I had a solar panel system installed through Design1 Group, LLC and the system is not working and they don't answer any phone calls to try and resolve the situation. The electrical installer who installed the system is no longer in business. I am still paying $186 dollars a month for a system that is not working. I called Enphase who makes the equipment and they told me I have to get in contact with the installer and t he maintainer for the system who is Design1 Group.Initial Complaint

We sign the contract to purchase the solar panels on April 28,2023. We called them 6 months later to report that it was not saving us money, that we were paying a $315. monthly payment and large electric bills too. We were informed that the savings was based on a year of performance that we would have to call back at the years end. When the years end and I got all my electrical statements and proof , I called back and never got and answer on the phone.. I also had ***** **** whom sold them to us cell number and I left messages on it and he never replied at all. Everything ***** had told us was a lie . I took notes when we were dealing with him and still have them today. We had to wait the year is why we haven'' filed this before now. I have file a complaint with Attorney Generals office on 11-3-2024. I have called and called them been assigned a complaint number 972388 and Carlos as my person on my case. His number is 804-786-1142 and I am yet to hear from him. I have left numerous phone messages , someone in complaint department called 1-8-2025 and said they had sent him a email to respond to me. There contract said it would save me 73 percent , ***** said our Bill would never be over $50.. My year of bills shows a 27% savings and I paid 76 % plus my $315. a month solar payment bill. They convinced us that what we would be paying electric would about make our payment for the panels not both. We draw Social Security and have been had. We google and went to try to find this company and they had a gate across to the parking lot. The company Enphase that monitors the panel says when checking the panels is not near enough to cover the bill. They strategy in which there set up is incorrect also. They need to be made to comeback and add enough and in correct the problem or refund our money.. payment of $14,468.70 due that is by the 12 of this month. Solar panel contract was signed on 6/23/2022. Solar panels were not installed on the home until October 2022. We gave the panels 1 whole year before deciding to contact the company. Last year we attempted to conact the company and was unable to get ahold of them. My husband, **** ** ***** *** has been through this process of contacting the BBB and the Attorney General. He also contacted Mosaic, which is whom the loan is through for the panels. Nothing has been resolved. Solar panels installed on my home and are not working per the contract with the company.
Solar panels were installed by the company without the permits needed to install them on my home which under the contract section, SCOPE OF WORK: D1G will coordinate the issuance of necessary permits, payment of permit application fees and scheduling of any inspections required by Customer's municipality
Solar Panel company did not reach out to our electrical provider and state utilities commission as stated in the contract.
Solar panel company has multiple locations and we have reached out multiple times without a response.
I am paying for solar panels and my electric bill has actually increased due to the panels not working properly.
I have given the company plenty of time to resolve the issue and have not been able to do so and now I am continuing to pay my loan for solar panels that do not work and I have to pay an electric bill in full, which again has not decreased at all.Initial Complaint

I have tried to reach out to this company multiple times. My emails are not sending to couple people I have spoke to in the past, so not sure if people no longer work there or I’ve been blocked which I have been ghosted several times throughout this process. Here is what needs resolved.
1) I have made my payment to you guys this entire time even when you didn’t even start working on my house. It has been 2 years and I still have not received my rebate! July 2023 I was told could not cut checks till September 2023 and I would be the first to get mine and something extra for my troubles. It’s September 2024! I make my payments so I sure get mine. I am asking for 10% at this time.
2) I would like the inspection report, my township sent me a letter stating that to there knowledge it has not been inspected and I could get find. This letter is from May but haven’t been able to get ahold of anyone. If inspection has been completed also send copy to my township.Initial Complaint

Had solar installed by this company and now that we need to replace our roof I cannot get a response from anyone. We were informed that D1G would handle removal and reinstallation in the event our roof needed repairs and were promised a warranty on the solar panels. We had panels installed in December of 2019. The salesperson promised us that with the package we purchased we would no longer have an electric bill and could potentially receive a check each month from the power company. This never happened. We saved maybe $25-$50 a month on our electric bill WHEN all the panels work. They did come out and add more panels but it didn’t help as the breaker for half the panels constantly trips. We never have all the panels working at the same time. One technician said the entire system needs to be reworked because the didn’t install the correct gauge cable. We no longer receive emails or calls back. The email addresses we had come back undeliverable. We just want the return we were promised when we purchased from this company.Initial Complaint

We purchased solar package from Design 1 solar about five Years ago, Almost immediately they put the solar panels on, and our hot water heater was installed. about a year and a half later we started having problems with our hot water heater. We contacted the company. They said they would send someone out. They came out look’d at it oh we don’t have the part they had to order it, a week went by called him back. They had ordered it and it is six weeks out. six weeks came still hadn’t heard anything. We called them. They scheduled somebody to come out. The person never came, so we called back. No answer or call back for a while, finall awhile had went by we tried again got an answer, the part never came in story and they are going to put extra panels on our roof to make up for it. OK that was fine. They came out put 2 panels on the roof , we asked about the hot water heater how’s it going to be fixed because it’s still having issues. They messed around with it came back up said they fixed it, not! The same day hot water heater still not working. Try to get in touch by calling no answer, about a month or two later when it finally rained heavy, we realized our roof was leaking. Exactly where the 2 new solar panels were added, we try to contact them Again, No answer. So my husband went out and bought pressure, relief valve actually 3 now, We have drained the hot water heater flushed it, didn’t work still have an issues with it to this day. Our roof is still leaking. Our insurance will not cover. it was not due to natural disaster occurrence it was due to the fault of workers. The insurance company said it would be up to Design 1 solar to fix, so we tried to contact Design 1 again only to realize they are no longer in business. No phones work. Now we’re stuck paying for the solar panel package a roof, a hot water heater and all the damage that it’s caused. We are a family of 5 we cannot afford it, we just do not know what to do, we are worried about losing things.Initial Complaint

I found out that my home required more panels than what was decided on by Design 1 Solar. The panels were installed on the dark side of my home limiting the amount of daily energy created. My home actually required 28 panels instead of the 14 installed. The photo attached was where my panels were supposed to be installed. They were installed on the back side roof of my home. We were told they would repair the system if needed . And we are supposed to have a 25 year warranty!
