1 starComplete scam. Please make all your family members aware about this. Not even sure why hospitals allow them inside delivery rooms. They will not tell you that their special hearing test costs and how they don't cover any insurance. And after delivery you will receive a triple digit bill solely to be covered by you. You get admitted to a hospital with In network coverage then these scammers make their way to your baby only to rip you off. I really hope each of them get their Karma to their fullest.Ears and Hearing

You did submit a review on ****** as well. We did explain, in detail, about our consent form that was signed, initialed, and dated by you. This consent form went into great detail that we are out of network with your insurance, how much you would be charged for the test, and we gave our phone number if you had any questions about our billing. If you would like to discuss your bill further we will be more than happy to help in any way we can. Thank you!

Do you understand that in the Delivery room parents are barely awake. They literally sign everything that comes through as a consent to get the baby tested, mother treated, and get the process going. I doubt you ever mentioned that you are out of network, and Insurance won't be covering the test, and it will be $165 for the hearing test that is being done for $10-$60 anywhere **********'s unfortunate that out of network tests are pushed in the hospital delivery rooms where the original admissions are done on the basis of In-network hospitals. This is a scam orchestrated by both Hospitals and Ears and Hearing knowing that parents are in their most vulnerable situations at the time. I am going to follow with Hospital and their governing body as well regarding this scam. Need this callous system changed for every newborn in hospitals.Review fromAleecia B

1 starNot a scam technically but definitely a scam. We were told in the hospital they would bill us and we would send the invoice to our insurance to pay. When speaking with someone on the phone about it AFTER we had already had the test done, I am told oh we rarely get paid from insurance and arent in network with many and definitely dont have contracts . What a joke and I wish our hospital wouldnt even let them do this to parents. They definitely take advantage or new parents.Ears and Hearing

I apologize about the confusion on the self filing process for your insurance. You are correct when you said you would be billed and you would have to file a claim on your own behalf to receive some kind of assistance from your insurance company. I have a note on your account that we did speak about this with you and advised that we could wait at least 90 days for your insurance to respond. Please give our office a call if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you!Review fromRichard G

1 starThis company preys on families in hospitals by providing a routine hearing screen but not covered under the patients insurance plan. It may not legally be a scam but it is shady business. Why would I spend thousands on my twins NICU bills to then have a cash pay process with it. Hospitals should drop them because how this reflects on them. They are a disgrace to the process of newborn screening and the audiologist profession. I tell all my friends having a baby in the hospital we did that when they come by for the hearing screen you refuse and if you are concerned, then follow up with your PCP on discharge. So take note Ears and Hearing on your reputation here and consider doing some credentialing with insurance and stop practicing shady business.Ears and Hearing

1 starThis complaint is not regarding paying the bill but honesty and poor customer service. I asked and I was told there were no supervisors to talk to about my concerns and that no one would return my call. The person answering the phones was very unprofessional and rude.it is very important for the screeners to be honest with new customers. I was told that insurance covered the screen and it did not. I made a mistake myself by trusting her and not fully reading the consent which is completely unacceptable. (I did just have a baby and pain had taken medication). I would have held off and had this test performed at the pediatricians office and paid a simple copay.Ears and Hearing

1 starThis company does not bill insurance. They require that you pay the bill up front and pursue insurance on your own. For almost a year I have requested an itemized statement so that I can submit a claim to insurance myself. I do NOT recommend this company.Ears and Hearing

We do not require payment at the time of service. It takes about 2 months for the bill to be sent from the date of service. While looking at your account, we did set up a payment plan for you that began on 12/02/2022. We did not receive another payment until February of 2023. After that we did not hear anything from you or had any other payment. Our representative did a courtesy call to avoid collection in June of 2023 and sent out your itemized statement then. If you have any other issues or concerns please feel free to contact me. Thank you!

1 starThis is the most unprofessional business I've ever encountered with the worst customer service. I don't even care so much that we got billed for a service that could have been covered if my pediatrician did it in clinic. Or that my first name and my middle initial are wrong on the invoices. It's the fact that you cannot get in contact with these people. I paid my bill, twice, by sending in a check. Yet, I continued to get bills saying that I was going to be sent to collections. I called their office multiple times - various days at various times - and could never get anyone to answer the phone to discuss this. I just wanted to talk to someone over the phone to pay so that I could ensure that they would close out my account and not magically find my checks later and cash those too. Finally, after weeks of trying to call, I just paid online, which I guess I should've done to begin with. But it would be nice if someone would answer their phone or return calls so that you could discuss your bill. I don't understand why any hospital would contract with them.Ears and Hearing

1 starWe get that we consented to pay for this service, but we can't even pay for the service. My wife has been calling and has left messages this past week and we haven't been able to get through. The listed website to pay the bill doesn't work. I just don't want to get sent to collections because nobody wants to actually take our money.Ears and Hearing

1 starCame into the room disguised as hospital staff the very next day after delivery of my baby, presented forms and wanted me to sign and initial without explaining what the form was about, all of this were happening while Im still recovering from c-section and under the influence of anesthesia, months later received a bill of $275, definitely learnt my mistake. What a scamEars and Hearing

***************************** is a third party contracted with the hospital, as was stated on the consent form prior to screening. When you signed the consent form you initialed next to the statement specifically stating that ***************************** is not in network with your specific insurance company and that you would be charged and responsible. Parents are personally responsible for filing with your insurance to potentially get reimbursed. Our company policy is to obtain written consent prior to the first screening. ***************************** has made efforts to be transparent about every aspect of the screening prior to service and express all information regarding hospital affiliation, purpose, and requirements of the screening as well as billing and insurance information. We have in place, instructional scripts for each technician to use in addition to the consent form to reduce confusion with the screening. To have a completed consent form, which is company policy to acquire prior to screening, five initials for each segment and a signature at the end are needed. This process takes time and consideration and our NCHAM-trained technicians have scripts in place to help answer any questions, thoughts, or concerns a parent might have. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I will reiterate to all screeners to follow the company protocol that is currently in place.Review fromHaley R

1 starI'm sad that so many new moms are preyed on. There is no patient care with billing or services. The "technician" smelled of cigarette smoke, did not move the baby to a quiet area in our room, and was talking during it while I held the baby. I don't even think she got positioning correct. Huge waste, but thank God my baby had no issues and not even sure they works have caught if they did. Since services, the acting provider has disciplinary alert on his license as well. I'm so disappointed that the hospital and this facility has such disregard for patients. We should have been notified that the provider's cerification that our insurance requires was not current at the time.Ears and Hearing
