Tejas Roofing has agreed to replace my roof for $5700 then they came out with a $7,000 estimate and kept on pushing me to sign a contract that I did not agreed to. Representative **** keep pushing me to sign a contract and when I was to sign for the job to be completed he just dumped me saying he will be out of town and then this is when I realize this company is a joke and does not take deals or customers seriously. Now 2-3 months later owner ***** is asking for me to pay $250 for a supposed trap that was installed as leak proof on my roof, but this was not even installed properly as it was tore off the roof and nails ended up on my parking space which I ended with nails on my tires ?? had to replace them both with a cost of over $400. The owner ***** also harassing on filing a lien on my property for those $250 which honestly I shouldnt even be charged after all the harassment done to my person by pushing me to sign a contract and making me pay a different price to what I had already budgeted and that they had agreed to work on with me.

*********** was contacted by Ms. * to inspect her home for storm damage.  Our estimator inspected and did confirm damage.  Ms. * filed a claim which was approved for total replacement of the roof and informed our estimator that she had received a check from the insurance company for $3,900.  She also stated that along with her deductible of $1,800 she now had $5,700 and to let her know what we could work out and if we could get her job done.  Our estimator never agreed to complete her job for the amount of money she said she had and asked her several times if she had received her scope of work for the claim, which apparently the insurance company was delayed in sending to her.  Its obvious that Ms. *
was not aware that she had a replacement policy that had recoverable depreciation and that the depreciation payment would be paid after the job was completed and our final invoice was submitted to the claims dept.    When the claim summary was provided to our estimator, he then wrote her roof proposal to match the insurance companys replacement cost and to also match the insurance companys scope of work.  *********** works on insurance claims every day and we follow the law strictly on billing and deductible fraud.  We do not cover deductibles or fraudulently bill for work we do not perform, hence the need to see the insurance scope of work and payment amount.  Many  homeowners dont realize that they still have a holdback payment that is paid after completion of the job.  I think Ms. * thought we were trying to bait and switch her somehow?  I dont think she thought she could keep the holdback payment because I dont think she even knew it existed, and she never gave us the opportunity to explain the claim payment process.
Her insurance scope of work totaled            $7,427.03
    Depreciation                                                              - $2,107.32
    Deductible                                                                  -  $1,821.00
    Net Claim   (first check)                                          $3,948.71

Recoverable Depreciation                                 + $2,107.32   paid at completion

Total of Payments after completion                $5,606.03
Payment of Deductible to Contractor          +$1,821.00

Our estimator did install a small temporary tarp on ***** roof which the insurance company did pay for on their scope of work.  Temporary tarps are exactly that Temporary.  There have been several severe storms in our area since that temporary tarp was installed and I would not be surprised if it was blown loose.
TDI and the state of ***** have very strict laws related to billing and deductible fraud.  *********** complies with them completely.

Unfortunately I think Ms.* doesnt understand the claims process as required by law now.

We wrote her proposal to match her insurance companys replacement cost and included an upgrade from 20 yr 3-tab shingles to a complete *AF Timberline *** 50 yr warranty system with an extended warranty from *** and all she had to do was pay her deductible as required by law.  If she had allowed us to explain the claims process this would have had a very good outcome for her in the end.

We had hail damage on our roof two years ago. Tejas Roofing came out and advised that we needed a new roof. We employed them and they put on a new roof. Two weeks later, we had water spots on our ceiling. We called Tejas and the owner came out to survey the situation. He sent a crew out to supposedly do some repairs. The spots did not go away and continued to get worse. We had a contractor come out recently to do some work on our home and asked him to look at the roof. He took pictures and showed us where there were gaps between the valves and the shingles. in addition, he said he believed the shingles used were second hand shingles. On top of that, he said there was still hail damage on our roof. We are having to pay a contractor for Tejas' shoddy workmanship. It is really pathetic that they would take advantage of a customer like that. We would recommend never using Tejas Roofing to anyone.

    Hello *********,
Your new husband ***, has been a long time customer of ours and maybe its best if we start from the beginning of our relationship with him.  In our small community most of our customers become friends as well.
The first job we did for *** was a total replacement for hail damage completed on Oct. 12, 2010.  We upgraded the roof from twenty year 3-tab shingles to thirty year dimensional shingles at no additional cost.  I have the entire paper file for that job (14 pages).
Shortly after that, October 27, 2010 another hail storm came through and the roof was a total loss again.  The roof was totally replaced again with thirty year dimensional shingles with a five year labor warranty.  We have the entire paper file for this job as well (9 pages).
On November 2, 2015  *** called with a leak around or above a window.  We came out and caulked a window and the siding near the window (entire file 4 pages).  $100 service charge
On March 11, 2021 *** called to report spots on the living room ceiling.  Starting that day, we had temperatures in the single digits with snow and ice that continued to be below freezing continuously until March 19, 2021, but I did come out to look on March 15 while there was still ice on the roof and advised that ice damming was likely the problem.  *** agreed to watch the spots until the next rain to see if the spots became bigger.  (this is the first report of leaks in the living room).  No charge for this call
On April 28, 2021 *** called to report that he thought the stains in the living room had become larger and darker.  Upon inspection the leak was obviously in the same area and we advised that it was likely from condensation or overflow from the condensation pan on the air conditioner that is directly over the leak area.  The furnace vent flashing appeared correct and there was debris and insulation in the tray that could block the drain (we have pictures in the file).  No charge for this call.
On May 11, 2021 *** called to report that he now had a new leak that effected one third of the bedroom ceiling and he could hear water dripping in the ceiling.  It was not raining that day and upon inspection we found that the upstairs toilet tank valve was leaking and flooded the upstairs bathroom and was leaking down onto the bedroom below.  I turned off the water at the tank valve. No charge for this call.
On May 26, 2021 *** called to report a leak in the kitchen.  A puncture in the roof was found.  Our repairman was out to repair the roof  shortly after and the repair was billed on June 14,2021.
On May 8, 2023 *** called to report that he was once again having spots appear on the ceiling in his living room and bedroom.  Upon inspection, we advised that a recent hail storm had come through the area again and he might want to file a claim.  *** agreed.  I met with the adjuster to help *** with the claims process.  *** was awarded a new roof, new gutters and interior repairs to repair the sheetrock and paint the kitchen ceiling, living room ceiling and bedroom ceiling.  He was also awarded payment for a detached metal barn that the adjuster did not inspect, but upon my suggestion there was damage found and it was paid for.   The Tejas Roofing scope of work on this job was only the roof and gutters for a total charge of $20,530.27.  We included upgrades to Bobs roof that were not paid for by the insurance company that we did not charge for as follows :
Tear off of second layer of wood shingles and install decking on the back porch and kitchen area $400   NO CHARGE
156 ft. powder coated gutter guard  $624  NO CHARGE
1X6X8 ft pine for decking repair, 10 pieces  $160 NO CHARGE
High Wind Install of shingles, six nails instead of four nails per shingle.  $172 NO CHARGE
GAF System Plus extended warranty  $210  NO CHARGE
Thats $1,738.00 in additional services that we provided at no charge.

We keep very good records and as a matter of fact, we have seventy eight communications and forty six documents related to your file in both digital format and paper for this most recent job dated July 28, 2023 that include all labor and NEW materials.   So, your assertion that we took advantage of you, used second hand shingles, and provided shoddy workmanship is preposterous.

Your statement that you called to report spots on your ceiling again two weeks after the job was completed is false and misleading.  Your roof was completed on July 21, 2023 and invoiced on July 28, 2023.    In fact, we had nineteen more communications with *** from July ******* until October 9, ************************************* spots on the ceilings.  The first report of spots on the ceiling again was on January 17, 2024,  And coincidentally, those spots appeared under the same air conditioner in the living room where the previous spots appeared, and during another severe winter weather event with temperatures in the teens for five days straight and with little to no precipitation.    Condensation problems can arise due to hot air from the furnace leaking from the duct work and coming into contact with cold air.  We have photos on file of debris in the condensation tray and stains from leaks around this particular unit.  We again advised that we believed the problem to be from condensation due to the weather conditions and the spots showing up in the same location.  However; on March 25, 2024 *** called in to the office to advise of his frustration over the leaks and stated that he would be getting lawyers involved if this problem wasnt corrected soon.   We responded by sending a repairman out to re-flash the furnace vent  above the A/C unit that is in the attic above the spots on the ceiling.  ************ was noted with a warranty invoice that was mailed to *** showing  No Charge.

In conclusion to your BBB review, Ill say this:   I believe that over the course of fifteen years we have been very responsive and professional in our communications and services related to your roof problems.  Your new roof is a GAF Timberline *** complete system roof that includes a GAF System Plus extended warranty that is in effect for fifty years from the manufacturer, GAF.  We have never failed to respond to your calls for service.  I have been in the roofing business for thirty five years and our company is certified by *** as  a Master Elite contractor.  Im not sure who you had inspect the roof that claimed there were gaps between the valves and shingles?  There are no valves on your roof.  And, if there are pictures of that, second hand shingles and shoddy workmanship, please provide those photos and we will certainly correct those deficiencies if they do in fact exist.    *** has been a loyal customer for fifteen years and its very disappointing that our business and personal relationship has been tarnished.

    Sincerely,
    ***** *****

Tejas Roofing is a 1st class business. The best of the best. They replaced our roof after a hail storm, installed gutters on our home and replaced gutters on our shop. They took the time to explain the different types of shingles and gutters so that we felt confident with the materials we selected for our house. The roof and gutters look great. They also replaced the roof on my mother's house. Her new roof looks great. ***** and ******* worked with her to make sure she had exactly what she needed. I can't say enough about about their customer service. They truly care about their customers. I definitely recommend *******************************************!! They're awesome people.
