They installed our mini split system during a whole house remodel. The crew admitted that they’d never installed a mini split before but that they were newly minted hvac techs, but they’d never learned anything about these types. After two years of almost no functional air conditioning (95f inside in July) and three different other companies saying 1) they system is missing some major component and 2) we were over charged by at least $4000, and 3) another $3000 shelled out to these other companies trying to diagnose the problem I’m ready to just sell the house as is. I’ve now got mold in the interior walls because the condensation wasn’t draining and I’m broke. Who expects to waste $18k total on an hvac system for a 1200sq ft house and still be sweating and mopping up water and throwing away water damaged furniture from dripping units? And no, the filters aren’t dirty. Whenever I mention the name of the guy who priced it out before my ex signed, I see the other hvac guys exchange looks, tell me it’s “unfixable” and act like this man has special powers? Then I get ghosted. His name was Spears and he now has a company in his own name.
