    Pattern of Complaint:

Since July 2017, the BBB Houston began receiving several complaints and customer reviews for Entrust Energy that are exhibiting the following pattern.

According to numerous consumer’s complaints, the company’s door-to-door salesmen are not operating in good faith as they are withholding pertinent information during their solicitation and are enrolling them into contracts they did not sign nor agree to. The representatives allegedly promise the consumers a significant decrease in their current electricity bills but once they are enrolled, the consumers’ bills have doubled or even tripled in cost. Other consumers allege they were told by salesmen that they would not be liable to pay a fee to disconnect, transfer, nor terminate the services of their previous providers; however, they were charged. When Entrust Energy is contacted regarding the matter, they explain that sales representatives told them this was the consumer’s responsibility to appropriately terminate services with the previous provider. Many consumers stated that they have paid off their balances in full and cancelled their accounts with Entrust, but are wrongly sent to collections for unpaid amounts despite being told the cancellation was completed and no additional funds were owed.

    Company responded stating that:

"Entrust Energy prides itself in a commitment to customer service and we encourage customers to voice any concerns or questions by contacting us at 800-871-8100."

Entrust continued billing me after they declared bankruptcy (& my bank paying - my fault for not catching it, but nonetheless, should receive a refund since no service was provided since March, 2021). Though there is a customer service number for concerns such as these, there has been no response. Is this something you can help me with? $676.13 is the refund amount due.

Entrust Energy has fraudulently reported past due collections accounts to the credit bureaus. They have been notified and received a police report but refuse to address this in an expeditious manner.

I received an electric bill from Entrust for my electric bill last month that was for $17,903.40 (that is not a typo). My bill for the month before was for $340.21, typical for usage this time of year. I called Entrust (who has filed for Bankruptcy, and they would not adjust my bill. I told them I was going to register complaints and they did not seem to care. They said they would turn it over to a collection agency in 90 days. I contacted my state legislatures, and local TV stations. Two sent reporters and my story appeared on the news here in Houston. https://abc13.com/business/woodlands-business-hit-with-$18k-electric-bill-after-winter-storm/10563355/ I really need your help to get this bill resolved. We have been in business for 30 years and NEVER had anything like this happen. Thanks - Vic

re: ***** *********** *** ************ ******* **** *** * *** ******* ****** *** ******* ** ********** Entrust Energy Account #********-*** Our past invoices reflect charges between $700.00 to $800.00. We recently received an invoice in the amount of $14,780.00 for what appears to be the service period from 01/22/2021 -03/05/2021. It also appears that we were charged double. The meter number appears 2 times with 2 exact service periods, 2 exact previous reads, 2 exact current reads, 2 exact Mult Days and 2 exact Usages. In additions 2 other exact occurrences appear with the Service Period reflecting 02/22/21-03/05/2021. We are seeking explanation of the disparity of past invoices and the invoice dated April 20, 2021. . We are seeking some sort of resolution. We are willing to submit payment for what is our usual and customary invoice. We appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.

I was charged with an electricity bill of $7930.80 for my restaurant during the month of Feb 2 - March 5, 2021. That time period included the Texas Winter Storm which devastated small businesses like mine. Entrust went out of business on March 5, but I am still required to pay an exorbitant bill that is neither my fault (I did not use that amount of energy) and one that also occurred during a natural disaster. How is this ok? What do small business owners like me do in this situation? I only want to pay what is truly fair - and this pricing is not fair.
