    I dropped my car off at Soddy Daisy Speed Shop 12/21/23. I was asked when I’d like to have it done. I said I’d like to have it done by spring. The mechanic said “ If I can’t have it done by then there’s something wrong.” I made a deposit of $1125 in hopes and trust they would get it done. I paid them over or close to $4000 and it is no where near being done. They didn’t finish installing the motor. One of the mechanics told me he was going to do the cut and tack new floor as a favor and I have been charged for it. They claimed it took 9 hours to remove the motor and transmission and another 9 hours to install the motor and transmission. I am a mechanic myself and any mechanic knows that it does not take that long and the motor and transmission is not even fully hooked up. I am not the only person that has had issues. Many people have brought their cars from Soddy Daisy Speed Shop to the current shop that I work at because they have been cheated. In short I understand that they did do work on my car however it is not $4000 worth of work.

    We are currently six month out on all work being performed at soddy Daisy speed shop and the customer was informed of this when he dropped his car off. We also informed the customer that we would do our best to work the car in as we could. The customer also signed a contract stating that work performed would be charged by the hour  and paid in full each week  

    The vehicle in question was in horrible shape when it arrived at the shop. It had multiple broken and missing bolts in areas that made the vehicle completely unsafe to operate or drive. Parts of the subframe had been cut out and were completely missing due to previous modifications. 

    the engine and transmission were removed and the safety concerns and leaks on the engine were addressed and fixed. And the engine and transmission were reinstalled. The customer provided a light weight wheel that would not work with his build. . We informed the customer that this modification would not work and this needed to changed before the engine could be completed. 
    The customer informed us that he had lost his job and could no longer continue the build at our shop. He also told one of my technicians that he had multiple cars in multiple shops and couldn’t afford to finish his build. The customer chose to pay his bill up to date and take his vehicle before it was finished. 
    After all of this happened it seems the customer has gotten a new job at another shop

    I am rejecting this response because: I understood that they were backed up 6 months but I paid $4000 in hopes that I could trust another combat vet like myself to do me right. However, you can see in the receipts that they charged me twice for transmission work. Any decent human being mechanic can look at the car and tell that there was not $4000 worth of work done the engine wasn’t even completely hooked up I’m only asking for a partial amount of my deposits back. If there is any integrity in the shop they will do right and not keep the money that I worked so hard to earn to finish this car. Also, I never said I had other cars in another shop. I trusted the Soddy Daisy Speed Shop and the current shop it is at said I was burned.
