On July 30, 2023, I rented a McLaren from Boss Exotics in ******, *****, and placed a $5,000 deposit as part of the rental agreement. Upon returning the vehicle, the company claimed that a carbon fiber siding piece was missing and used this as justification for withholding my deposit. I have photos of car before taking it with damage so they couldnt say I did it and photos of car getting dropped off to valet guy with no damage besides what was done before by them. However, Boss Exotics never provided any more info of the alleged damage, a repair estimate, or any documentation to justify keeping my deposit. After initially mentioning the issue, they stopped responding to my inquiries. The last communication I received from them was in October 2023, and despite follow-up attemptsincluding an email in March which I have gotten no response. Today, I also discovered that the rental agreement link they provided has expired even though I had access yesterday before sending them an email and I can no longer access the document. I would upload this documents but I have no access to them now. I believe Boss Exotics is engaging in unfair and deceptive business practices by collecting large deposits from customers and refusing to return them without proper justification. I am seeking assistance in recovering my $5,000 deposit and at least getting a response from the company regarding this matter.Desired Outcome:A full refund of my $5,000 deposit, A formal response from Boss Exotics with proper documentation explaining why they are withholding my deposit. The photos of car with not upload I can send to an email if you need them I have timestamps on them and they are live so you can see it so th video as well

We have no record of this person being a customer.  Please provide an invoice showing that you did business with BOSS Exotics or close this complaint.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 04/30/2025

I am rejecting this response because:   I have attached clear and valid documentation proving otherwise. This includes:
A copy of the rental invoice from Boss Exotics showing my name, the rental date (July 30, 2023), and details of the vehicle.
Screenshots of the charges to my bank account, reflecting the $5,000 deposit taken by the company.
These documents clearly confirm my status as a customer of ********************. Additionally, I was in direct communication with their team regarding the return of the vehicle. They alleged damage and speeding violations without substantiating these claims, and then ceased communication after I requested a formal repair estimate and documentation. To date, they have not provided any legitimate proof to justify withholding my $5,000 deposit.
I am seeking a full refund of the deposit, or at minimum, a transparent breakdown of charges with legitimate documentation, which I have been requesting since August 2023 without success.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/02/2025

We have located your rental records from a few years ago and discovered your deposit was not returned because the car was returned damaged with a missing carbon fiber part.  We don't refund deposits for damages and you were notified of this at the time.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 05/02/2025

Thank you for your response. I understand your position, but I must respectfully reiterate that at the time of return, I was not presented with any formal documentation, repair estimates, or photographic evidence showing the alleged damage or missing carbon fiber part. I was also not provided with a breakdown of costs or an official notification confirming the forfeiture of my $5,000 deposit only a vague mention before communication ceased entirely.
As a paying customer, I have the right to receive proper documentation and communication regarding such a significant charge. I also have time-stamped photos of the vehicle at drop-off, which show no visible damage or missing parts.
Unless you can provide official documentation, repair invoices, and time-stamped photos proving the damage and cost, I must continue pursuing this matter through the appropriate channels, including formal complaints to the *** and ******************************, and legal options if necessary.
I am still open to resolving this amicably.

On March 15th, 2025, I zelle $ 3000 (in two separate payments of $1500) for the security deposit to rent a Black Mercedes C63 from BOSS Exotic from 6:00pm to 6:00 am. They dropped off the vehicle at *********** wedding venue in **********, ** where I was getting married. When the wedding reception ended at 11:00pm, me and my wife drove the vehicle 1.5 miles(5 mins away) to ****************************************, and we unloaded the car with our wedding gifts. At 11:32pm, BOSS Exotics texted me stating theres no rush but just let me know when you want me to pick it up. At 11:37pm, I replied back and said we are back at the hotel and it's ready for pickup. At 11:48pm, BOSS Exotics replied with Ok you can leave the keys with the front desk. At 11:50pm, I texted for the 3k deposit, will yall Zelle it back to me? At 11:56pm, BOSS Exotics replied back with yes they will once its checked in tomorrow, followed by stating BOSS Exotics employee is 15 mins away from my hotel at 12:03am. So, I waited about 10 mins at the front desk lobby instead of dropping the vehicle key off to the front desk receptionist. The BOSS Exotics employee was on the passenger side of a white sports car when he arrived and walked in and I immediately handed him the vehicle key. I have tried calling and texting BOSS Exotics regarding my $3000 security deposit but no reply back via text. I called BOSS Exotics yesterday (March 18, 2025) at 10:56am and their receptionist answered the phone and stated they're taking other calls and asked for my name and phone info, so an employee could call me back, which they never did. So I called BOSS Exotics back at 1:22pm and the same receptionist answered the phone stating they were in a meeting and then she repeated back my contact information I had given her almost 3 hours ago. After that, they have not answered any of my phone calls.

Attached is the BOSS Exotics's rental agreement that was sent to me on March 24 at 3:17pm CST. I already signed the rental agreement on March 15, which is  attached to my BBB complaint file. I'm confused why BOSS EXOTICS would email me another rental agreement when i already signed it on March 15.

These scammers are trying to bill me $2000 for a car that I never drove, never touched & never seen. It has been four years since these nuisances are harassing me by phone by email & by any means necessary. They are a whole bunch of con artists who dont even have cars. They go by different names so they can scam hardworking citizens. They are telling me just because they had to reserve a car for me. I must pay $2000 in liability. I have never contacted boss exotics, but since this is what Im seeing on the bill, Im reporting it beware! ************ along with others should be jailed for theft and fraudulent activities.

My son wanted to rent an exotic car for prom. The rental invoice included the car rental fee and how much he would get back if he returned it early. The deposit amount was not brought up until he went to pick up the card, which was $2500. I spoke to the gentlemen who asked me to up my property damage on my insurance to 300K and he did not mention anything to me about the deposit. Then when my son got there to pick it up, he was told about the deposit and called me. I spoke to the gentleman who then told me the deposit would cover our deductible if anything happened. Our deductible is not $2500. We decided not to go ahead with it because it seemed sketchy but he refused to give me son a refund only a credit for $883. I attempted to call and speak to him 3 times and he would not pick up and instead sent me a text: Our rental policies including the deposit amount are listed on our web site and in the documents he signed. We told him when he gets the deposit he can still come back and get the car anytime. The deposit is just a hold on the card thats it. When the car is returned the hols is released.Even Enterprise will charge you a $500 deposit for a Camry. Everyone knows there are deposits on rental cars especially cars that cost several hundred grand.I went on their website and you have to find the section and it does not give a precise deposit and in the rental policy the deposit wasnt stated. It would appropriate to tell a renter that the total amount is x with a x amount for deposit before agreement is signed because thats what enterprise does. At enterprise you pay for the rental and deposit at the time you pick up so things like this dont happen. Now my son is out money on prom night that he worked hard for. I would like this company to do the honorable thing and give him his money back.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/17/2023

As stated on the phone and in text to you, all rental cars require a deposit insure our cars are taken care of.  This was also emailed to your son in the Rental Policies. Even though your son is only 18 we even offered to reduce the deposit for him.  He said he didn't have it but would come back another time so the rental is a credit and can be used anytime in the future.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 04/19/2023

I am rejecting this response because my son did not have an option after speaking to the gentleman who was handling this. He was told he could not have a refund and that he would instead have a credit for future rental. My son left upset and had to get to prom, so I told him I would handle this which is why I tried to call multiple times only to get a text back after leaving a message when no one all of a sudden would pick up
As you stated he was not told about deposit amount until he signed rental agreement which did not disclose deposit amount.
When renting from a car rental company like enterprise, hertz, budget, etc, nothing is paid until time of pick up. So when you get to them and dont have full payment including deposit, the rental is canceled. If this was an honorable rental company you would disclose the exact amount of rental and deposit, not just state a deposit would be taken. I am asking for what is fair, and that is a refund.

The level of malpractice and deception by this company is astonishing! After completing repayment on the dealer financed loan on our vehicle in full, we have a statement from the company that verifies this, this company is now trying to extort $30,000 from us to 'keep our car and avoid repossession due to breach of contract', and when they couldn't get it from us, they tried strongarming our bank! We were told that we missed a payment (we were 3 payments away from finishing a four year agreement, with no missed payments) they were coming for the car, but if we wanted to keep it, we (or our bank, because according to them they have insurance for this, get them to do it, it was their mistake) needed to pay Boss Exotics an additional $30,000. We have all of this in writing in emails directly from the company, as does our bank. They also continued to issue us new "dealer tags" ILLEGALLY for the entire 4 years, and we were never able to legally register the car in *********. We have learned all of this since digging deeper into their practices in an attempt to get our title. Now it's paid off and we'd like to sell it, but they are withholding the title and stopped corresponding with us, or our bank when they didn't get what they wanted. Apparently, we can go through channels here and get a "bonded title", but we shouldn't have to do this! They do not even possess a dealer's license in the ************** as it was revoked in 2020 and the owner was brought up on charges of wire fraud and went to federal prison! A letter we just received on 2/18/23 directly from the Texas DMV department of investigations on ***** auto dealers states this, but that is NOT the case! They are continuing to defraud unsuspecting customers. Just look at the Yelp reviews stating as much. They are all-over the internet! We just want our title!

The customer purchased a car from us but quit making payments. The car was then placed in repossession status. The customer still has the car even though the contract was defaulted on. The customer has no legal rights of ownership to the car at this time.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 02/24/2023

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I never "quit making payments". I never missed a single payment. There was one payment that was late due to an error my bank made in submitting it electronically, which they acknowledged in a communication directly with Boss Exotics, taking full responsibility. That payment was then made immediately. No payments were ever missed prior to, nor after that incident. No proof of missing payments has ever been furnished by the company. No communication was ever made by the company asserting any payment was ever missed, prior to this incident, nor after it. In fact, company delivered a statement detailing the entire payment history on the car, showing it was paid in full, on time, a total of 48 payments at the contracted amount, none missed, no late fees, and the contract is satisfied, yet Boss Exotics continues attempting to extort an additional $30,000 from both myself and my bank to avoid repossession. My bank statement history also proves my payment compliance. The allegations are a bald faced lie and completely fraudulent. This company is in the business of fraud and extortion, period. The ***** DMV has sent ** the previous title and we will now pursue a bonded title with our bill of sale AND proof of payment provided to us by Boss Exotics, themselves. They have nothing to to gain by their false allegations and strong arm tactics, in withholding the title. As far as repossession of the car, they don't have a legal leg to stand on. They are clearly a company in the business of repossession and extortion, the evidence of which can be seen in the countless detailed reviews and detailed complaints of their practices, all over the internet, by unsuspecting customers who've been taken advantage of by their false representations and practices. Their license was revoked in 2020, yet they have managed to resume business defrauding the public. The Texas DMV and Attorneys General really need to open another investigation of this company and it's practices of bilking clients out of their hard earned money with unfounded and completely false claims, for which most consumers do not have the financial resources to fight. The owner was already charged, sentenced and sent to federal prison for wire fraud in 2020. Clearly their practices continue to be criminal and should be treated as such. I will continue to pursue legal action. The public deserve to be protected from their criminal practices.

    10/09 my wedding day.

We engaged communication a few weeks prior with a few red flags, but took the guy at his word still. The day they were supposed to deliver 5 cars. The guy shows up with 1 car instead of all of them. His idea was to drive 1 car over and **** back...mind you, we only had a couple hours time limit. Instead we go meet him at the office to just pick all up. He takes an hour to get the second car, in which, he then refuses the guys who were supposed to drive, drive it. We rent one car and leave it at that. A few weeks later they run my card info for ~$21,000 and show my bank our invoices, but intentionally hide what we actually rented which was one car not 5

    Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2023/02/16) */
This customer initially inquired about renting 5 cars but wanted them delivered on a Sunday at 7 AM. We don't open until 10 AM but we made an exception. When the first car was delivered, he complained that he wanted all 5 at once. We explained that we did not have 5 employees working at 7 AM on a Sunday so he changed his mind and only wanted 2 cars. Then his card was declined for payment for the second car. The hour he wasted had to do with him trying to get his card company to approve the charge which never happened so he only rented 1 car. Later, the Lamborghini was returned wrecked. Exotic cars are expensive and when damaged repairs are costly.

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2023/02/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
False information once again. They advertise 9am is when they open online. I asked for 9am in the text screenshot...my bank declined their charges because they had already ran my card prior to any services being provided. Also, other screenshot shows the morning of, they last minute asked us to pick up cars instead of what was agreed upon which was they'd be dropping off. Then again switched it back to they'd be dropping off...we were never notified that this wouldn't be possible to be done in a timely and efficient manner. I gave them the schedule of the events of the day so I'm not sure how they thought their method of drop off made any sense (screenshot). Also, they agreed to 9am, not 7am as they continually lie (screenshot). This company needs to be shutdown.

I received your email this morning and this is my response. I am requesting a full refund of $1,329.44. As you know I have disputed the other amounts with my bank, due to false advertising, and a horrible rental experience. If my refund request is not granted, I will be pursuing further legal actions.
I had originally signed the "rental Invoice" $1,329.44 on 9/2/22 at 8:45 AM. We had been discussing a 6-hour rental vs 24 hour and I decided on the 24-hour rental 9/2/22. This was for a 3 pm rental on 09/2/22. At the time per Boss Exotics website https://bossexotics.com/home/rental-inventory/ and the "rental Invoice" there was no mention of mileage or additional charges. I was verbally informed there would be a $2,500 deposit which would be returned if the car was not damage (understandable). My bank account was debited for the $1,329.44 on 09/2/22 at 9:32 AM per my banker. Per my legal council at this time all documents and additional fees legally would have had to be disclosed for them to be valid. Once payment is drafted you cannot add additional charges, change terms, etc. As mentioned earlier as of this time there was no mention of mileage or additional charges.
I was sent a second document "rental agreement" on 09/2/22 at 1:16 PM. This was hours after I signed the "rental invoice" and the money was already debited from my account. Why being I sent additional documents out of order? Either way this document appears fine and there was still NO mention of charge for additional mileage. I was sent a third document "rental policy 2" at 2:30 PM. I was sent this document while in the Uber on my way to get the rental.

The bottom line here is If I was presented all the material facts on 9/22/22 at 8:45 and had a chance to review all 3 documents prior to my deposit being withdrawn I would have not gone through with this transaction. This is false advertising and scam techniques at their finest.

The customer rented a McLaren from us and put on several hundred more miles on the car than what he was allowed. He was charged for those extra miles and then did a chargeback for the entire rental amount. Not only that, he abused our car and the car's computer registered it being driven 150 MPH over 20 times. This is fraud and the customer is being legally pursued.

I have all messages from the dealer stating that they would ship the key, then said they couldn't find it, then said a different key could be shipped to try, then said the key was not shipped because I complained. Also have the messages stating that they will have the transportation insurance pay for damage, then saying that it will take a lot of time to pay, now they say that transportation damage is my responsibility. I will make a formal lawsuit against the company.
