    **** installed my air conditioning system 18 years ago. A couple weeks ago, the upstairs air conditioner stopped cooling. I am out of town, but my adult daughter called **** to schedule service. The "tech" showed up a few days later. He gave us two options, Option 1, try to repair for $3000. but he thought that might not work. Option 2, get a quote for new system. I got the quote, $27,000.When the tech showed up, I was still out of town, but was on the phone when he talked to my daughter. He was a snake oil salesman., Apparently I paid for a salesman, not a ******* two options from ****, 3k *** 30k. I took a third, and with my son we figured out the problem as bad cooling fan. We fixed it for $300.00. We are not AC Techs. This company is a fraud. Some Notes:1. System has been cooling for several weeks after our repair.2. "Tech" left no write up, or anything detailing what he found.3. The "Tech" made sure that we knew if we went for the 3k repair it might not work. He was really pushing a new system.

    Contacted Houk ** to get a diagnostic done at property were renting out. I explained more than once to the lady I spoke to that they have to coordinate with the tenant an appointment to see when they are available, but the technician has to contact me (the owner) about a quote since Im the owner and Im the one paying. Well, first time the technician headed to the property he didnt contact the tenant to see if they were available, but sent me an automated message that theyre arriving soon. Tenant was not available when he got there. Called Houk ** again, spoke to same lady and advised again to schedule the appointment with the tenant to make sure someone is at the house and contact me to go over status of **, quote and payment. I never had any other company in the past have difficulties with this! Well, all I received was a call from Houk ** asking for a payment. The technician replaced the capacitor without contacting me to get an authorization or giving me a run down on whats going on. After asking why this service was done without calling me first she transferred me to the original lady, who became right away VERY offensive. She did not admit to any mistakes, or apologize for any wrong doings, but turned it around blaming me that I stated the tenant would give authorization for any additional services done (although they have my card information on file). Her explanation was that the technician replaced the capacitor, he talked to the tenant and I needed to pay, that if I dont pay she would flag the account. Again, I told her you cant just do a service on the ** unit without talking to me first.She continued being very offensive and we didnt get anywhere. I asked for a supervisor, but she claimed he had left. Asked for supervisors name so I know who to ask for once he returns, she said she couldnt disclose this information. Very unfortunate, but I will definitely not seek anymore business with this company in the future and stay far away.

    I have been a customer of Houk AC for over 20 years and have spent close to $20K with three new systems and maintenance services. This summer, one of the ACs was not cooling and I called them to look at the unit. The tech told me that I needed refrigerant added which would cost ~$500. I paid ~$500. After he was done, he told me I needed to check the system for leaks. I asked him, why did he not tell me that before adding the refrigerant. He said he wanted to get the house cooled first. I asked him when the system could be checked, and he said that another tech has to be scheduled and it will cost me ~$279. I had a preventive maintenance check scheduled in the next 7 days. I asked him if the ** would catch the issue and he said it will because the pressure test would fail. The ** tech did not find any issue with this unit and found a capacitor on another unit that needed to be replaced. I specifically asked him if he performed the pressure test and he said everything passed except I needed to get the capacitor replaced. I paid ~$150 to get the capacitor replaced.Fast forward 5 days, and the repaired unit stopped cooling again. I called **** again and they sent a tech to check the unit out again and with the notes he had he did the leak check and found that there was a leak in the evaporator coil. I asked him about the cost and timeline to repair it. He said it may take up to a week to get the part. I asked him what I should do in the meantime. He said he could add refrigerant again for a cost of $400. I told him that was not fair, and he should add the refrigerant as a warranty from the previous refill. He told me to take it to the service manager. I called and spoke to the service manager. He said he is not going to change his mind and he is firm about charging me money again for the same job. I had no choice but to get it done. I paid $400 again. I believe the company should return $400 or return the money that I paid for preventive maintenance.

    I just had a most in pleasant experience with them. I am handicapped and my wife is a paraplegic. They came out to change a filter but would move a wheeled dolly and a small suit case to open up the area wher the staircase pulled down . I said ok Ill donut but he said its not his job . So I suggested he come back . He said ok but not this week maybe sometime next week. I no line her trust some one like this to even truly check out the inspection Ive already paid them to do. He practically ran away as fast as he coup . I trued cal king the company but their answering service wont let me even leave a message. I am highly disappointed in this company the only thing they seem to do best is bill me I would never trust them to come out again

    I recently had the unfortunate experience of hiring HOUK AC to service my air conditioning system, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed and frustrated I am with the level of service provided by this company.To begin with, the technician who arrived at my house was not only unprofessional but also extremely rude. His lack of respect and dismissive attitude towards my concerns left me feeling completely disrespected as a customer. It is unacceptable to treat paying customers in such a manner.Adding insult to injury, I was charged for the technician's visit, only to be told that I needed to pay an additional fee for them to test for a potential leak. It is beyond comprehension that a company would charge for a service call and then have the audacity to request additional payment for a basic diagnostic test. This is a clear example of deceptive practices and an attempt to squeeze more money out of unsuspecting customers.Furthermore, I deeply regret ever purchasing an air conditioning system from HOUK AC. If I had known about the poor quality of their services and the disrespectful behavior of their technicians, I would have chosen a different company altogether. I made a grave mistake by trusting them in the first place, and I urge others to learn from my experience and avoid making the same error.In conclusion, my encounter with **** AC was a complete disaster. The technician's rudeness, the deceptive billing practices, and my regrettable decision to purchase their system have made it abundantly clear that this is the worst AC company I have ever dealt with. I strongly advise against using their services unless you enjoy being treated poorly and throwing your money away.I sincerely hope that this review serves as a warning to potential customers.

    Terrible customer service! Cannot resolved problem/issues. Techs seems not experienced or know what theyre doing. Hard to secure appointments.

    Horrible company.. calling me last min to reschedule my appointment and my house had been cold since November 11 when I moved in and the lady got mad and hung up the phone becos Im mad and I was expressing my feelings without even cussing or anything ..they need to be out of business because I dont know how you run a company and only have one technician..this is sad and annoying because my house warranty is with them
