I am writing to formally issue a complaint regarding the installation and condition of my AC unit, which was serviced by your company on 8/3/2023. I recently had a licensed maintenance technician inspect the system on 7/9/2025, and several serious concerns were brought to my attention:1.Improper Installation of the Air Handler: The air handler in the attic is not fully seated inside the emergency drain pan and lacks the required 2-inch clearance.2.Missing Float Switches: I was charged for float switches, but none are present on the primary or emergency drain lines.3.Unsafe Foam Block Placement: A foam block is improperly placed inside the air ************* Motor Safety Hazard: The fan motor is in direct contact with the casing, posing a safety risk.Given the nature of these issues, I am extremely concerned that your company may have provided inaccurate or misleading information during the original installation or service, which waives the installation fee. These problems are not only violations of standard installation practices but could also create potential safety hazards in my home.I will not pay the $195 technician visit fee, as these problems appear to stem from improper work done by your team. It is the company's responsibility to address these issues without additional cost to the customer. Please schedule a technician to inspect and resolve the matter immediately, free of charge. I have filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and other appropriate regulatory bodies.I expect your prompt attention to this matter.Business Response

Efficient Air installed a total HVAC replacement on June 7 2024. The system began leaking right away, it was not installed to code, and the gas line was improperly installed creating a deadly hazard to me and my family. They sent techs out several times and said everything was ok. The dripping water was damaging my home. The contract also said they would be replacing my ductwork which I paid for, but was never replaced, this to me is fraud. I had to replace the whole system with another company before we had more serious problems, and had to repair damage. I have been calling and emailing this company for almost 6 months now with no resolution to a settlement. I am thinking of reporting them to the ***** ********** ** ********* *** ********** if I dont recieve a settlement soon. This company is scamming people rigt and left read the other reviews. On top of it all , my wife has cancer, we are both elderly, and I am a Veteran. It is a shame that they wont make this right, I am also considering * *******.Business Response
Date: 01/22/2025
On 10/8/2024, the customer had agreed to a refund/reimbursement for the amount of $1500 for the duct work not completed. When the sales representative arrived to customers home on schedule date 10/15/2024 with the check for the amount of $1500 previously agreed upon by customer the customer refused the check reimbursement and informed sales representative that he had another AC company take our AC system out and had it replaced with their AC system in which our AC system was not at the home for us to schedule a pick up. Efficient Air was not returned the AC system and we our out of pocket a brand new system. Efficient Air was in communication with the customer and had made an agreement/arrangement and it was not followed thru with the customer.Efficient Air did try to get this resolved with the customer best way possible. Please advise any updates to this complaint.Best regards,Norma *****Customer Answer

I had Efficiency air install a central heating and air conditioning system in November of last year. I had not needed to run the air conditioner until late March of this year and when I did it didnt cool so I called them to let them know this and it took them **** times sending someone out to fix it and then when I tried to tell them that they had installed the system using the existing line that had been under my house opened to the environment for over ************************************************************************************************************** until a few weeks ago and the air conditioning system started shutting down for a couple of hours every day. So I called them back and asked them to come out and see what they could do to fix it and they said they would. I wait all day for them to come and no one came. I called them back to see what the issue was and they said that I would have to pay them ****** dollars for a service fee in order to get it fixed and I asked them that I thought it had a one year warranty on the repair and they said no it was only for six months. I never received a warranty or a contract for the installation and the repairs, and the only paperwork given to me were the installation manual and some blank paperwork The people who came out to install the system were all non English speaking and I had a very difficult time trying to talk with them. I have been trying to contact them but they have just been giving me the runaround. I intend on calling the finance company that is financing it and see if they can help me with this problem. If you can do anything for me please let me know and I will be grateful for itCustomer Answer

I purchased a full system from them in 2020 and it was sold based on the fact that they offer a 10-year parts and labor warranty, based on having the twice-annual maintenance performed, which was also indicated to be included as part of the purchase. However, a year later, when scheduling my maintenance, I was told that only the first year is included and that I must now pay $295 twice a year to "maintain the warranty." I felt trapped, but I wanted the warranty, so I submitted the payments.Fast-forward to Summer 2024. I now have an issue with the unit that requires service. I placed a call to schedule service, and I was informed that there is a $195 service fee! The "warranty" comes at a hidden cost of $600 a year, plus they will still charge you $200 for any visit that they have to make. This company is full-on scammy and unethical. The costs I was told up-front DID NOT REPRESENT the actual ongoing costs, and the salesperson 100% lied to me to close the sale.Customer Answer

Attached is the contract. The warranty provides for 10 years full parts and 10 years full warranty. It also provides for 5 years maintenance, but they charge $295/visit for that, too.Customer Answer

Good afternoon,
I would like to confirm that you do have 10 years parts and labor. The warranty on your equipment covers if it malfunctions due to normal wear and tear and not to not keeping the unit maintenance as needed. By the system not being maintenance properly it can cause the equipment or parts to fail due to negligence. Therefore it is very important that maintenance is done regularly. As to the 10 years parts and labor is for the equipment itself, it does not cover the cost of service calls/diagnostic call. I hope this helps in understanding our procedures.

I am very frustrated and outraged with the service and communication regarding the warranty of my air conditioner. I bought a new air conditioner from Efficient Air Conditioning and Cooling on May 3, 2021, which has a 10-year warranty for the unit, which covers parts and labor, compressor, evaporator coil as well as 3-year maintenance. This new system cost me $8100. The compressor broke down on September 4, 2023, and the unit did not cool my house anymore.I called ********* customer service on September 6, 2023 and was told that I would have to pay $195 service fee. I protested and reminded them that I have a 10 year warranty with 3-year free maintenance but was told that all units that are 6 months and older have to pay $195 for the service. I was outraged. On September 9, 2023 a Royal Air technician (*****) diagnosed the problem and said that the compressor valves were bad and the it was not allowing the freon to circulate properly. He made the report and said someone would contact me within a day. But I did not hear from them at all. I called and emailed many times, but no one answered or replied. After two weeks of calling and emailing and asking for management, I was transferred to ***** (a dispatcher) which told me, "even though you have kept up with your maintenance, you still have to pay $2995 for handling and freon". This is an outrage. I told him that the ***** does not cost $2995. This is the cost for a compressor replacement. I called Efficient air and was told the same thing. It has been a HOT summer and temperatures in my house have reached 94 degrees. This is not acceptable and unprofessional. They are in BREACH OF CONTRACT. They have the Responsibility to HONOR the WARRANTY and provide good service to your customers. Their lack of action has caused me a lot of trouble and discomfort. I have seen so many complaints on Royal Air and Efficient Air Conditoning and Cooling. Their licenses should be suspended or revoked and are not fit to be in business.Business Response

Subject: RE: Complaint ID ******** Response to Business Reply
Dear Better Business Bureau,
I have reviewed the response made by Efficient Air Inc. regarding complaint ID ******** and have determined that their proposed action does not resolve my complaint.
The core issue remains that Efficient Air failed to honor the warranty on my air conditioning unit, forcing me to pay out of pocket for repairs that should have been covered.
I purchased a new air conditioning system from Efficient Air on May 3, 2021, for $8,100, which included a 10-year warranty covering parts, labor, the compressor, the evaporator coil, and 3 years of maintenance. However, when my compressor failed on September 4, 2023, Efficient Air and ********* refused to honor their warranty, demanding excessive and unjustified fees.
Despite my warranty clearly stating coverage, I was told:
I had to pay $195 for a service fee, even though my contract included free service for 3 years.
The technician (*****) confirmed that the compressor valves were bad but after his report, I received no follow-up or response for over two weeks despite repeated calls and emails.
When I finally spoke with a representative (*****), I was told I had to pay $2,995 for handling and freon, which is outrageous and unjustified, as freon does not cost that amount.
Efficient Air failed to provide any real assistance despite my repeated efforts to get them to honor the contract.
As a result of their breach of contract, I was left without air conditioning in extreme heat, with indoor temperatures reaching 94 degrees. After weeks of waiting with no resolution, I had no choice but to hire an independent A/C technician at my own expense to restore my cooling system.
The technician discovered that Efficient Airs installation was not done correctlythe system was not flushed properly, which led to damage to both the compressor and condenser coils, requiring full replacement. I was forced to pay out of pocket for these repairs, which should have been covered under my warranty.
Requested Resolution:
I am demanding full reimbursement for the cost of repairing my A/C unit, including the replacement of the compressor and condenser coils, which were damaged due to Efficient Airs improper installation and failure to honor the warranty.
Efficient Airs handling of this situation has been unacceptable, and I request that the BBB assist in holding them accountable for their actions. Thank you for your time and assistance.Regards,
******* *****

On 5/17/2023 a salesperson named ***** ****** arrived at my home for a consultation and agreed to install two 2-stage ac units and an install a new attic ladder due to a stair being broken during the consultation I asked why I should go with efficient air he started that it was because efficient air makes sure that there are no leaks and that they will do a very thorough job. The amount charged was $22999 work was scheduled for 5/18/2023 came out and installed the two units and replaced the broken attic ladder stair. I called and discussed with them that I paid for and it was agreed that the attic ladder with be replaced and not just a stair replaced. Said they will come out a replace ladder two days after that I discover that while replacing ac unit someone stepped on the ceiling and damaged it also it began to leak. I called they stated they will come out and fix the ceiling, leak, and ladder and gave me a date. I receive a text on that date that they were on their way but no one came out to fix anything. Over the past two months I have called over 2 dozen times, emailed, and texted no one has come. I have asked for the manager or owner they stated no one is available and then they direct me to send an email. But no response. There has been no resolution to this issue my ceiling that was leaking for over a month before I called another ac company to fix the leak and was charged $400 the issue being the efficient air did not re-connect the drain pip nor did they flush the line as promised in the contract. Now I still have thousands of dollars in damage to my ceiling and walls. Please help me I am a disabled vet all the stress of this is affecting my health and mental wellbeing.Business Response

On June 29, 2023, Efficient Air's contractors came to my home to install a new A/C unit including the compressor, coils, switches, drains, thermostat, and they were to remove all existing equipment. Chad, the salesperson appeared knowledgeable and trustworthy. He had great reviews and so we felt comfortable with the pricing and services. Naturally, they had independent contractors come out and perform the actual work. It was a difficult job that could have caused damage to the contractors given the extreme heat, size of the attic, and nature of work. It took around 10 hours to complete. After the work was completed, the next day, we noticed our garage door was broken and the track was bent. This could only have been caused by the contractors. I messaged and called Chad and the office. Nobody got back to me although Chad said he would try. I continued to call. I've emailed, used social media, and other methods of contact. I did get in touch with someone in the office and I emailed photos of the damage. The 4th of July holiday was at that time. Nobody called afterwards. I've continued to call, email, or Facebook message almost daily to get this resolved. The new install has not fixed our a/c issue. We had another company to the home yesterday, July 19th, and they said we either do not have an air filter or the contractors sealed it shut to where it cannot be accessed. This could be a major hazzarrd and cause damage and harm. We called multiple times, yet again, to get more information about the air filter. Nobody returned our call even though we were assured they would. We've called again today and nothing. My next step is to look into filing complaints with the state and/or potential legal action. I have several photos of before and after the garage. As well as the assessment from the second HVAC contractor.Customer Answer

we purchased a new ac system and had it installed by the company in September 28, 2022.
In October we started having an issue with the ac. it would stop working and blow hot air.
We called a technician and he didnt find anything wrong. we didnt pay a fee because it was still under warranty.
Then a couple months later again the same problem persisted. We had to pay 150 for the technician to come out. Again he did not find the problem ( the same tech guy that came out first). The AC still did not work correctly. we had to call two more times. Still this guy could not find the problem.
Finally the last time he came he thought he found the problem so they send another technician to replace a part.
So that other technician who was suppose to replace the part actually found that the access panel to the blower was sucked in. From the beginning it was not installed correctly.
SO the technician that came out 3 times could not walk around the unit to find the problem.
Now the ac is still not working properly. they refuse to help us solve the problem. They want to keep charging us the fee for service when they did not install it correctly from the beginning.
They do not want to hear us out.
they have horrible customer service they take more then 30 minutes to answer our calls. They can never find our account. And the technician takes 3 days to make it out to check the problem.
WE would like to have our whole ac unit refunded and we would go with a different company who actually offer a good service to a paying customer.
We would never purchase such an expensive home repair that is so unreliable.Business Response
