I asked one month ago for my doctor to refill my partial opioid during my appointment. I have chronic pain and have been on this med for six years, monthly, at the same exact dosage. I'm deathly allergic (seizures and anaphylaxis, anyone?) to any other medicine in the class that works for my type of pain. She went on vacation without filing the medicine. My pharmacy sent in two refill requests over the past week, I've called twice, sent messages through my chart and eventually visited the office twice. Until today, I was told she would respond same day to these messages and that's she's there. Nope. She's been on vacation and will be for another week. So I ask to talk to the doctor on call, he a then accuses me of being a drug addict and says I need to take a drug test; even though I'm happy to prove that I take my meds as prescribed he then says even if I took this test he won't prescribe anything and that "this will just a hard lesson about waiting until the last minute". Since when is waiting until a month before the refill date "waiting until the last minute"? When I corrected him he said that the pain medicine helping was all in my head and again said I was obviously abusing my meds. So thanks ** ******** of ****. I hope you don't deal with many chronic pain patients because your bed side manner is horrendous. You obviously hold a bunch of disdain for patients who can't help the fact that they are in pain every day.
