I had been a subscriber of the Herald since moving to Spartanburg County in 1968. I looked forward to reading the morning paper but over the years, delivery issues became a real issue. Finally, I talked with a customer service rep and cancelled my subscription. I was told I could not get a refund but would continue to receive the paper until my subscription runs out around October 11. Long story short, I did not receive my paper 4 days last week and using the paper's system, logged a complaint seeking an extension of my subscription and was assured that my complaint was received and my subscription extended. I have not received a paper at all this week, including the Sunday issue.
I feel that I have been cheated out of my money and the system has ignored the promised extension of my subscription. Needless to say, I will not subscribe to the Herald again. I also want to warn others to be aware of their deception when dealing with that business.Initial Complaint

For the past several months we have not received our newspaper for weeks at a time and then for days at a time out of the weeks that we do occasionally receive it. The paper will not answer phone calls or respond to messages sent. They continue to take full payments from our checking account.
Thank you

Ms. ******, we apologize for the ongoing delivery issues you have experienced. I am partnering with the district manager to get this resolved immediately for you. I've also added a month to your subscription due to the missed deliveries. Unfortunately, I'm unable to add more than that. I did, however, lower your rate to $30 a month to offset the difference a little. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you continue to have delivery issues.
Thank you,
Kim H***

This news paper has gone to pot. Most weeks we don’t get a newspaper at all. We should receive 6 papers per week. We call daily to file a complaint. NOTHING is ever done about it. We are completely ignored. We paid for a three month subscription in June and we have received approximately 1 paper every other week. This is a pathetic business. They just won’t deliver, and keep our money instead.Business Response

My father has had an account with the Spartanburg Herald Journal for over 50 years and has never moved from his address. He is 95 years old and a WWII Veteran. Last August, he began to have problems with delivery. At first it was once or twice a week. Then it progressed to no deliveries. I called multiple times and found out after many attempts that the carrier had personal issues and she was being replaced. I was told a district manager would be taking over the route. Afterwards, we had no issues. In May of this year, once again deliveries began to waver. First a few papers missing then no deliveries at all. I drove the route and could see that others received their papers. I have called, emailed, used the automated service- all to no satisfaction. This week my Dad received two papers for the first time but no more since then. He now has credits through the end of the year. I have been told that he could look at the paper online. He doesn’t have a computer and frankly at 95, why would he? I have been told since May that there is an ongoing investigation being done. The FBI could have completed one by now. I have spoken to multiple customer service representatives and their managers in a foreign country that can do nothing except register my complaint.
My father wants his paper! Daily!!
What it is going to take to make that happen?Business Response

Hi *****. I partnered with the district manager again yesterday, and he said that he would begin delivering it himself. Your dad should have received the paper today. Please let me know if he did not.
Thanks.
Kim

I have had a subscription with Spartanburg Herald Journal since the 1980’s, and moved several times. In 1992 I moved to ** * ****** ** ** ****** **. we received the paper there. We still own that house, but built another in Inman. Several weeks ago, I had the paper transferred to *** ****** **** *** ** ****** and the paper started coming there. Then, this week, no paper. I have called about it, the automated thing always says they are sorry and will deliver tomorrow. Nothing ever comes. I went online to my account, it said it was in good standing and paid up for abt another month. I updated my credit card info also. Today, no paper. My goupstate account # is ***********. I want this fixed. I can buy the paper at ****** ****** a lot cheaper each day if something is not done soon. I have gotten emails back apologizing and saying they will fix it, but still no paper!Business Response

Mr. *******, we apologize for the lapse in delivery. I am unsure what may have caused the sudden lapse, so I am partnering with the district manager to resolve this immediately. Also, as a courtesy for your troubles, I've also added an additional week to your subscription. I will work to get this resolved for you.
Thank you,
Kim
