I was seen at the Baptist Medical Group location located at ********************************************************************** on 6/13/23 for an ultrasound. A referral was submitted on my behalf from my primary provider (****************) on *********************** which provided authorization from Tricare Prime for the scan. I was also requested to provide insurance information upon arriving for the appointment which should have been in the system from a previous visit. As a military family, we relocated the following weekend to *****. I had received a bill in the mail for the visit. I contacted Baptist and initially was told that the insurance was not billed for the doctor portion of the bill as those are done separately. I provided an updated address and requested that Tricare prime be billed as there should have been no out of pocket expenses. I received another bill a few weeks later for the same amount $389. I contacted the billing department again and was told that the bill was processed through Tricare and Tricare was not paying it and I needed to pay the outstanding amount. I contacted the office on base in August 2023 that handles referrals and insurance processing (*********************). I was told that the claim had never been filed by Baptist. The representative from *********************** said she would contact Baptist and Tricare to ensure the claim was processed. Over the weekend, I received a statement dated 2/19/24 for the amount of $389. As we are coming up on a year of this unresolved issue, I do not want this to affect my credit score and need resolution as it appears to be an error caused by the billing department. This is not the first billing issue we have had with Baptist and seems to be a common occurrence. I am requesting my insurance be billed properly and billing department staff at this location be trained properly to prevent future errors.
