I purchased a gift card from Mobile Auto Works Detailing LLC (Joshua N***) for $125 on December 12th, 2024. I gifted the gift card to my husband who has attempted to schedule with Joshua since May 3rd, 2025. Joshua has scheduled and no-showed or late cancelled 4 separate times for 4 different reasons (rain, family member death, no employees, and most recently, a broken vehicle), none of which we believe to be honest. After the 4th attempt, we requested a refund, which we did not receive. Upon reviewing his **** & ****** reviews, there are several recent 1-star reviews detailing very similar incidents of Joshua's theft.Initial Complaint

on 2/28/25 we requested a fiberglass repair & a buff & cut. He quoted us $20-25/ft. He assured us he could do fiberglass repair. He recommended a wet sand &gave us an estimate, $550, with the wet sand, buff & cut. Then stated he could do a ceramic coat for $1k. Planned for Josh to come that day. He never did arrive, nor the next day. 3/1/25, he promised to come the next day. At 2pm on 3/2/25 Josh stated he could come, 3/3/25. We weren’t comfortable having the work done without meeting first &without anyone present. We requested an appointment the following weekend,3/7/25 at 3pm. He agreed & our turnaround for the job would be 2 days. We reached out to confirm, he confirmed.He arrived on 3/7/25 ~ 3:30 & 4. He left shortly after to “get a bite to eat” & get supplies. At this point he requested $300 deposit for supplies. He returned to work on the boat in the dark & said he was going to stay all night & get it done. He left around 9pm & said he would be back 3/8. He asked for another $300 for the work he had done. 11:28am on 3/8 he said he would head our way soon. 2pm“we’re coming”. We asked if the work could be done in the timeframe, He said everything would be done “fast”. He stated he was having car problems, my husband offered a ride. He listed several excuses & never showed.He said he would arrive Sunday 9am. Josh arrived 3/9 ~11am. we communicated that we no longer wished to have ceramic coating due to the time limits. Josh informed us that he would not be able to complete the fiberglass repair & we were even,$600. We had an obligation, we left at 11:15. Josh left our house ~11:45. When we returned we were confused & asked if what we were seeing was finished. He said it was & the inside was free. We never asked for him to clean the inside. “work” he did on the outside of the boat left us with more work than when he arrived. Good morning Better Business Bureau my name is Josh i am tired of people coming at me just because they got junk can't do nothing with it i still got to get paid for my time he got what he paid for this is like the fifth complaint i'm trying to do the right thing give the guy $100 back talk bad about my business slander Had people write bad reviews on me that I don't even did work for Go look at the ****** page I've had Nothing but bad luck lately with these people Try to keep everybody happy and you can't keep him happy I spent 8 hours out there on that boat I told the guy it had to be wet did not want To pay any extra so therefore That's what he got I am trying to do the right thing But Sometimes Something ain't good enough for everybody What you say Please find it in my interest as a small business owner for 26 years To forgive me for this This is the second one This guy has submitted I'm Responsible My work was complete He agreed with just the buff And that's what it turned out to be At what sanded the whole other side ask him for pictures of all the stickers that I removed for him I did not take no after pictures so please Make sure you get out the pictures sorry I left a little bit of wet sanding Dust On the seat and on the Boat trailer It rinses right off Thank you Find this in my way pleaseInitial Complaint

Discussed having my boat cut and buffed. Agreed he would show up Feb 28 to do the work ( takes 4+ hours) No shows, text me he would come back March 1 ( family issues no shows) says he will come back March 2 says he’s with another client no shows. We agree that he can start the following Friday, he arrives 2 hours late. Leaves within 30 min for supplies. Comes back 3 hours later and works for 20 min. Says he will return tommorow. No shows the next day( car problems) the following Sunday returns to complete job. He is at my house for 30 min and I leave for the store and he leaves immediately after me. The job looks horrible and he left damage on my trailer and seats that weren’t they’re prior to his arrive. I hired Josh for a same-day service, and he required full payment upfront. He promised to complete the service between 4 pm and 5 pm. By 6 pm, I had not heard from him, so I called to check. He claimed he was running late but could come over right away. I then texted to cancel, but he insisted he "doesn't offer refunds" and said he would still come to complete the service. However, he never showed up, and when I returned home at 9 pm, it was clear the work was not done. Despite this, he has refused to refund the $225 I prepaid for a service he never performed.
I have since come into contact with at least two other individuals who experienced the same issue with Josh. In both cases, he required payment upfront, failed to show up or perform the service, and refused to issue a refund. This appears to be a consistent and deliberate pattern of behavior, which goes beyond bad business practices.
Additionally, I have learned that Josh has a history of criminal charges and a pattern of illegal activity. His refusal to provide services after taking payment and hiding behind an irrelevant “no refund” policy is both unethical and unlawful. It’s alarming that he continues to operate without consequences, preying on unsuspecting customers.
This situation is not an isolated incident, and I am filing this complaint to ensure no one else becomes a victim of his fraudulent practices. He must be held accountable for his actions and should not be allowed to continue deceiving customers.Business Response

We offered to render the services and do it for her she denied it we don't do refunds we offered a gift certificate she didn't want to do it that's company policy we couldn't help it it rain we can't control the weather in the schedule and sometimes she was impatient and she down on me on ******** was harassing me won't stop texting me after I said stop texting me I told her my truck was broke down and I need some time to get it back on the road to get to work I told her to bring it to me she didn't want to bring it to me so that is the story of that as you can see all my reviews there's multiple people saying stuff that's all her people that she's having my business and talk bad about it and blast me all over the internet saying I'm a scam I'm a jerk I'm going to rip off that is not right I told her to take the reviews down and as soon as I get my money fixed up I will get it right but she won't listen she just keeps on harassing me I got tired of it I blocked her and I'm not d***ing with it but I hope you see it on my side because the small business owners everybody's trying to take advantage of somebody just cuz of somebody's having a hard time and I'm r***ly having a hard year five to shut it down I will shut it down I can't handle no more people complaining because they want to redeem their Christmas gift in January when the weather ain't even nice she won't give me a chance to make it right so that's on her no refunds on the website thank you for your time sorry for took so long to respond back I don't even have a phone and by the way the owner isn't Jessica S****** it is Josh n*** Jessica is my wife do not put nothing on her she has nothing to do with the business except for helps me wash towelsCustomer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Nothing that the response alleges is true. I never purchased a gift certificate, and weather had nothing to do with Mobile Works Auto Detail not showing up to perform service. You can verify the weather history for January 4th, 2025 in Lexington, SC was a clear sunny day.
Everything they have said is an excuse. I am including attachments that show others who have had the exact same experience with this business. I am NOT affiliated with these individuals and they were scammed before me. In both cases, their money was never refunded. It is imperative that the public is aware of the shady business practices by Mobile Works Auto Detail.
Once again, the facts of the story are this:
I contacted the business at approximately 11am on Saturday 1/4/25.
I spoke with Josh and explained that I had an emergency (spilled yogurt) and needed same-day service on a tight schedule. I told him I was only in town for ONE day. He agreed to perform the service around 4pm or 5pm and requested that I pay up front. I paid him $225.
By 6pm, I followed up and learned he had not yet done the cleaning. He said he was en route.
When I arrived home at 9pm I found that he had never shown up. I attempted to get a refund for service not performed and was told he was in a car accident, then in the hospital. I later learned this was not true, as he texted my boyfriend (unknowingly) the same day that he was allegedly hospitalized and told him he was actually washing a boat that morning, not in the hospital (see attachment).Josh proceeded to threaten me, my friends, and my family on social media (see attachment). He specifically said (direct quote with curse words redacted) “I'm telling you right now you're barking up the wrong tree brother
I'm having a hard time right now m*********** what don't you understand why don't you come and find out bro come and find out you want a blast somebody I got plenty of mother &****** people that will stand behind me some people running a hard time some people get their daddy's money I didn't get my daddy's money okay I worked every day 8 to 8:00 to make mine and me but I broke my neck but I still mess your a** up”I still have not seen a refund for the services I never received. Contacted company asking for a mobile detail, as yogurt had spilled in car. The gentleman said he was able to do it as long as the money was transferred up front. $225 was paid on **** app for a mobile detail. The appointment being scheduled for 4 pm, Josh did not show up at the scheduled time and when he was asked if he was showing up he said he could perform the detail at 5 pm. Agreeing to the time change, 5pm comes and Josh is still not here to detail the car. When asked if he was still coming he said he got in a “bad wreck” and wasn’t able to do the detail. Now I can see from other reviews that he told other customers he scammed that his car “blew up”. After asking for the money back since this is not a local area, and will not be staying any longer, he said no refunds and no longer responded to any messages.Initial Complaint

On 12/16/24 we called and scheduled an appt for a car detail on 12/27/24 at 8:30AM.
After hearing the offers, we decided to go with the platinum package of $350 dollars. Mr. N*** said that if we paid in full that day, he would take $25 off the service. That afternoon, we sent the payment and he sent us an invoice. I let him know the name was incorrect on the invoice and he never sent me an updated one.
We were still in contact so I wasn’t worried. On 12/26 I sent a reminder text/making sure the following day at 8:30AM would still work. I didn’t hear back until 12/27 afternoon saying he had lost his phone and was out of time. I had grace and allowed him to reschedule the appointment. We scheduled for December 30th at 3pm. We texted him morning of, no response. He messages at 1:50 that afternoon saying the day before his car “blew up”. By now it was clear he had bigger problems going on so I messaged him saying not to worry about it and to send my $ back for unrendered services.
He has yet to do so and it’s been 10 days. We have messaged him and his responses have been excuses and borderline threatening. He has stopped responding altogether

I have been in contact with the customer first and foremost - secondly, this person has done nothing but slander me on social media for the past two days! Putting reviews on my business ****** and ** page, even on different profiles. This is livelihood, its how I put food on the table for my children.
I have 228 reviews on ****** and only 6 bad ones and they are all from someone that wanted to schedule, pay upfront and then cancel services all because they couldn't find the time or because I have had to reschedule them once or twice due to weather or due to important things that have been happening in my life lately. I also have a broken neck, I am the only one that does the work AND run this business all together besides my wife Jessica.
I have offered him several times to come and do the services simply because my father just passed, I took most of everything I had in my bank to lay him to rest peacefully. I am now in a bind myself but that doesn't even justify anything as far as not giving a refund. But I told him it would take 7 - 10 BUSINESS DAYS, that is the policy - I cannot change that. He got unhappy... I am more than willing to settle this, I begged for redemption.. My website says NO REFUNDS WHATSOEVER! I didn't force him to pay before services was done.

I am rejecting this response because everything he has said is untrue. 1) It’s my right to leave honest reviews and try to keep others from being stolen from.2) There are far more negative reviews than 6, all from different individuals. I’ve seen 3 within the past 24 hours.
3) No services were canceled, he just refused to show up and kept making excuses. We gave him many chances to show up at different times but after it was clear that he is a thief, we requested a refund. Not a refund because we were unsatisfied with the services, THERE WERE NO SERVICES PROVIDED
Please look on ******** and ****** and you will see dozens of people in our position. He is a danger to the community and I will not rest until justice is served. He’s on a spree right now, scamming people as we speak.
