My mother had an urostomy on May 16th in Knoxville, and was assigned Amedisys Home Health upon her release. Long story short, they "fired" a victim/patient due to the company's neglect, instead of taking responsibility for poor care. The nurses came once a week and did the bare minimum for my mother. The nurses informed her that she had to learn to change her appliance to be independent, but never once instructed her, physically helped her, and at some visits never even offered to help her. On June 29th, my mother's appliance was leaking and she called the office for nursing help. She called the office 3 times and her physical therapist also contacted the office on her behalf. No one returned her calls. I came home from work at 5pm to find my mother drenched in her own urine, trying to contain the leak with bath towels. My mother does not deserve this type of care! I called and complained and was told that it is best if "we part ways". So basically, they fired me after they left one of their elderly patients all day with no care or concern. Instead of admitting fault, they ignored the situation and neglected a patient, then they "fired" the victim. They should be rated a negative 100 for patient and family care. So sad and disappointing that they would treat people this way.
