I am rejecting this response because: the information provided by American General/Corebridge Direct was incomplete.  The company is, no doubt, well aware of the information requirements for effecting a transfer of an annuity from one financial organization to another.  My brokerage informed me that in addition to the small amount of information they provided, that they were also obligated and required to provide me:  Name of Product

    Issue Date
Total Value of the annuity (not just my portion)
    Estimated purchase payments
Amount surrendered to date (if any)
    Guaranteed minimum death benefit
    Cost basis
    My portion of the annuity
    How many beneficiaries were listed.

Once again, they've demonstrated a continuation of their efforts to obstruct and delay efforts to collect from them.  It seems this company is making every effort to cheat its customers and beneficiaries rather than to provide the services they contracted to provide.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 06/10/2025

I am rejecting this response because:  No correspondence from American General has been received, in any form, since 4/18/2025.  Correspondence received on 4/18/2025 was unsatisfactory as it failed to provide the requested information to which I am entitled by industry standards and statute.  American General is still refusing to provide information necessary to effect transfer of the annuity from American General to my brokerage (Ameriprise Financial Services) in violation of my statutory options regarding the anuity.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 06/24/2025

I am rejecting this response because:  American General Life simply provided a duplicate of their previous incomplete information regarding the annuity.  Curiously, but unsurprisingly, they failed to make any reference to their failur to process and pay my 4/29/2025 claim for the annuity.  Simply just another demonstration of their pattern of obstruction and delays.

My mother died 12/19/24. I received a letter and death claim forms from American General Life Insurance Company dated 1/28/25 notifying me that I am the/a beneficiary for a financial product (the forms suggest an annuity but does not so state. When I contacted their customer **********************, I was told I could not be provided any information due to privacy concerns. I was told to email a copy of her death certificate to their customer ********************** email, together with my request for information. I emailed them as directed and requested the information I need to move the annuity to my brokerage. As of 4/9/25, I've sent four requests for information, each accompanied by a copy of the death certificate. Each time they've failed to provide the requested information, stating only that my claim was incorrect or incomplete (I've yet to submit the claim as I don't have the information required from American General to do so. I don't wish to pay unnecessary taxes that could be deferred by moving the annuity to my brokerage. My brokerage is willing to accept the annuity, however, they cannot do so without being provided the information necessary to accept the transfer. *** has, with their latest two letters, sent a form asking me to authorize an unidentified person as my power of attorney. I'm very concerned as I've neither appointed such nor do I have any intention of doing so.

    Complaint: 23209382

I am rejecting this response because:  The response provided by Corebridge Direct/American General Life Insurance was merely a duplicate of their previous responses. Not only did it fail to provide the required information, it also stated, without justification, reason, or merit, that my claim was incomplete.  I have sent Corebridge Direct/American General Life Insurance, by registered mail on 7/7/2025, a final offer for them to settle their indebtedness to me as beneficiary of an annuity.

    Sincerely,

American General paid only $3000 of a $5000 life insurance policy. They wont or can't give me or the funeral home information as to why they shorted the lump sum payment by $2000. They say they put in a request for call back but no one ever calls. When I tell them I've already requested a call back I was told that those requests have to be approved before a claim specialist actually calls. My loved one purchased this policy in 1962, Paid way more in premiums than the policy is even worth. I have also filed a complaint with the **** of Insurance.

I will not accept the response until I actually hear from this company. Part of the complaint is their lack of communication and inability to properly explain their actions concerning this matter.

They are saying I have life insurance with them and it is with General Life. They have a policy number and other things on an invoice but I have never had insurance with them. They are asking for $202.76 for a payment but I don&#**;t have insurance with them.I would like for them to stop contacting me because I don&#**;t have insurance with them.
