• Advertising Review:

  BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.  These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

  On August 19, 2024, BBB contacted Bella Sleep Company/Bonamour Sleep Company regarding advertising on their website https://bellasleepcompany.com.

  Bella Sleep Company/Bonamour Sleep Company advertises claimed results including: 

  “Fall Asleep Faster. Shown to decrease the time to fall asleep by 50-70% vs without use.”

  “Sleep Through Night.  Wake-up fewer times throughout the night with the use of Smartsound technology.”

  “Improve Deep Sleep. Spend more time in the critical deep sleep stage for better rest & recovery.”

  “Proven Results It Improves Sleep”

  BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.

  BBB requested Bella Sleep Company to substantiate the advertised claims and health benefits by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent studies or other objective data substantiating the claims advertised.

  Bella Sleep Company also advertises “Yes. We warranty all of our products for five (5) years.” If you have any issues with the product we will replace without question.”

  BBB Code of Advertising states when using the terms “warranty” or “guarantee” in product advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuouslyinclude a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to the sale at the advertiser’s location, viewed on the advertiser's website or, in the case of mail or telephone order sales, made available free on written request.   

  BBB requested Bella Sleep Company to provide a copy of their warranty and modify their website to disclose how a consumer can view the warranty or guarantee prior to sale.  

  Bella Sleep Company also advertises a sale on products advertising the original prices with the sales price.

  BBB Code of Advertising states the unqualified term “sale” may be used in advertising only if there is a significant reduction from the advertiser’s usual and customary price of the products or services offered and the sale is for a limited period of time.  If the sale exceeds thirty (30) days, advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the offering is indeed a valid price reduction and has not become their regular price.

  BBB requested Bella Sleep Company/Bonamour Sleep Company to substantiate that the price reduction has not become the regular price.  

  Bella Sleep Company/Bonamour Sleep Company advertises several testimonials from customers advertising specific outcomes.

  BBB Code of Advertising states in general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if it is not genuine and does not actually represent the current opinion of the endorser, A consumers experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service, unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be.

  BBB requested Bella Sleep Company/Bonamour Sleep Company to disclose and substantiate with scientific evidence the typical results from customers’ testimonials and substantiate the testimonials advertised.  

  As of September 23, 2024, the business failed to respond to BBB's requests.
