In early January of 2024 we purchased a ************ semi tractor from this business that has been nothing but a lemon from the beginning. I have not been able to use it for more than 200 miles of my own personal use. The initial repairs that were necessary to even make the engine run and operate properly totaled over $15000. Then came the transmission repairs to make that part of the unit function, which was covered under manufacturers warranty. Then came the engine starting issue which totals over $4000. All totaled up these repairs are almost 25% of the purchase price of the unit, which by most people would be considered a lemon. In summary, the dealer has sold me a lemon vehicle, has helped out $3000 of a bill that I shouldn't have to be paying at all to begin with. "sold as is, no warranty" or not, the dealer sold me a semi truck that was no road worthy.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/08/2024

    The 2020 F*********** ******** **** ****************** was
purchased on 1/25/24. On 1/29/24 the customer took the truck to a ************ dealer to have computer parameters adjusted to their preferred settings and
other preventative maintenance. While this work was being done, the service
tech noticed there was “fuel in the coolant/coolant in the fuel”. At this
point, the customer contacted Peterson Motors to notify us of what their ************ dealer found. Peterson Motors responded that we were aware of that
condition on the truck but believed the issue was resolved due to the service
records received when the truck was purchased. These service records stated the
engine previously had leaking injector cups that were repaired by ************
under warranty. The leaking injector cups caused the cross contamination
between the fuel and coolant systems. At the time of the leaking injector cup
repair, the remaining amounts of cross contamination in the systems were deemed
acceptable by ************ and this would not cause further reliability issues.
Peterson Motors provided these service records to the customer on 1/30/24. The
************ dealer advised the customer the truck had remaining parts only
warranty coverage and it was possible there was another issue with the coolant
or fuel system. At this point, the customer approved the ************ dealer to
begin diagnosing “fuel in the coolant/coolant in the fuel”. The inspection
found no issues with the fuel or coolant systems. In the process, both the coolant
and fuel systems were flushed to remove as much cross contamination as
possible. The inspections and flushing of systems was completed on 2/13/24 and
resulted in a total bill of $13,077.42. A significant portion of this bill was
incurred when it was decided to disassemble the engine for pressure testing of
individual components prior to flushing the coolant and fuel systems. Engine
disassembly for individual component testing was elective inspection and not
required to establish that no internal leaks were present. Peterson Motors
agreed to compensate the customer $3,000 on 2/15/24 in attempt to maintain the
relationship. It was estimated this would have been the approximate cost of
services if the coolant and fuel systems were flushed to determine if there was
an internal leak rather than disassembling the engine.

On 3/29/24 the customer notified Peterson Motors of a leak
from the transmission and the truck would not start. The customer took the
truck to a ************ dealer for repair. The transmission leak was diagnosed
and it was determined that issue would be covered under warranty. The truck not
starting was determined to be a faulty crank shaft position sensor. These
issues resulted in a total bill of $4,001.12. The labor to diagnose the faulty
sensor was $3,230. It is very unfortunate the customer was charged that much
labor to determine a <$35 sensor failed. This is an unforeseeable service
event and for this reason the customer was notified we would not be able to
    provide compensation for this repair.
