03/31/25 12:03pm Pacific: Over 3-4 months ago I got the first notice from pet data to renew the license for "*****". I called in and let ************************************************ know that my cat ***** died of cancer on 07/07/24. Due to their poor organization of keeping records up to date they sent me another email reminder today to renew & pay ******* Pet license.

Date: 12/16/2024. Receipt #: CCF-E9MLBEP.Pet Data provides licenses for pets. Have not received the license. Three phone calls made and each time I was told they will mail the tag again. To date, I have not received the tag. At each phone call I was told I must be having a mail delivery problem. Once is an acceptable probability. Three times not receiving the tag tells me they have the problem, or fraud is being commited. Requesting a refund. I do not trust this company to issue another tag. I will be contacting the animal licensing department in my location to advise them to not refer pet owners to Pet Data.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/04/2025

We appreciate the customer letting us know about the problem she encountered with receiving her license tag.  Since we are contracted with the County, all funds go directly to the County's account, and the refund policy is determined by the County. As a result, we are not able to refund the city license fee, but we are happy to work with the customer to resolve the delivery problem! Since the tag we mailed in January was not received, we are sending out a free replacement tag via priority mail today. The tracking number will be provided to the customer, and I have reached out to the customer directly with the resolution and my contact information.

November 22, 2024 $15.00 amount paid for a license.I foolishly paid for my dogs license online using ********************** without realizing I had to have his shot records already. The place that I take my dog to get his shots also gives you a license so I wanted a refund so that I'm not paying for two license fees. I called customer service twice and was told the first time that the payment I made hadn't shown up in the system yet and to call back on another day and they would REFUND it, I called today and was told that I could not have a refund until AFTER I've already paid for Odin's license through another party and provide proof. I am on a limited income and really need this money back so I CAN pay for his shots and license. Can you please help me? My name is Raven Shimin.

We appreciate the customer letting us know! The refund policy is determined by the City and not by our company. I have contacted the customer directly and reached out to the City regarding the special circumstances to find out if we are permitted to refund prior to the second payment being made.

Paid for a three year pet license fee for ************. Multiple email attempts to the customer service email go unanswered. Like similar BBB complaints, PetData is trying to bill me again after only one year. Seems like they are trying to enrich themselves due to bad bookkeeping and no customer service avenues for resolution.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/30/2024

We appreciate the customer letting us know about the additional billing that she received. We located a duplicate record for the pet that was merged, and the billing notice should be disregarded. The license that was paid for 3 years is valid through 2027. We apologize for the confusion caused.

See attached pdf for more details.
Pet data has denied my pet's license despite receiving proof of rabies vaccine and neuter. Associates working for this company are incompetent, argumentative, nasty, and what they're doing is fraudulent. I received a letter from pet data stating they could not issue my dog's license as they did not receive proof of neuter, even though their associate confirmed that they did recieve the paperwork, but said it "wasn't detailed enough". What kind of details do they need? My dog doesn't have his you know what intact, and it says as much on the veterinary paperwork, with a veterinarian signature. Call center Associates, and even a Supervisor, then tried to find new holes in my application, none of which were listed in the rejection letter. They falsely claimed I didn't pay enough, even though their letter acknowledges that I paid in full. Then the supervisor claimed my dog's name isn't on the paperwork I submitted to them, even though I sent them an email with documentation. and placed a phone call asking if it was an issue that my dog's name had been changed since being adopted from the shelter, which happens all the time.
Call center associates were intentionally making this difficult for me, going out of their way to deny the license application, even once I proved that they had proof of neuter. They're refusing to issue a license, and I'm going to be filing formal complaints against this company with the ftc, my local animal shelter, and local government, who should find a new company to handle their licensing.

We appreciate the customer letting us know about the problem and apologize for the frustration she experienced. The procedures regarding what documents may be accepted are established by the city with whom we contract. In response to the concerns raised regarding the document submitted, we reached out to the city. They contacted the customer, obtained a new document for the pet's alteration status, and forward the document to us. We have now issued the license, and the tag will be going out in next week’s mail. We forwarded a copy of the license receipt to the customer and provided contact information for any followup questions or concerns.

This is ridiculous!! We ordered and you took our money. 7/13/2024. We received a letter you needed spay and neuter information. We already gave to you but sent again. The letter says we didnt pay but we did! Credit card statement says money taken 7/13. I already called once. I also sent 3 emails. Now, your customer service says youre open and no one answering. No return phone call or any response through email. My next step is to call state of ******** and tell them you are not doing your job. Will call Monday. State of ********!!

Thanks to the customer for her patience! We did receive the payment for both pets, and we have now received the proof of spay/neuter as well. The licenses have been issued, and the tags were mailed on 8/29/24. The customer should be receiving them in the next few days.

PetData sent a license renewal form for my cat. While checking my personal information for mistakes, I saw that long-dead pets are still listed in my account (9 total, with 2 duplicated, plus duplicate entries for my current dog and one cat). I called PetData each time a deceased pet's license was up for renewal. It appears they did not update their records as the customer service **** promised. Now I'm going to need to call them again, as I no longer have paperwork for pets who've been dead for a decade or more. My current dog has two entries, one of which has his name cut off, but includes the rest of the description. I only have one dog. On top of all this, PetData cannot process my free license renewal online (I am a senior). I'd be happy to pay a small processing fee to avoid the inconvenience of buying stamps. Maybe PetData needs to do a pet-owner reconciliation form, to verify if a cat who was born in the year 1991 is still alive? K**** lived to be 17. She died in 2008. I no longer have paperwork for her. If she still lived, she'd be the world's oldest cat (33). PetData has a contract with animal control. There is no way to avoid doing business with them. This is stressful and upsetting. There should be a way to update my records without calling customer service **** who previously failed to do their jobs.

I have been trying to get my pet registered for almost one month, my county only allows 30 days. I have spent numerous times trying this website in different browsers and haven't had any success in getting my pet registered. I have reached out by email and contact form and not received any reply (I believe both were over a week ago). I also spent a long time on the phone waiting for customer service where I explained the site wouldn't allow me to select a species for my pet which I assume was the main error. They seemed like it was an account-specific issue and said it would be resolved in 24 hours (it wasn't and over a week later still hasn't been). I have made at least 3 accounts and all of the accounts behave differently (different fields, some accept my address some don't). What I ended up having to do was make a new account (not using the email I would have preferred) and since 2/3 accounts didn't accept my address as being in their service area (conveniently the only one that did didn't let me say the species and also didn't allow me to upload the rabies certificate) what I ended up having to register my pet at a different address I am associated within the county. I'm incredibly frustrated and unsure of how to change this but at least now my pet is registered in some form and I will be contacting my county and sharing this frustrating experience with them and hoping they can somehow help me.

I sincerely apologize to the customer for the trouble the customer had when licensing online. I confirmed that the customer was able to successfully license and was not charged any penalties. We also completed a correction for her address that was not coming up correctly. I have reached out to the customer with my contact information for any other questions or concerns.

My wife received a letter from PetData stating we were in violation of the law for not licensing our dog. She paid the fee without talking to me. I requested a refund saying that there is no reason for me to $15 a year plus a $1.95 service fee just because I have a dog.My dog can be tracked by the state without the license as he gets registered rabies shots. This license and fee is an unjust tax that uses strong arm robbery and intimidation to extort money from people.I want my money back.If I dont get my money back I will take my money back.I do not want to hear this is the law. The nazis threw Jews into gas ******** and did it with smiles because it was the law, so I give no care towards the law but will stand up for myself when abused by the likes of these grifters.

      Business Response

We actively assist our customers and help them license their pets. Since we operate under contract with the customers state, we are bound to follow state and local laws. Since the customers state law requires all dogs to be licensed, we are not able to refund a payment that was correctly paid. A dog license is beneficial for pet owners because if the pet were ever to be lost, *************** will be able to return that pet far more quickly when it is wearing its license tag. While a regular pet ID tag has only a phone number, *************** will have additional contact information on the record in addition to the pets rabies vaccination information which is critical for public safety.
