      Complaint Type:

      Status:
      Answered
On 9/27/2023 my business relationship began with The Transmission Shop ********** to have my 2014 ****** Sentra's CVT transmission rebuilt. Prior to bringing my vehicle in for service I inquired about getting a remanufactured CVT, my understanding is this type of transmission is difficult, he confirmed they can do it. At this point the communication was great, I knew I'd be without the vehicle for at least a month no problem. On 11/1/2023 I get the call the vehicle is ready. ******* gives me a run down some parts were double the cost and the ******** the cost. I thought that was cool, I'm on disability/fixed income, I didn't ask for the $100 off for major repairs. I ask should I bring it back after a certain number of miles for a checkup, he said no just look out for leaks. Within a week grease and fluid was on my driveway. Took it back, leaking from axle. I parked the vehicle the very next day until I could get money for the axle, because there was a popping noise. Nov 15, 2023, they replaced the axle, still making popping noise. Nov 17, 2023, the transmission completely fails. I'm stranded on 35E. Vehicle is towed back to the shop. Nov 20, I talked with ****, he tells me the chain broke in the transmission. After talking with ****, it was determined that the transmission was causing the noise and beginning to fail. Since that time, they have been trying to figure it out. I requested that they get me a rental, because it was costing me money to get my kid to school. in that regard it has been very disappointing. Finally on Dec 11, 2023, I was told they have to order a new transmission. That also the time when I was told I could drive the car around town since I have things to do. That was a mistake to do it was a hazard. On 12/14 they sent a tow for the car, because they had a transmission coming on 12/15. As of this day 12/19 I have not heard anything. Doesn't seem like a paying customer is a priorty to get the problem resolved timely. Could use the 100 on rental.

Just a word of caution. If you need transmission work done, dont go to The Transmission Shop in **********. They are completely incompetent, they are dishonest, and they will take your money and not fix your transmission. In our case, they actually created more problems and it was more expensive to fix.Our son had a 2019 **** Fusion that was barely out of warranty when the transmission failed. We took it to ******* at the transmission shop who assured ** the car would be ready in a few days. Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. Finally, after two failed repair attempts, we had it towed to **** for the repairs. **** did repair it properly and we had it back in a few days.**** SAID THAT A TRANSMISSION REBUILD HAD IN FACT NOT BEEN DONE. Yet, ******* said it had and charged ** for it!!!This is theft.******* has refused to refund the money we paid so we will be forced to take legal action.Stay away from this business. Its actually shocking that they are still in business at all.

      The Transmission Shop Response

      06/26/2023

Hello ******!Here is what actually happened. We rebuilt your transmission. Then we had a communication problem with your Engine Control Module with Fault codes P061A-Internal Control Module, Upon inspection we notice melted wires at the **** There was a recall on the *** at the dealer which you where referred to.You returned from dealer with a worse electrical problem. Fault codes:P0715 input turbine shaft sensor A (permanent), P1299 cylinder head over temperature (permanent), P0118 engine coolant temp sensor (permanent).Permanent means you have a "Hard Electrical Codes" after the dealer did "repairs" on your car!Your car is NOT running hot nor does the car have a transmission problem. It means you have a worse Electronic circuit problem after the dealer worked on your car! We showed you this and referred you back to dealer.Next You Say you paid them for a transmission and TRADED it in after they made your RECALLED computer repairs worse!!!!! And you didn't even call us?It don't make sense!*******************

      Customer Response

False. Your shop DID NOT rebuild the transmission. When the car went to **** because YOUR mechanic could not (or would not) fix it, **** found an additional problem that they suspected happened while the car sat at your shop for months and months. They believed RATS had gotten in and chewed wires because there was no other logical explanation. Rather than play this game you like to call our work was under warranty according to the invoice you signed so you should have brought it back to us to to sit at our shop for another 5 months, YOU SHOULD HAVE REFUNDED THE MONEY WE PAID FOR THE REPAIR YOU DID NOT COMPLETE and let this matter go. BUT because you insisted upon conducting business in such an egregious and dishonest manner, we were left with no choice but to warn others. If you had taken care of it and treated us fairly we would not have felt the need to report you to BBB. I truly hope you will take this feedback as constructive criticism and do better in the future.
