I was purchasing a new home from Carnegie Homes and they never completed the house and then apparently went into forclosure sometime between Sept. 2022 and May 2023. I was never notified of anything.I tried to file this in 2024 but when I looked Carnegie had been removed from the BBB site, so I couldn't, I just thought I would try again and it is here. My house was to be completed in September ********************************************** October 2022. I kept waiting and did contact the corporate office and was not really told anything. I paid them ***** ******* and ******** upgrade money total = ******* + 1200 worth of blinds I purchased on my own to be ready for moving day. Total cost was ******* including the blinds which I can't use as my windows in my current home are different sizes. 12% Interest on this money would be *******, so I am asking for this too.I am requesting ******* total and I think I should get more due to all the frustration ************** address was ******************************************Initial Complaint

We signed a contract on our dream home, sold our house, started renting a house for twice the mortgage price of the house we sold and put down $5000 in cash to start our home in May of 2022. We waited 7 months for ground to break on the home we were so excited to build. After 7 months of no progress and very little communication from the company we finally decided to cancel the build, void the contract and buy a home instead of build with this company. We were promised a refund on the ****** money we put down on the home over and over when we asked about it, no information was ever volunteered by the company. I recently tried to correspond with the company and the emails just come back to be returned because the people we were in contact with are no longer employed by the company. This company has several houses that are just shells standing in the neighborhood we once sought after to be a part of. The neighborhood is awful now with shells of houses and building supplies everywhere, the grass and weeds are grown up everywhere and these people have stolen our money and wont refund it. We did our part, they have flat out neglected to do theirs. We just want our hard earned money back!!Initial Complaint

We went through the process of starting a home build in ****** ***** with Carnegie Homes back in May 2022. After 7 months there was no permit filed with the City of ****** so we requested a refund for the $5,000.00 ******* money, filed the request in December 2022. We received emails stating that they were working on it, to which those email senders can no longer be found. Its been over half a year since the cancellation was filed and no further communication has been received Everything was done on docusign and records are all official. This is ridiculous. The homes that were started in that area are just sitting there incomplete taking all that the ***** weather has to offer. We want our refund back. We did everything that they requested in a timely manner.they have not! They never got the building permit or started the build but they kept the ******* money!Initial Complaint

I was to purchase a new home build in Lakeview Estates ***********, ***** (*********************************). Original closing date was 07/22/2022. I relocated from ********** to ***** and was left residing in a hotel for 5 months as the builder strung me along giving me different completion dates and they would eventually increase the price. Last I looked the home still was never completed. I have submitted the form to have my ******* money returned. It has now been a good 6 months and I have not heard anything. I have followed up several times. After reading these reviews, it appears everybody was having the same issue. Carnegie Homes needs to make things right with those of ** who are out money by their terrible business practices.Business Response

We signed a contract to build with carnegie in ******** ** back in Feb 2022. We waited and waited for construction to begin but we kept keep getting the run around that it will start soon. We got tired of waiting because there was no end in sight, sales person was no help. We decided to cancel our contract in Nov 2022, sales person sent ** the form to fill out and return, so we did and it stated we would get a refund typically in ***** days. ******************* the *** signed off on it as well. So here we are May 11, 2023 and we have yet to receive the refund and the only response ive been getting is we are working on a resolution to sent out refunds for months on end. Carnegie is the most unprofessional company there is, no wonder they have a lawsuit in hand. We need resolution to this, I guarantee theres several other people out here who have yet to receive their refund. This is not right and completely outrageous.Business Response

I entered into a new build contract with Carnegie October of 2021 and put 5k ******* money down. They finally broke ground on the home in August 2022. Delay after delay occurred with almost zero communication. We found out Mr. ******************* was involved with investor fraud with the SEC. Construction halted in November of 2022 and never resumed. Last week (May 2023) all the homes were foreclosed and we lost everything. Not once did we get a call or email updating ** on anything. Everytime we would reach out, we were given the runaround. Ive lost over $7500 due to this whole process and never once had I heard from *******************. Doing further research, hes done this before under a different company name.Business Response

WE WATCHED MANY HOMES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD SURPASS OURS AND WERE COMPLETED IN APRIL OF 2022. WE WERE TOLD SO MANY CLOSING DATES OUR HOME WOULD BE FINISHED. WE WATCHED MANY HOMES CLOSE BEFORE OURS, WHEN NOTHING WOULD BE DONE FOR MONTHS ON OURS. WE PAID OUR ******* MONEY AND MONEY IN UPGRADES, WE DIDNT COMPLAIN. WE WERE ASSURED THAT OUR HOUSE WOULD GET DONE. SEPT 2022 RIGHT AROUND THE **** HE WAS BEING CHARGED WITH THE SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMISSION, THEY SAID THEY HAD TO RAISE OUR SALES PRICE ******. I am rejecting this response because: I have not received any communication as to what the resolution they are working on is to get our money back. This is just another vague response like the other complaints that have come from other clients and customers. This is theft, stealing peoples hard earned money. ***** made sure to refinance his own house AGAIN, in August of 2022 of 640,000 just before the SEC lawsuit was coming out public. Everyday I think about our money taken from ** and all the many the lies we were told. I do not now how everyone in this badly ran business can sleep at night.

or about September 30 2022, I entered into a new home construction contract with Carnegie Homes at 717 Hacamore drive a new homes development. Part of the contract agreement was to put down a deposit for ($5,000) for the new home. After more than 4 months went by and Carnegie Homes did not make any progress on building the new home after stating that the home would be completed by the end of December 2022. I contacted the real estate agent in January 2022 and ask to cancel the contract and get my money back due to Non-Performance on the contract to build the new home. The agent sent me the form to begin the request and I sent it back (January 2023) but I have not heard back from the agent and told me that the request would be approved and i just would have to wait for ************ to sign the check. In October of 2021 my husband and I signed with Carnegie Homes to build our new house. We put down the ******* money and $20,000+ for upgrades. After 14 months of being told multiple times that we were getting closer to breaking groundnothing happened. We cancelled our contract on December 29, 2022. It took *********** over 2 weeks and pressure from the sales associate to finally sign the cancellation. Per the cancellation form we are to receive our money back. However, this has not happened. When we call nobody answers. When I email *********************** or ***************** we are told they are working on our refund. *********** also doesnt return phone calls. I entered into a contract with Carnegie Homes in 1-2022. Permits finally issued 5/2022. Construction started late summer 2022 and stalled since 11/2022. Promises, lack of response and stall tactics until 4-3-23 when told by the building manager that he hasnt been paid in 2 months, that an office had been shut down and that I should contact the owners assistant - he gave me her direct number. She and others with Carnegie Homes had not responded for two weeks to me or my lender. I called/texted/emailed her and received a response that she had nothing to tell me and that I should contact the owner- ********************* and provided his information. No response. Then discovered the criminal charges on the *** and SEC lawsuit filed. Appears the website is down and no one answers the phone.I have $5000 plus some money for extras that need to be refunded.
