On 09/26/2021 we booked the Sycamore Mansion from 09/22/22 to 09/26/22 over the phone with *** from the Cabin Rental Store. We provided credit card info and was told upon signing the rental agreement, we would be charged half of the rental costs in the amount of $4,375. Upon receiving the rental agreement we noticed that there was a clause that read, "Any function such as weddings, parties, receptions or any other must be pre-approved by owner.(no exceptions). If not approve you will be asked to leave and forfeit all monies paid." We planned on holding an intimate wedding reception at the cabin. We contacted **** before we signed the agreement to discuss our event and get it approved prior to signing the contract. We were told that there would be an additional charge of $1,000 and an additional $500 security deposit. The extra fees were out of our budget so we asked if they would be willing to waive it. **** said she would have to speak to the owner and would get back to us. A couple days passed and she advised that they would be willing to lower the fees to $500 with the additional $500 security deposit. We were grateful that they were willing to work with us. We asked **** to send us an updated contract confirming the approved reception and list the reduced event fees. We did not receive the updated contract. We reached out to **** a couple times by phone, text and email. We finally received a contract, however it did not mention the party was approved or the negotiated rates. We also noticed that our credit card was charged $4,375. The email we received on 09/26/2021 with the electronic rental agreement Reservation # XXXXX states; "Once we receive the contract we will charge your credit card for the first payment." However that was not the case. We were charged without signing a contract. We called **** to cancel the reservation and asked for a refund and they denied the full refund. We asked to speak with the owner but was told that is why they hired ****.
