  BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.  These claims come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers clearer to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements. On October 13, 2023 BBB contacted Amethyst Beauty and Health Spa regarding advertised claims on their website https://amethystabcspa.com/.  Amethyst Beauty and Health Spa advertises claims "Amethyst ABC Spa is the most detailed, full service spa dedicated to unisex beauty, health, and energy-based aesthetic therapy." Additionally, Amethyst Beauty and Health Spa advertises claims that their treatments can help clients "Live a happier and longer life; Benefit with better sleep; Enjoy improved energy; Maintain enhanced self-esteem; Improve mental clarity; Better control weight and Body shaping; Help to detox and de-stress; Reduced headaches; Reduce or avoid chronic pain."  BBB Code of Advertising states, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.  BBB requested Amethyst Beauty and Health Spa provide any evidence including but not limited to studies from recent and competent testing or other objective data substantiating their services and claims of their specific products or discontinue any statements claiming results.  As of November 3, 2023, Amethyst Beauty and Health Spa failed to substantiate or discontinue the advertised claims.
