    A couple days ago, I received an automated email purporting to be from South Austin Medical Clinic saying that I owed money and that I could click on the link to pay. I had not been to South Austin Medical Clinic in over a year, and the email looked very simple, so I was worried it was a scam. Therefore, I called South Austin Medical Clinic's billing department. Their billing department said I owed approximately $13 from a visit back in 2021. I asked why South Austin Medical Clinic had not contacted me sooner about owing this money, and I was told that their prior policy was not to reach out for amounts owed under $20 but that policy has now changed. I told the billing department that a little more explanation in the email would have been good, and the billing person said "we aren't going to do that." And she proceeded to ask if I wanted to pay over the phone or online. When I said I guess I will pay online, the billing person curtly said thanks and hung up on me. I obviously will not be going back to South Austin Medical Clinic for my health services in the future.
