I rented property ******************** I moved out in July 27, 2023. I have been in contact with rental city by email and phone calls in regards to my security deposit. I spoke with *** the property manager and everytime I get reassured my security deposit has been processed but I have yet to receive the security deposit back. State law says they have 30 days to return said deposit and they have yet to even do anything in regards to this issue. The home was available for rent within a week of me moving out. I keep getting the run around everytime I reach out they won't respond to emails and everytime I call they just tell me it's been processed. I need to know something.Business Response

Good afternoon, ******, I greatly apologize for this inconvenience on the timeliness of receiving your security deposit. I do feel as though we have rectified the situation now since we spoke on the phone. If that is not the case, please let me know, and I'll be happy to assist further. Thank you and it was a pleasure talking to you.

I've called numerous times about the leak in my hallway. I keep getting the same person who says they are sorry but obviously they aren't dealing with the problem. It has been 1 week and the leak keeps getting faster and faster. I'm beyond frustrated over this matter. It has now spread to a closet where I had a few belongings obviously damaged from the water. I'm tired of waking up in the middle of the night emptying buckets, I'm tired of hearing water drip, I'm tired of floor tiles sqishing under my feet, and I'm tired of worrying about my kids slipping and falling. This is unacceptable and I know whoever the owner is would not be living in these conditions. Seven, long days the company I work for a company that rents a commercial building from this company as well and when management calls to report an issue they are checking it out within 2 days, sometimes they come the same day. I've been looking for other rental properties but they own almost all off the area I currently live. I will NEVER rent from this company again. I had issues when I first moved in it took them over 2 weeks to resolve.Customer Answer

I told them my concern about mold growing since the stuff above had been wet for a week but they said it's just water mold it can't hurt ya we can spray it down with bleach. My floor tiles also had water underneath and basically they told me once it dries they will be alright. I'm no contractor but the nurse in me still worries about mold and I have 2 small children. Also that same area that was left open the wall is weak and nobody has mentioned replacing it. I haven't bent contacted directly from anyone from the company. The company I work for rents through the same company and my boss called her contact person and that seemed to get the ball rolling. I have been sending messages through her. My door doesn't lock anymore. The maintenance guy said he was coming back and that it needed a bolt. It also has huge dents in it that it didn't have before. I'm currently sleeping on the couch that I pushed to the door. This situation has been a nightmare and I shouldn't have to deal with this. Communication is key in customer service and it hasn't been priority neither has customer service.Business Response

This company is the worst rental company I have dealt with. They barely want to fix anything my air has gone out three times in the last month they attempted to fix it twice first time it worked for about 2 weeks the second time they so call fixed it the air worked one night and went out again that following morning. When they "fixed" it the second time it made my refrigerator and lights and my kitchen stop working. There are wires coming out of the wall in one of my bedrooms that I have complained about before. They are quick to harass you for the rent money but not too quick about fixing the problems in the apartment that they are supposed to. I have to go and buy an window unit for the apartment. When i first moved in the apartment in september the fridge didnt work i went two weeks without a fridge. the light in my bedrooms flickered on and off till the one in my bedroom stopped working completely.Business Response

Hello *******. I have read over your complaint and I cannot find any basis to this. You mentioned when you moved into your apartment in September, however, we were not managing this property in September of 2022. We started managing this property 4/1/2023, so any issues you had at move in, we were not responsible. I have also attached a report of your work orders that you have turned in since we have been managing the property. There's not one that has taken more than 4 days to complete. I have also attached your ledger for reference as to why they are being so persistent over the monies owed. I do see though that you have made a payment arrangement for 8/16/23 as well as you gave notice that you were moving out at the end of the month. With your rent being 3 months behind and all of your work orders being completed in a timely manner, I do not see where we are due to any type of refund to you. If you have other issues that you have not reported, it's important that you let us know about them so we can address them. Thank you.Initial Complaint

Christmas of 2021 my back porch froze over. Crestcore maintenance team came and broke it up with a shovel. Over the summer, due to them breaking the ice with a shovel, my porch has fallen apart. I contacted them to fix it, they came and screwed a piece of plywood over an already crumbling porch. Sometime in October or November the plywood became loose and since then the porch has fallen apart more and more everyday. I have contacted them to fix it multiple times within the past 2 months with no outcome. I and my neighbors have young kids and Im afraid one of them might fall through if not resolved soon.Business Response
Date: 12/09/2022
Good morning. We are very aware of this issue and we did place the plywood as a temporary fix only. We have already dispatched this issue to the sub vendor (not an employee of RentalCity) to repair this but we are at his mercy. We are also working on trying to find a different sub to potentially get to this quicker but we have not found that solution yet. We are actively working to get this completed ASAP.Initial Complaint

Good afternoon, ******* I apologize for the miscommunication about the application. I have attached the email where we explained that *** misspoke and gave you incorrect information. However, we did tell you that you had a negative rental history report because we use multiple avenues for rental background history other than the credit report. You do have a previous eviction on you, it is the same eviction that you were denied for from ***** that you provided in your picture that I have attached again. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you.Customer Answer

I currently rent from rental city. I moved into this house 3 weeks ago. last Wednesday on 8/24/22 the sewage started backing up into my toilets, bathtubs, sinks. they don't drain even when plunged. there is f**** in my tubs and it is now over flowing in my floor. I have called maintenance and left many messages, I have talked to to a person 3 times to make complaints and they still haven't came to fix the issue. we can't shower, wash our dishes . or use the bathroom. what can I do?Business Response

Good morning, *************** I do apologize for the time it has taken to rectify this issue. I have dug into this and it has been brought to my attention as of end of day yesterday, the issue is now resolved. We did have to wait on the city to do some work but per the tech's notes provided below, the issue is resolved. If this is not the case, please reach out to the office and let them know if you are still having issues.
Work completed
Worked- 8 hours 30 minutes- arrived on site and located no cleanout. Spoke with city and what I believed was a city cleanout was a main shut off for a fire hydrant. Arrived back on site and pulled both toilets and ran auger multiple times. Pulled wipes and tampons out of main line. Everything on property is now draining.Initial Complaint

I have been renting a property from a company called Rental City. The landlord will not come out and fix anything house has no air conditioning once ac unit went they promised to come back in 2weeks to put in new unit which was never done. It also has been raining in the home inside kitchen cabinets and air vents the came out and patched roof with flex seal and once it rained again, it began to rain in house again pictures have been sent to rental city but nothing further has been done. Bathroom flooring has been having weak spot in front of tub when maintenance came out the assets area and nothing was further done. When asked about fixing items. They continue to give the run around about fixing minor issues that have been going on with home since renting. They are demanding that we pay rent and applied late fees. Rent is always paid or when rent is paid is the only time they come out and do patch work. This is a continuing issue that needs to be addressed.Initial Complaint

I rent an apartment from **********-Rental City. Last winter an apartment above had a busted water pipe and the water ran down and flooded our apartment. ServPro came and set up 5 huge fans, two in LR ,two in kitchen and one in the entrance . They left them running for 5 days. We couldn't **** due to the two large fans in kitchen. Couldn't watch TV because of noise, couldn't sleep or entertain while the fans were here. We ordered carryout or dine out since we couldn't ****. When I got my electric **** it had increased about 100 dollars. I contacted ********** and they said they need a copy of my ****. I sent them a copy of my **** for the last year which showed it increased about 100 dollars the month they were drying out the apartment. They said they could only pay me 70 dollars which is a lot less than I had to pay so I refused. I tried contacting them to settle this matter several times and they will no longer respond to me concerning this matter.Business Response
Date: 08/08/2022
Good afternoon. Per the attached bills you supplied us with, your **** increased exactly $70 the next month from the fan usage and it is exactly $70 higher than the same month the previous year. However, I have reached out to the owner to find out if we can issue an additional credit due to you and your spouse having to eat out each of those nights from not being able to use your kitchen and he has agreed to give you an additional $100 credit. This will be a total of $170 credit. Please let me know if this is acceptable to you and we will process this credit on your ledger. Thank you!Customer Answer
