and unnecessary stress.
From the start, we’ve struggled to get timely or honest updates. Our claims adjuster, Josh Mathers, has been nearly impossible to reach and consistently unresponsive. We’ve had to follow up repeatedly just to get basic information, and when we did hear back, the answers were vague or misleading.
Despite meeting all their requests and providing all necessary documentation, our claim still hasn’t been paid in full, and there is a remaining balance owed to our roofing company. This delay has put a financial burden on us and has made an already stressful situation much worse.
It’s incredibly frustrating to pay into a policy, only to be left feeling ignored and misled when you need help the most. American Risk Insurance has shown a clear lack of professionalism, urgency, and accountability.

BEWARE!!! Believe the WARNINGS from former customers. Do not conduct business with this company. They are not trustworthy nor ethical. Case in point: After purchasing a homeowners insurance policy from *** (American Risk Insurance ********) on March 21, 2024; for a policy period of one year (March 21, 2024 thru March 21, 2025); *** later terminated said policy on May 17, 2024. The reason given for the termination: a damaged shingle. When I contested the inspection report and said impossible; the home is only (5) years old and asked them to specifically indicate which shingle was damaged; they outright refused. They later submitted photos of a roof and stated to view pages 10 & 11 of the inspection report. After thoroughly viewing said pages I was unable to discern specifically which particular shingle they had issues with. I was told that in order to have my policy reinstated; I needed to get the roofing issue rectified and submit photos & the receipt upon its *************, in order to get the policy reinstated; I hired a very reputable roofing company to come out; inspect the roof and make any and all needed repairs based on their findings. It cost me $1,001.42. I then had the roofing company take photos of the roof and provide a receipt for their inspection and work completion. They replaced the shingle and nailed down several others that they said edges were lifted. I then submitted a copy of the photos & paid receipt to the insurance company. Mind you; I kept in constant contact with *** throughout the entire process. After *** received the requested/required documentation; they DECLINED to reinstate the policy and provided NO explanation. This appears to be ***s modus operandi. Caveat:In addition, I had to pay my mortgage company an additional $493 for a Lender Placed Hazard Policy due to the dishonesty of *** business practices. All in all; I was out a total of $1,494.42.

Everyone needs to file complaints on American Risk Insurance with the Texas Department of Insurance and the Attorney General. They cannot act unless they have the complaints

I am deeply disappointed with *** Insurance Company. The coverage they claim to provide is deceptive and unreliable. When I needed the assistance they advertised, I was completely abandoned. It's upsetting that I had to personally experience this to uncover the numerous negative reviews left by other customers. Their poor rating on the ********************************************* speaks volumes about the lack of integrity and support this company offers. I would strongly advise others to thoroughly research and consider other options before trusting *** Insurance with your needs.

I experienced significant damage to my home during Hurricane Beryl (July 2024). After the power was restored, I filed a claim days later. The following week, the (contracted) adjuster came out to survey the home and record the damage by taking pictures inside/outside of my home as well as of the roof. It was a pleasant experience and was told I would be contacted 7-10 business days later.
Sadly, this did not happen. On August 15, 2024, I received a voicemail (never rung) that was not audible from American Risk Insurance, the rep sounded drunk. I immediately called back, but no answer. So, I waited a week, giving them a chance to call back after hearing my voicemail... as I'm sure they had lots of claims rolling in, but again no luck. I finally called in again and left yet another message with the call center and was told they would reach out. Another two weeks passed and still no contact had been made. Thereafter, I called several times over the course of two months, and still hadn't been contacted. I was provided the point-of-contact rep for my claim, Medhi Parvin who hadn't yet reached out. Then I was contacted early September by ******, another outside contractor (Ricky, a structural engineer) to survey the second floor of the home on September 12, 2024, since the floors were moving and warping from the hurricane (now even worse after 3 months). Again, the outside contractor was extremely professional and followed through with everything he said. He advised he would submit his findings about two weeks after the structural inspection and I should hear something 7-10 business days later.
Unsurprisingly, American Risk Insurance failed to reach out. I called back to back to back until I finally reached my claim rep, Medhi and I explained respectfully, we are 3 months after the hurricane and I haven't talked to anyone from this company to-date, including her, my rep. After asking for a manager, since she couldn't tell me anything, she hung up on me.

As a contractor within the Houston area, this company is extremely difficult to get in touch with. We work with homeowners throughout their claim process for home restorations and roof replacements. This is a high-level issue for a homeowner. Insurance companies should not be absent when trying to put the pieces together for a customer. For people looking for insurance coverage, this is definitely something to take into consideration when choosing your insurance carrier.

The most horrible place I’ve ever encountered. Will weasel out of paying a claim but will collect your money. Switching as soon as feasible

    Completely nonresponsive and unreliable,
Together with my mother, and I we own the property that we have been trying for two months to get the contractors paid for the service they already provided, We reached out regarding our recent claim filed due to damage caused by a leak in our air unit on June 23, 2024.
As first-time claimants, we have found the process to be unclear and communication regarding the necessary steps has been sparse, provided only upon our inquiries. A more structured, step-by-step explanation would have greatly aided us in navigating this process with confidence.
To add to our concerns, we received a check from American Risk Insurance with limited accompanying instructions. It was not until July 29, 2024, that we were informed of the need to contact the insurance company upon receipt of the check for further endorsement instructions. This crucial detail was buried within the documents sent by the company, and unfortunately, no one guided us through the claims process alongside these documents. Upon contacting the bank, we were advised to seek a resolution with American Risk Insurance.
Our attempts to reach a representative for assistance have been met with prolonged holds and voicemails. Direct communication with a member of your team would have been greatly appreciated to address and rectify this situation effectively.
Currently, the damaged areas of our home remain unrestored, with exposed flooring and walls. We earnestly wish to proceed with the necessary repairs and return to a semblance of normalcy.
We have requested immediate attention to this matter and looked forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution and have received no assistance. Now the contractors are calling me requesting that I may the payments that this insurance company should have taken care of.

A 1 rating is a stretch. My roof replacement has been completed for almost 6 months and we still have not received final payments for depreciation. We have called and emailed with no response. We also have a supplement claim where repairs were approved but the initial payment has not been received.
I will also file a DOI complaint.

Shady company that will take advantage of their costumers, they will look into every pice of law to skip paying for the "service they promise to provide."

If you are looking for an insurance company think twice before sing it up with them.
