In 2010, I fell for a "too good to be true" sales pitch (offering a bonus!) from Estate Planning Enterprises, LLC after attending one of their frequent "free" lunches pitching a ******* Life Insurance long-term (15-year) Annuity to retirees, followed by a consultation at the office of Estate Planning Enterprises, LLC, during which I was assured and convinced by Mr. Ron W**** that I would be choosing the best retirement fund available. The W**** Motto was "None of my clients have ever lost money!". I dumped my entire IRA retirement savings into the 15-year ******* contract. ******* retrieved the bonus they gave me, by incorporating measures to yield less than 1% earnings to my account for the first year. As I write this, I am into year fourteen of my contract, and the average interest earned over these 14 years has been close to 2%, while the annual cost of living exceeded that. Midway into my contract, I learned that Estate Planning Enterprises was well aware that they had been selling were continuing to promote and sell a plan that had been outlawed in California after numerous lawsuits in which ******* had been sued and found guilty in various states for targeting senior citizens. When I confronted Mr. W**** about the lawsuits against *******, and the fact that I was aware that he continued to promote and sell the same plan, his explanation was that such lawsuits were common and should be ignored, not to worry. More recently, after I expressed my extreme dissatisfaction with Estate Planning Enterprises, Ltd. and the ******* contract, he told me that he was hurt that I had essentially called him a crook. (I never spoke that word.) Finally, two or three years ago, Mr. W**** stated that he was no longer selling the ******* annuity because of recent lower than expected returns. However, I have felt the need to warn others against falling for sales pitches promoting investments that offer bonuses or returns that seem "too good to be true.".

    Estate Planning Enterprises, LLC. Response

In response to *** *** review, our seminars are by invitation only. Our seminars include complimentary meals with no obligation whatsoever to the attendees. At the end of the seminar, attendees can set an appointment to meet with us in our office with no obligation or cost to discuss their personal situation. At no point in a seminar do we ever mention a company or product. It is illegal. *** * received an invitation, made a reservation, and attended our seminar. She then scheduled a consultation with me at my office to discuss her own situation. *** * made all her decisions on her own. *** * knew that we were (and still are) conservative retirement planners that only use safe money options. And *** * is correct - none of our clients have ever lost a dime of their money. *** * communicated to me that the safety of her retirement funds was of most importance to her. I recommended the ******* ******** fixed index annuity as a good option for safety and growth. Her deposit came with an upfront bonus. Bonuses are common across financial markets. Most life insurance companies can offer the bonus along with banks, credit unions, and some brokerage firms. The bonus can be especially important in long-term retirement planning. The bonus can reimburse market losses or jump start a long-term plan. *** *** remarks about ******* ******** are not accurate. Lawsuits have been filed in California against many insurance companies. ******* ******** operates in California. ******* ******** is rated as one of the top 50 life insurance companies in the U.S. and has an A+ (superior rating) from A.M. BEST. The lawsuit in question did not pertain to *** * or any of our other clients. We continue to represent ******* ******** as we have since 2001. ******* is competitive in the new money marketplace. Most insurance companies are showing lower earnings for older plans going back 10-12 years. As an independent company, we work for clients, and not any insurance company. Our goal is to always keep our client's money safe and provide the greatest upside earnings potential we can find. Finally, I must clear up *** *** comment, indicating that I had been dishonest with her. My relationship with *** * and her late husband goes back long before she became a client, as we attended the same church. Because of this prior relationship, I was indeed upset by her words, and am equally disturbed by the misleading tone threaded throughout her written review of a company that I have strived to build with integrity and honor for almost sixty years. - Ron W****
