Sold my vehicle to them, issues with pick up and delayed payment, they asked me to send them ******* back because they overpaid me. I did like an idiot, and they still have paid the balance due on my account

    Business Response

GMTV accidentally overpaid the customer $1,000. We asked the customer to return the money to us, but instead the customer wanted to send the money to her lienholder *********** Auto Finance. Not sure why. Because she did this it changed the amount we agreed to pay *********** from $28,676.49 to $27,676.49. We paid that amount and have attached a copy along with ***** tracking showing the bank received our payment on July 8th . As of today our check has not cleared. It does appear that the customer paid the $1,000 to *********** because today's payoff amount according to *********** is $27,676.49 (the amount of our check). Attached is today's current payoff per *********** to confirm.

This is all probably a timing difference and the customer should see her account updated in the next couple of days after *********** posts the payoff check.

Thank you for letting us explain.

My car was damaged after I bought it. This is a collector's vehicle. There's over $6000 in damages, and they won't take responsibility for it.

Would be happy to address your concerns but need more information. What are the specifics on the vehicle - year, make, model, vin. Since we do not sell cars directly to the public, where did you buy it?

    Thank you.

I have been getting spam text messages from this company for 2 years without any way to remove my number from the list. I've tried responding to the message to remove but it has not worked.

The examples are via text messages, how can I provide examples of them?  Each time I receive one of these messages, I respond with STOP, and report it as junk.  Reporting it as junk, deletes the message automatically.

I received a ****** offer then asked for an offer from give ne the vin. ****** offer ****** , give me the vin offered ******. I decline give me the vin's offer and per advertisement if give me the vin can't beat a carmax deal they will pay $100. Provided emails of initial offer then in store offer, of which the offer stayed the same, and was told they would send me a check the following day. That was over 6 weeks ago so I guess the mail.must be real slow.

Purchased a MB Sprinter from GMTV on 11/19 ****************************************************************. Payment for $58000. **** was notified of the issues upon delivery. The van was NOT the same as the 80+ images/videos that were posted for their auction. **** used a substitute vehicle for the listing. Except for a single image of the **** the other images/videos were fake. This is fraud in order to maximize the value and speed of the sale. Issues include paint/rust damage both externally and internally, driver seat not bolted to the base, battery terminals under the floor left fully exposed, cut wire connectors, check engine lights, safety features disabled, e-parking brake not functioning, dead battery not holding charge, cabin disassembled and left in disarray despite at least 2 vehicle inspections by them after the auction, broken sliding door, torn door gasket left in the cargo area, various factory screws scattered around the van,...GMTV has admitted that they did not use pictures of the actual van. The owner **** **** ***** stated that it would be a 'hassle' to return our money as he bought over 200 of these vans but had flooded the market in his attempt to sell them quickly. He offered to replace the vehicle with one in 'much better condition', however the 16 replacement options he had were in worse condition based on the vehicle condition reports. He had no issue gloating that he sells 1400 vehicles a week, expects 2 billion dollars in revenue this year, and telling me to listen to his radio program, podcasts and ******* channel. I listened to him lament about the money he'll lose on this fleet, gloat of his revenue and internet status, and that he would not return our money because it was a hassle. Hard to fathom the depth of deception and his unwillingness to return our money on a vehicle that was advertised with 11miles and was stated as a 'great vehicle', 'good to go' and had been inspected by **** on several occasions prior to delivery.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/02/2025

As the customer states he purchased the vehicle through an auction called Bring A Trailer. It is a third party website that has its own rules for sellers and buyers of vehicles when issues occur. Any issues dealing with vehicles bought and sold should be handled through the auction Bring A Trailer. Their website is *************************. Thank you.

    Complaint: 22721893

I am rejecting this response because GMTV fraudulently listed the vehicle on BAT.  BAT requires that sellers 'meet all applicable local, state, provincial, national and other laws, rules and regulations, and that any goods (including vehicles) and services promoted, offered or otherwise described on the **************** are described in listings, and/or delivered as described, in an accurate satisfactory manner.'  In addition GMTV directly received the payment and not BAT.  GMTV intentionally misrepresented the vehicle both in the advertisement and their posted comments.  BAT has already suspended GMTV from future listings until this is resolved.

Agreed to sell my vehicle to the company. Sent them the title and they sent me a check. (Which I have yet to cash.) They told me a time when they would be coming to pick the vehicle up. I took off work and waited 8 hours. No call / no show and no answer when tried to call. They didnt respond to me for 3 days. I told them I lost an entire days pay and they have no respect for their customers time. I wanted to cancel the deal as I dont want to do business with this company and lose another days pay. They are now holding my title ****** for $250 cancellation fee for an issue that was on their end. No they wont answer any messages.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/07/2024

The title has been returned to the customer. There is no money to refund the customer. ********************** on occasion uses 3rd party transportation services. ********************** states the customer canceled the appointment for the vehicle to be picked up. There was a delay from the service telling us about the cancelation which did cause a delay in rescheduling. For that we certainly apologize. However, once we tried to reschedule the customer insisted that we guarantee the next transport driver speak English. Not sure, but this may have been the reason for the first cancellation. Since it is a 3rd party service we could not guarantee an English speaking driver. Because of this the customer canceled the deal.

I was provided an offer from the company before inspection. After the inspection, they stated that my car had engine issues and that they were lowering the offer. I refused the new offer and was told I could go pick up my car. When I arrived to get my car, the auction would not release it to me, as they were not provided a gate code for the vehicle to be released. I contacted multiple people, and no one responded. I have yet to be contacted and cannot get my car.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/09/2024

The inspection took place at an independent auto auction where there are no Give Me The Vin employees. A CR (Condition Report) is generated by the auction on the vehicle. The report came back lower than expected causing a price adjustment from the originally agreed upon terms. Give Me The Vin and the customer could not agree upon price causing the customer to pick up the vehicle from the auction. There was certainly a delay on our part letting the customer know that the vehicle was ready for pick up, and we apologize for that. The customer was issued a gate pass on April 4th and we were told by the auction that the vehicle was picked up by the customer within a day or two. Miscommunication happened between the independent auction and Give Me The Vin which did cause a delayed response to the customer. We understand why the customer became upset and sincerely apologize.

Thank you for the opportunity to explain what happened.

I was working with give me the event to sell my wife's car and received about $6000 in equity and return for it. I was working with a representative from the company for several weeks who reassured me that he would get the deal done prior to the end of the cars lease term. Approximately 1 week prior regards return date I was informed by the representative that they would not be able to purchase a car from us. The representative had not looked into when they were able to buy cars back from ******** within the least term ending and subsequently resulted in us not being able to sell the car to them. We were then forced to sell the car back to the ******** dealership at $4000 less then give me the van was going to buy the car form. I contacted the representative and he was not apologetic at all and stated that it was actually my fault that I had not contacted him earlier. If the representative had informed me in a timely fashion that I would not be able to sell the car to them I would have been able to take the car to an alternative dealership or Carmax and covered the difference. Please do not use this company as they do not have the customers Best wishes in mind and do not care about the customer.

We can understand your frustrations. Give Me The Vin has handled hundreds of ******** **** Leases in the past. Unfortunately in this situation the customer did not contact us in time, based upon ************* rules on leases, in order for us to be able to purchase the vehicle. The customer started communications with us on May 3rd. The end of the customer's lease was May 22nd. ******** **** does not provide quotes for buyouts on leases within 30 days of lease termination. Wish there was something we could have done to prevent this situation.

    Thank you.

June 1 I was emailed an offer on my vehicle I found acceptable. I agreed to the terms and I was FedExed a packet containing a bill of sale and statement to sign and return along with my title. In this packet also contained the check which was inactive and cant be cashed until the vehicle is picked up. By June 6 givemethevin received my returned documents including title. There was a sense of urgency for me to get this part done. I was told they would be contracting a third party to transport the vehicle. As of now I am still waiting on someone to pick up the vehicle. Ive given over my title with a bill of sale and have nothing to show for it except a check that cant be cashed or deposited. There is no sense of urgency anymore or no sense of follow up or follow through in coordinating pick up of the vehicle. I feel I was misguided in the process of givemethevin. As their car sits parked in my driveway I am told my insurance will cover any possible damage due to bad weather. Considering its not my car anymore I dont see how that is a fair statement. Im very disappointed in the way this process is playing out and I would like for this transaction to be completed so I can move on and get the funds for the car Ive already given up title of.

I submitted my vin to the givemethevin.com and they offered me $500 for my vehicle. I received an offer from Carmax of $1500 for the same vehicle. In the company's radio commercial, givemethevin.com say if they cannot beat a Carmax offer, givemethevin.com will send me $100. I emailed and texted the Carmax offer to "***********************" (givemethevin.com's representative) after he offered me $500 for my vehicle, but did not receive a response despite 2 follow-up emails and four follow-up text messages. After I submitted my Carmax offer to "***********************" all communications ceased. As givemethevin.com could not beat my Carmax offer, I am owed $100 by givemethevin.com. If they do not want to honor their advertised offers, they should not advertise offers on the radio.
