I ordered 5 bare root corkscrew willow trees from this nursery on April 5, 2025. They were delivered April 30, 2025, they were not as advertised and the trees (not even sure I would call them that, no branches very little root system). All five trees were planted within the instructed time in packaging. These trees all turned black within the first week of planting. I feel like I was duped.Initial Complaint

Orders Order #********** Confirmed Dec 28, 2024, I bought 8 trees from this company on Dec, 28 2024. I have still to the date of this complaint, not received the trees. I have had many emails with this company saying they would ship soon. The original date was April, 2025. Still no trees. I asked to cancel and they declined to cancel or refund my money saying the trees were dug. This was also in april. They do not respond to my emails and do not answer their phones.Initial Complaint

On April 4, 2025 I purchased 51 units each of two types of plants for a total of 102 plants.
(1) The business advertised that these plants would arrive in mid-April. The business did not honor their word. The plants did not arrive until May 12.
(2) The business did not fulfill the order. Rather than send 51 of each item. the business sent approximately 30 of each item. I say approximately because I am rounding *up* to the tens place.
(3) On May 20, I contacted the business and informed them of the unfulfilled order. They declared that I (i) must send them a photo of the plants that I received and that (ii) I needed to have contacted them no later than 24 hours after delivery. Their return policy is designed to shift liability from the seller to the buyer. Their return policy is absurd.
One can view on BBB that this business has many unanswered complaints and unresolved complaints.Initial Complaint

My June 2024 orders were my first with TN Nursery. Three orders for some 40 plants. Arrived looking dead. Contacted them. Told, "If anything planted below the surface of the soil is planted and temperatures are above 70 degrees, 1-5% may come in that spring or summer, but the majority of those will all come in the following spring. Please wait until your other plants come up and give your new plants a couple of extra weeks before you file a claim."
Filed a claim April 2025. Told to send pictures. I did. Today, claim denied because pictures did not show roots. I threw them in my composter after taking the pictures that I sent in April 2025 to the not-working Jotform claim form and in May 2025 to customer service - multiple times.
As I wrote to "Felicia", my June 2024 orders were my first with TN Nursery. I didn't go through the effort of emailing multiple times last year, making bogus plant labels, sending more pics, and debating with her just to get free plants. I wouldn't have gone through this hassle if I wasn't out the cash AND plants AND a year AND getting their runaround. All I wanted was for TN Nursery to live up to its guarantee: "If your plants don't thrive, we'll replace them." "Our family-owned nursery team works hard to ensure your satisfaction." Rather, they work hard to deny living up to their word.Customer Answer

There is no statement on their warranty page *****************************************) concerning photographs as their representative replied via email May 16, 2025. Rather, on their claim filing page (********************************************), they state: "If your plants are not trees or shrubs and don’t have a trunk but grow beneath the soil, you can’t do a scratch test. Instead, dig them up, break the roots, and send us photos to confirm if they’re dead."
There were no roots to photograph. In this case, the plants were purchased 11 months earlier and decomposed in their containers. What non-shrub/tree plant DOESN'T decompose after 11 months?
I contend that is the business's strategy - give customers the runaround. Tell them to wait until the following spring to ensure enough time elapses so no roots remains. Then, tell them to send photos. What inert plants are going to survive in soil without decomposing? None.
They advertise, "One Year Guarantee. If your plants don't thrive, we'll replace them." False statement.

I originally placed an order( ******** )on March 3. Multiple forms of communication were ignored and parts of my order are still missing. I requested a refund, which has been denied. Despite most of my order being poor quality, I am only asking for the missing portion (29.99 plus tax) to be refunded.Initial Complaint

In Jan 2025 I ordered quantity 2 Chinese Snowball Bushes from this business. Business stated that plants, bare root, would be in a dormant state. The plants were received in Mid Feb 2025. I planted the plants, together with a Snowball bush purchased from ******. All three were in close proximity to each other in a newly prepared bed.
After 6 weeks of regular watering and in day temperatures in mid 70's there was no sign of life from the TN plants whereas the ****** plant had several branches and multiple leaves.
I contacted the business and advised that I believed the plants to be dead. I advised that I could return them for their inspection. I forwarded pictures of the two TN plants and the ****** plant. A couple of days later I received a curt response from the business. "You must perform a scratch test" Not knowing what a scratch test was I requested info. on how to perform that test and what to look for.
After several days with no response I searched Google for information. " Cut a sliver of bark from the plant and look for light colored or green inners"
I performed as per those instructions. The wood under the missing barks was dark brown, approaching black. According to google those plants were dead. I advised TN of that and also removed them from the ground. At that time Idisposed of them but subsequently saved them. I advised TN that I would be filing a complaint. I have heard no more.Initial Complaint

On January 28,2025, I purchase plants for $74,27, to be delivered in the spring. On February 4, I cancelled this order. They agreed to cancel and refund $74.27. I have contacted then by email two times, and still have not received the refund.Initial Complaint

I purchased the plant Hamamelis virginiana from this retailer as a dormant plant. The plant is now old enough to bloom and does not look correct for the species purchased. I have confirmed through several reputable gardeners and Master Gardeners the plant I received is Hamamelis vernalis, which I did not want nor purchase. Customer service “lost” my emails with the flower photos, did not respond to me, and after a phone call, decided without documented evidence or explanation that they had sent me the correct species. The species I ordered blooms in the fall, not in March, and has yellow flowers, not orange. This company misrepresented what they sold and refuses to make it right.Initial Complaint

2-10-25 order with TN Nursery was placed.
2-12-25 order delivered
2-13-25: I sent an email to the company that not all of my trees I purchased and ordered are in the box. They responded back to send a picture. I sent pictures and emails. Today is 2-25-25 and the last email I received from them is they can only fix this within 24 hours from delivery in which I did.Customer Answer

Ordered plants, took 3 weeks for them to ship. Tried to cancel and was not able to. Multiple attempts to contact business to see what order status was. Told that they could not give me and update as to when they would ship. When items finally did ship, I could not plant them as the ground was frozen. Order was refused and sent back to business within 2 days and they refuse to give a refund. There are multiple other complaints against this company and they are shady.
