In April 2022, SCFCU started charging me a "dormant account fee" totaling $120 as of today. I was not notified that this charge would start. It was not part of the account agreement as I had had the account for about 5 years or so and had hardly ever used it. It was simply a savings account that was required in order to obtain a mortgage loan through SCFCU. I had tried to close the account once the loan was paid off and was told I had to some in in person to close it. I did not live in the state anymore, so thought I'd go close it next time I'm in town. Fast forward a year later at tax time reviewing my accounts and I realize I'm being charged a monthly fee. I asked for a refund and to close the account and have been denied. I want the $120 back, and the account to close with my money being mailed to me by check or ACH transferred.Business response

To It May Concern, My complaint is that a payment of $1459.18 was made on my Credit Card at the South Federal Credit Union branch location at 2350 Legrand Rd., Columbia, SC 29223. The telling informed me that the payment should be credited to my account within 24 hours. I inquired with the Credit Card Customer Care on June 24th, 2022, about when the payment would be posted on my account to reflect my total available credit of the $5000. I was told that the funds were in a pending status until June 27th, 2022, which makes no sense. Is South Carolina Federal Credit Union processes accurate or inaccurate, or was there any human error in the processing of the payment? I find the processes procedures to their members inaccurate and disrespectful to their members with the reflection of accurate account balance within a timely manner. This practice or procedures affects my credit report and my credit score when the balances are reflective in a timely manner. I worked very hard to have good credit and would like to preserve that with performing financial transactions in a proper timeframes to assist with that. That was the reason I drove over 30 minutes from my residence to accomplish this transaction. Credit limit $5,000.00 / Last payment amount $1,459.18 Last payment posted 06/21/2022 The second complaint is their transfer funds from external is very lengthy. I am displeased with this because when a transaction needs to conduct with a couple of days that is impossible. If South Carolina Federal is using outdated processes and procedures within rapid changing society that makes no sense. I hope these matters will be addressed to deliver better financial products and services to better establish relations with the South Carolina Federal Credit Union members. I am unable to provide below instance of external transfer that reflect the transfer timeframes because the history does not provide data. Very Respectfully, **** ** *****, *** US. I paid my car loan 20 months early I called 3 weeks ago I did not call for a payoff and paid the whole amount. When I talked to the bank they told me that there was no refund for paying off early. I then asked about my title to my truck which I paid it off September 15, 2021 and now here it is November 15,2021 they said it was on the way. I then asked if I could get a print out of all my payments and they told me they could research it but it would cost $11.00 a hour and $11.00 a page so I don't understand why I have to pay. To me this Bank is treating me wrong.Business response

On July 21, 2021, I telephoned South Carolina Federal Credit Union and spoke with ****** Zicarelli in regard to my credit reports with Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. I informed ****** of the charge offs on both my accounts which were discharged in Chapter 13 bankruptcy in July, 2019. These charge offs are negatively effecting my credit score and my process in buying a house. I regret that my accounts were sold to them by the original lender, Sixth Postal Credit Union in Florence, South Carolina. I worked at Florence Post Office 25 years before I retired on Postal Disability due to congestive heart failure. When my doctor ordered me out of work, it was 4 tedious months and much paperwork before I received my Postal Disability and Social Security Disability checks. In the meantime, my bills were ongoing and I did not have any income because I had exhaused all sick/annual leave; therefore, I filed bankruptcy. ****** emailed a letter instead of correcting my credit reports.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/08/03) */ SC Federal Credit Union is not a member of the BBB and does not use this forum to address complaints. The Credit Union will contact Ms. ************** directly to discuss/resolve the issue. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/08/04) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) South Carolina Federal Credit Union continues to violate the FCRA laws. This account is over 7 years old from the first delinquency (March 8, 2014) and 7 years since filing Chapter 13 Bankruptcy in August, 2014. According to FCRA, both accounts (the auto loan and the line of credit) should be removed from my credit report. SCFC has not contacted me by phone or email and I feel they do not have any intention of deleting the close, outdated accounts. This account was sold from Florence Dupont Credit Union from Sixth Postal Credit Union in Florence. All the other companies include in my bankruptcy have deleted their accounts from my credit reports but SCFC refuse to do so. My credit repair specialist said that I can sue the creditor for damages ($1,000 per violation and damages). I am not going to allow any company to report any inaccuracies on my credit report because that is defamation of character. They had so many charge offs on both accounts, I told to delete the charge offs because the accounts were included in bankruptcy. They deleted the charge offs and then put bankruptcy on the accounts when I clearly stated in writing the Chapter 13 bankruptcy was filed in August, 2014. My credit repair specialist said also the lst delinquency on both accounts is older than 7 yearswe found an account file that the 1st delinquency is March 8, 2014. The only remedy I want from SCFC is for their office to delete both accounts and settle my disputes with Experian, I already confirmed with CFBP (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) that a company is violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act by continuing to put negative and inaccurate information on my credit reports. If the accounts are not deleted, I will contact a Consumer Protection attorney to seek violation fees and damages. I am keenly aware of my rights.
