- Upon receipt of a consumer complaint, BBB of the Mid-South initiated an investigation into the business practices of Credit Guru of Memphis, a local company advertising credit repair services on their website and Facebook page. According to the complaint, the consumer paid in advance for credit repair services. It is illegal for a credit repair company to require payment before services are rendered. On July 11, 2019, BBB staff confirmed that the company was not registered with the State of TN to provide credit repair services.
BBB staff sent a letter to the company on July 12, 2019 by email which expressed our concerns and asked for a reply. No response was received. BBB staff attempted to call the company at the number listed on their website but the number was inactive. A second email was sent to the company on July 30, 2019 asking for a response and none was received.
