Sent in a Quadrajet for a 72 C10 ***********, I have been keen on using a proper matching numbers unit (the one I have is actually for a 1978 truck but runs properly/great) When the carburetor came back the truck would hardly run after hours of trying to tune it. I sent the carburetor back and when it was returned it still would not tune properly and vacuum choke break operating incorrectly, so the truck would hardly start in the mornings. I then took the truck to a shop, that specializes in classic cars and they were unable to tune the carburetor, said the carburetor was junk and to use the one I had replace it with. They offer no real support or sympathy, no matter what they actually say. No phone call offered or seemed allowed. Email correspondence is generally not answered and when they do, it is like a 6 year old responding with little substance. They say they are to busy working on carburetors. My take, they are to busy stealing your money. They may respond to this review "we tried to help" - well that isn't true. If they cared about their work, they would actually try and find out the cause of the problem and what went wrong. They are suppose to be the experts and should stand by their work. I'd even take the carburetor was bad from original factory build and they missed it when checking it out. Stuff happens with old parts but just saying your don't know what you are doing or your mechanic doesn't know either is utter ****, in my opinion. After reporting what was told to me but my mechanic, this was their response:"I have only built a few thousand Quadrajets. How many has he seen? Im really sorry you cant tune it or find someone that can. We have tried our best to help."Gee, that's helpful... assuming they ever send out a working carburetor I assume it is only by luck.

    Quadrajet Power LLC Response

We are sorry he couldn't tune it. Quadrajets are all we build and we have an 8 month backlog. Only a few return of the thousands we have build over the years for customers all over the world. It is difficult for us to tune remote for someone not willing to follow our advice. This customer went to forums for advice and would tell us what we need to do to help. We offered our help, and tried to tune it as close as possible when it was returned. He continued to tell us we knew nothing about these and the internet forums were his source of info. Again, sorry we couldn't help you. We offer support by email, and not by phone. We assist many whether they purchase from us or not and cannot do the volume by phone or our backlog would be even longer. We are thankful for all of our business and our thousands of very pleased customers. There are a few that we just cannot help with their needs.

    Customer Response

Somewhere Quadrajet Power responded to my review but I cannot see it (I got a email from BBB there was a response from them). Quadrajet Power go on and on about my struggle to get help via online resources (forums) because they did really help. Though it is true they emailed me but this “help” was lacking and that is being generous. They are basically saying they don't care what I tried to report because they are right, due to the “fact” they have rebuilt thousands of Quadrajet Carburetors. So if you like to get a one sentence email response, with like 4 words in it – then yep they “tried to help” and this place is for you. They say they provided advice, well now I am calling them an outright liar. Perhaps they mean their instruction sheet – yep followed it. In the end, it does matter what I said to them, what I read, saw or was told online. I limped my truck into a ASE Certification mechanic shop and was told the carburetor was untunable and unusable. I limped back home and reinstalled my old carburetor that allowed my truck to return to normal operation. Again, I am calling them an outright liar on their comment “someone not willing to follow our advice”. If a ASE Certification mechanic can’t get the carburetor working then they can’t either with their so called “advice”. Also, having a backlog isn't an excuse for anything, hire more people and stop your whining about that. If anything that comment means you can't keep up and are struggling, which in turn your quality has apparently suffered. I don't care about your backlog, I am the one that sent a large amount of money for your services and some semblance of assistance. I even bought additional parts because you said my fuel was being siphoned from the bowl. What a way to upsell, if anything that was a good way to steal even more money from me.
