Dear Recipient,I have been a faithful member of Farm Bureau Insurance for over 35 years, with coverage that includes my home, car, and medical insurance. I am writing to formally express my deep concerns regarding the unexpected cancellation of my homeowner's insurance and the lack of professional communication and interactions I experienced while trying to resolve this matter.A few weeks ago, I contacted Farm Bureau to confirm the due date for my home insurance payment. The front desk informed me that my payment was due on March 8th. On March 7th, I called to make the payment, but after being placed on hold, my call was dropped. When I called back, I was told that I needed to speak with ** *******, but no explanation was provided. Since Al was unavailable at the time, I was assured that he would return my call. However, it was two hours later when I received a call from ******, who informed mewithout any prior noticethat my homeowner's insurance had been *********** no point before this conversation had I received any communication regarding a pending cancellation, and I was not informed of this when I initially inquired about my payment due date. Given the severity of this situation, I requested a face-to-face meeting with the president and was scheduled for Monday, March 10th, at 9:00 a.m.When I arrived at the office, the front desk informed me that ** ******* would be with me shortly. However, when he came to the lobby, he did not acknowledge me. I greeted him and followed him to his office. Upon entering, he sat at his desk in complete silence, without offering any greeting or explanation. His lack of professionalism was both shocking, appalling, and unacceptable.Sincerely,******* **********-****** ************Business Response

We canceled our policy with the Tennessee Farm Bureau when we moved to ******* in 2021. Come to find out we continued to get charged a membership fee for the past 4 years. I contacted the main office and was told to call the local branch. I spoke with the local branch and was told it would be handled and someone would follow up. 2 Months passed, and I heard nothing, so I called again 2 weeks ago. Again, I've heard nothing back. This is an unacceptable business practice; from the look of it, I'm not the only one.Business Response

*****-
Thank you for forwarding the complaint - we have done a little research and I believe the situation has been resolved, but let me provide you what is known at present. First, and I realize there's not great understanding on the item- but the membership item is actually not one that's handled by Farm Bureau Insurance- we are separate (but related) entity from a organizational perspective. Obviously we work hand in hand, and to the consumer they receive service for each at our local county Farm Bureaus, so I only point that out to say that my response is actually on behalf of the **************** Bureau------but we have researched this complaint collectively, so I want to provide you a summary of what has transpired since becoming involved with the complaint so that you can let the customer know the result of your file (if for YOUR purpose, you would like to redirect the complaint to the Farm Bureau organization directly please let me know and I can alternatively give you the contact information- although the response would be the same as below):The **************** Bureau has processed the $120 refund as requested and it is being mailed to the customer as per their request. The membership agreement was on a recurring draft, which has been stopped moving forward, and the membership is being released as requested.
Many thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I received a letter from Farm Bureau stating a refund check issued to my husband back in November 2020 hadnt been cashed. I had to contact them to inform them my husband passed way in September of 2021, and provided a copy of the death certificate. The check was only issued in my husbands name, even though the policy for which it was refunded was for our homeowners insurance which was in both our names. The money is legally mine. I was told by two different people that the death certificate should be enough for them to reissue the check in my name. The ***************************** is now requiring I provide my husbands last will and testament. He was 17 days from his 41st birthday when he died of covid; he didnt have a will. Now theyre saying I probably wont hear anything until later this week. That money is not only mine, but its been just sitting there for nearly 4 years, probably collecting interest, and now they wont reissue the check to me. I should also point out that I do have current life/home/auto policies with them. This worries me because Im afraid my boys will have to jump through hoops and ladders to get my life insurance when I die. No telling how many people have had issues like this with their company.Business Response

Farm Bureau Home Ins. Refusing to replace my roof. Been paying insurance since 2002 when I moved in the house. Has a leak in the bathroom and half the front of my house has wood rot from the roof and have many missing shingles. Didnt send an adjuster out because he said there was an exclusion on the house in 2015. Theyre not showing Good Faith long as Ive been paying premiums. All the houses in the neighborhood have a new roof because of roof damage. All built the same time. Not being treated fair, Ive paid premiums to fix my problems.Business Response

Thank you for your outreach. We have additionally received this complaint via the ************* of ******** and Insurance and will be responding in more detail to this matter via the Department's complaint process whereby we have attached more specific information that should document and address this topic. One note, the files attached to this BBB complaint do not seem to be the ones that were intended for this complaint (it's an application for a cosmetology license and a screenshot of a text message that doesn't seem related to this matter)- if there are additional files that were intended, please let us know.
Many thanks.

I had auto insurance with farmers insurance. I was sent a notice stating my policy would be cancelled on March 15, 2024. I allowed them to cancel and obtained new auto insurance from another company on March 16, 2024. I have now received a collections notice for $352 stating auto coverage from April 12, 2024 through today May 11, 2024. My auto insurance from March 16 through now is and was through another insurance carrier. They are and we're no longer my auto insurance carrierBusiness Response

We have researched this customer by name and phone number and do not think it was intended for Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Company (we are more commonly known as Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee). In his complaint he references Farmers Insurance which we believe him to be referencing Farmers (not us). See www.farmers.com Please let us know if that's incorrect of if there is any additional information we can reference.

Im calling about claim #**********. I was hit head on by their insurer whom crossed the median and hit me. My car is totaled and the insurance company is now trying to avoid liability by using the medical emergency excuse when there's nothing on the police report that says that the driver had an emergency while driving. Theyre writing medical emergency all over the claim notes without having evidence of such. This is bad faith and avoidance. The driver is not answering calls now. The at fault insurance company needs to accept full liability for the accident. I will also be forced to report the agents involved and agency to the state board.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out- the claim number the individual provided does not match any claim number format for our systems. I also searched ******************** by name, and phone number and could not locate anything on our side. I did pull up the police report which she provided, and believe I have found the issue. On that report, it lists "Farmers Exchange" as the provider which I believe is a company operated by Farmers Insurance Group whereas our company is not operating under any such moniker (Tennessee Farmers Insurance Company is more commonly known as Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee). I hope that helps- I would see farmers.com for a possible contact info.

I am writing this on behalf of my mother, who is in her Seventies and does not do well with online services. Farm bureau has a website that shows 24/7 customer service, but also on the same website just below that statement, it shows hours of operation that are not 24/7 and the same phone number. You call and never get anyone, waiting for hours on end (3 hours for me, 2 for my wife on separate occasions) without anyone answering. I call the local office to leave a voice message after hours and no voicemail set up. What business does not have an after hours voice mail set up to help customers. Their customer service and their ********************** reps do not seem to be there for their clients, but instead for the paycheck. Poor business skills and customer supportBusiness Response

Thank you for reaching out- we certainly did have an influx of calls from the storm event that occurred the weekend of 3/3/2023- and the vendor that assists us in taking claims over the weekend time frame was simply overwhelmed with calls. While it will not change anything about the hold times ********************** experienced on the subsequent weekend, this event has created a conversation internally regarding other options we may take to address this concern moving forward. I do notice where ********************** was able to file her claim with us early on Monday morning through one of our local agents. Her adjuster has been assigned and in contact with her since the BBB complaint was received and has a scheduled time for inspection of the property, but if for any reason ********************** has any problems that need to be addressed at this point, she is more than welcome to reach out to our Regional ************************************************* ******* ************; ************************* While he's not the individual adjuster working her claim, he could certainly coordinate any necessary communication or coordination. Many thanks.

My wife was in an accident on 12/16/2022. The other motorist was at fault but didn't have insurance. We filed a claim with Farmers Insurance claim number 7005437239-1. We received a vehicle valuation, and I sent a counter several days later. After I sent the counter, they rejected it and cancelled the rental car in what appears to be an effort to pressure us into accepting their offer. After confronting the Farmers Insurance agent about this and explaining that I was going to get my attorney involved if they were going to utilize this tactic they renewed the rental car. I continued to ask about the "Condition" line item in the comparable vehicles valuation in which $1598 was deducted. The insurance agent has explained this in 2 separate ways, both of which contradict what is explained on the CCC report. After, I called another agent back to let him know that we were planning on filing a bodily injury claim as he had asked a couple of days prior. When I informed him of our intent, the agent explained to me that he saw this as just a money grab, and that people like me are why insurance costs so much. He went on to question whether my wife was injured and to say that he thought I was using the bodily injury to supplement the vehicle assessment, which I informed him was false.I have never been treated as unprofessionally as I have been during this issue. My wife is hurt, our car is gone, and the agents that are supposed to represent my insurance have been treating us very poorly.Business Response

Please advise if you have any other information that *** help determine if this indeed belongs to Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee.

We are nearly at four full weeks since this claim was filed and I still have no idea if it will be approved for repairs. My vehicle sits at a dealership and I continue to pay for a rental out of pocket. Not anyone is communicating critical information to me. Aside from the claims adjuster, I have contacted both supervisors in the claims department as well as the branch manager.
I have paid this company tens of thousands of dollars in premiums over the years and cannot even get a return phone call, text or email. Why should anyone be expected to pay money as a customer and be required to do their job for them?
This is easily one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had and I will be terminating my coverage as soon as this living nightmare is over.
I can provide specific names and phone numbers if necessary. I can also provide supporting documents going request and I will need to know exactly what is required.Business Response
