I submitted a white dinner Jacket to Crazy cleaners on May 7th to be dry cleaned. When I received it on May 10th, the lining was torn and ripped. I asked for it to be repaired and the lady working said, She is the manager, and she has discussed with the owner, and they will not repair it. She offered and gave me my money back but would not give me the owners name. I looked up the owner's name on the internet, ****** *****. and called three times and left messages for him to call me. I was placed on hold for an hour on May 13, I finally hung up . The business unreasonable willingness to correct his problem is absurd. Taking a customers' clothes and tearing them up in the cleaning process is bad business. They should at least repair the torn garment that they alone ripped.

Please see my detailed explanation below regarding the complaint from Mr. ******************** is unfortunate to learn that Mr. ***** was dissatisfied with the outcome of cleaning his jacket, specifically noting the deterioration of the lining. As he mentioned, and as is often the case with older garments, the lining had likely become fragile due to age and possibly dry rot. Similar to how aged and improperly stored curtains can show damage upon cleaning, such deterioration in older linings can become apparent during the dry cleaning process, regardless of the cleaning service utilized.

I want to emphasize that the lining is not torn, but rather deteriorated, indicating a pre-existing condition rather than damage inflicted during our cleaning. It is important to note that if our cleaning process had caused damage, the exterior of the jacket would have likely shown signs of wear or harm as well.

At Crazy Cleanerz, we pride ourselves on our professionalism and would certainly take responsibility for any damage that occurred due to an error on our part. We regret that Mr. ***** believes he might have achieved a different result elsewhere; however, the natural breakdown of aged materials is a common occurrence in dry cleaning.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope this explanation clarifies the situation.

      Best regards,

I am rejecting this response because: The garment was not deteriorated or torn when it was given to Crazy Cleaners for service. It has been cleaned at other cleaners with no issues. If Crazy cleaners only cleaned new garments they would not be in business. There is no posting of a warning of the age a garment should be to be cleaned. The fact is it was not torn when they received the garment  and should not be ripped or torn when it is returned. Crazy Cleaners is wholly responsible for the garment in their care when they accept it from the customer. I do not accept the brazen attitude of too bad; it must have been old.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *****

      Business Response

      Date: 06/12/2025

      Dear ****** *****,

We understand how upsetting it can be to discover damage, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide some clarity. The issue is consistent with what is known as dry rota deterioration of fabric fibers due to prolonged exposure to moisture, heat, mildew, or improper storage conditions over time.

      What is Dry Rot?

Dry rot in clothing is a form of fabric decay where the material becomes brittle, thin, or discolored, and in some cases may tear or fall apart easily. This process typically occurs before the garment is cleaned and may not be immediately visible.

Unfortunately, the dry cleaning processwhile gentlecan sometimes expose or accelerate the visibility of this pre-existing damage as the garment is handled.

      Common Causes Include:
Age of the garment (especially natural fibers like cotton, linen, or silk)
Long-term exposure to humidity or damp environments
Storage in plastic bags, unventilated spaces, or direct sunlight
Exposure to perspiration, body oils, or substances like perfumes or deodorants over time

We take great care in the handling of all garments, and while our cleaning process is designed to preserve and restore fabrics, it may not prevent the effects of long-term deterioration.

Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to explain in further detail.

On 08/15/2024, I dropped off 3 items for dry cleaning. On Friday, August 16, 2024, I received a call from the manager stating one of my dresses experienced some color bleeding from a black tie attached to the dress. After speaking to the manger, he proposed I could either return the dress to the manufacturer or allow them to attempt to remove the bleeding with no guarantee. I advised, I would speak to him when I return to pick up my items. Monday, August 19th, I returned to pick up the items, the manager advised he would return my dry cleaning payment only. It would be my responsibility to return the dress to the manufacturer. The manager stated it was not their fault the bleeding occurred even though they were the professionals. He would not allow or give me any information on speaking to a higher up or owner. I am unsatisfied with the solution and would like them to pay for the dress that was ruined.

      Business Response

Crazy Cleanerz followed the care label attached to the garment. We suggested returning to retail store for a refund. The tie contained fugitive dyes that were still in the material. This is a manufactures defect. We offered to try to remove the dye, but the customer did not want us to attempt. ********************** suggest to return garment or contact manufacturer. FTC rules states that the garment must have a safe method of cleaning on the care label.

On March 23, 2024, I picked up my shirt from Crazy Cleanerz and the shoulder area was damaged. The manager offered no compensation for the damage, just free cleaning for the shirt. She also refused to give me her notes in her hand detailing the damage. She stated shirts are not expected to last more than a year and the shirt is at least two years old. There are no signs in the facility stating they are not responsible for damage caused to items during the cleaning process. The current replacement cost of the shirt at ******************* is $50 to $60.

Attached is the **** (***************** Standard) fair claims guide. This guide is accepted by the BBB as well as Insurance companies across the **. Just as we have life spans, textiles also have life spans. In ******** claims guide ********************* shirt is valued between 10-15% of original cost which is between $5-$7.50. We don't have any processes which would cause the thread breakage shown in the pictures. Many times these weaknesses show up during the wash cycle. This is the reason we brought this straight to your attention.  Perhaps a seatbelt shoulder strap after many times of wearing???

***************** has been a great customer since 3/24/2006.

********************** would like to offer a $20 courtesy credit to his account which is 40% of the original value of the shirt. ***************** has gotten more than two years wear on this shirt. I hope this satisfies his complaint.

Today, I picked up my dry cleaning and when I opened it, one of my dresses (brand new, only worn once) was damaged at the shoulders on both sides. They said the garment was weak therefore they are not responsible and refuse to either fix or replace my $80 dress!

      Business Response

      Date: 11/09/2022

We are very sorry that ***************************** had a bad experience with her new dress. Cleaning a garment according to the manufactures recommended instructions is what the *** requires. If the garment was unable to withstand the cleaning process then we are not responsible. ****************** stating the garment was "damaged in both shoulders" shows a manufacturer defect or an un-proper fitted garment. Our process could not possibly damaged both shoulders on her garment and nothing else. If Crazy Cleanerz would have had a mechanical breakdown 60 pounds of clothing would have been damaged. Once again, we are very sorry that ****************** had a bad experience.

I am rejecting this response because: their process is not fail safe. Ive had buttons to be removed during their cleaning process where they have had to make the repairs.

I just feel like this is more costly than a button and they dont want to go through any type of claims process to replace or repair my damaged item.

The issue was non existent until THEY cleaned my garment, only then was the garment damaged, AFTER they cleaned it. So either repair the garment or replace it. Because I didnt damage it, THEY did. And I didnt buy it damaged so its NOT the clothing manufacturers fault!

JUST BECAUSE OTHER CLOTHES DIDNT MIRROR THE DAMAGE DONE TO MY GARMENT DOESNT MEAN THAT DURING THEIR PROCESS, MY GARMENT WASNT DAMAGED WHEN THEYVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IS CLEARLY WAS!

      Sincerely,

Crazy Cleanerz has moved their location down the street to ************************************************************************* They DO NOT stand by their services. If they damage your items they WILL NOT accept responsibility. I dropped my clothes off on 9-6-22 to be dry cleaned and picked them up on 9-9-22. I looked at my clothes before I left the cleaners and noticed how they faded my black skirt to a stone washed color with light colored streaks.I immediately asked for a manager which was the same middle aged, white, tall, thin build , male that wore eyeglasses that I dropped my clothes off to on 9-6-22. I addressed the issue and was told that it was the fault of the manufacturer that made the skirt. And they were responsible for the damage ?? I was speechless to say the least. So, my skirt was NEW with no damage when I paid and left it to be cleaned.I picked it up with no mention of the damaged .It was as if they didnt want me to see it because it was between my other items. I asked the male, Do they not notify their customers of damage items? He said no. I asked him were they going to repay me for the Damage he instructed me to take it up with the store I purchased it from. He stated, Its a manufacturer issue. I told him I was a long time customer and was appalled be his awful customer service. Not once did he say I will reimburse you. He also went as far to suggest I go to another cleaners and see what they say what happened. This is not acceptable at all. Looking at the reviews today I see that I am not the only customer that this has happened to at **********************. This is obvious their normal poor customer service. This type of customer service should not be tolerated and should pay for the damage they cause.

Attached is a published document describing the problem. Unfortunately this is a manufacturer defect. DLI Textile Analyst ***************** wrote this bulletin in 2019. FTC requires manufacture to put proper labels in garments. I hope this information helps the customer in returning garment to the retailer.

      What Is The Problem?
After cleaning, cotton & cotton blend denim fabric can show dye fading and/or streaks. Usually, this dye fading is noted in dark blue or black denim **** pants, but it is sometimes seen in other colors as well as on other denim fashions such as **** jackets, vests, shirts, etc.
      What Does It Look Like?
The overall color is dull and frosted with extensive areas that look bleached out on edges, double thick seams and wear areas. Also, chalky irregular faded streaks will many times appear.
      What Caused It?
The crocking or rubbing off of the surface color begins from abrasion during wear, but is accentuated by later cleaning because the dyes do not properly penetrate the yarns. This type of dye failure can occur in drycleaning or washing or both depending on the solubility of the dyestuff. Such objectionable dye loss and streaks could show up in a short period of use, even after the initial cleaning, or it may appear later with repeated wear and care.
      Can It Be Prevented?
Some color loss and frosting is to be expected on most denim fabric from normal wear and care, but drastic dye fading and streaks should not occur. Excessive adverse color failure can only be controlled by better dye application in the original dyeing process by the manufacturer.
      Who Is Responsible?
When the manufacturers indicated care instruction is followed and denim still shows objectionable dye disturbance, the manufacturer that originally dyed the fabric must be held responsible.
      Is There A Remedy?
Unfortunately, there is no remedy that will restore faded denim fabric to a like-new condition.

I am rejecting this response because:

I left my skirt in the care or the cleaners and regardless of what they say the manufacture did not dry clean it . And the cleaners did not refund me my payment for the dry cleaning nor did he offer any form of compensation or apologizes .  As a long time customer I dont feel like I was treated fairly.
